in my gongsun playthrough my faction heir ended up one of unhappiest from sibling rivalry even though all his siblings were babies, says alot about my heir when his only rivals are small children
Just one point of correction: estates income is not based on how powerful someone was historically. It's based on how wealthy that person or their family was in "the lore." The Sun family were like the Kennedy family of ancient China, Sun Jian was supposed to be a direct descendant of Sun Tzu. They may have had a lot of private wealth or just family connections, and used that to fund their entrance into warfare and power politics. Total Warhammer has a similar thing, but every faction gets exactly the same 2500 base income, whereas in TW:3K it's variable. Late game it's irrelevant, but early game that extra 1k income for the Sun clan is really nice.
Awesome correction man.. I asked that directly to the company, and this was their answer.. I'm very in to that explanation. Stamped and approved!!! I totally agree with you too.. Started playing this game recently, new to Total War (Got free with new PC). Played for 2 hours and then everyone starved and income pummelled. This was extremely helpful and very well put together.
I haven’t played a lot of Total War, started with Shogun 2, then Warhammer 2 which I have very limited time in. I’m loving the Romance campaign mode and I completely messed up my first campaign as Liu Bei and started a new one with the bandit queen (I know she has a very hard start but I like her a lot) and I’m doing a lot better. This video had a lot of little tips I had no idea I could do as of course I’m still learning, but this was great to help me out. Love the content as I just found out about you from a friend.
I'm. So glad to hear that dude.. And Shogun is a truly hard beast to get into the series with.. I'm glad this could help break down some barriers brother! :)
I just bought the game since it was on sale and along with the 6 DLC’s for $45 which is an ABSOLUTE steal. Thank you for this guide. I’m starting off on Cao Cao’s campaign and there’s so much to do.
Just bought this game to continue my total war journey. This video helped a lot thanks i definitely feel like this could be 1 of the best total war games made
Man thanks for making this great video. I've been wondering what total war to get for my first one, I think I'll start with this one. I subbed to you and I'll be watching slot of your vids for help
Great to hear man. If you press F2, I did all the voice overs for the in game tutorials, so hopefully you can find some nuanced information through there as well :)
Hahahahaha honestly.. I bombed the first FIVE campaigns. If you press F2 in the game, I made all the videos that help you through the individual aspects of the game. So if you have any other questions, let me know
Holy hell, I'm way too dumb for this. I love Total War ever since Rome1. 3K is like walking into a bar I once knew where my friends would say 'sup man' but now they say things like henceforth and filibuster, walked right out. Trying again and thanks to your video I realize how much has changed. Now that you've explained it clearly (great job) my brain just hurts. Ima go play Shogun2 henceforth
Beautiful game, I'm already in love with it. I never liked any total war game before this one and the only reason is that I'm in love with the novel itself lol. Playing Romance of The Three Kingdoms Koei games are also fun and this one took ALOT from ROTKXI, but still this one is more in depth even though there are few negative points I will mention below: - Character names are not the most common ones, they use names that are either not so common or different than the novel. - Characters abilities kinda matches the novel, but I noticed that they either overestimate a character's personality or underestimate it or even give abilities that makes it weird. - Portray sometime do not match the characters personality. ( (eg. Taishi Chi is a powerful vanguard, the portrait in the game made him look like a melo personality with not so much good instinct bar). Anyway the game in general is amazing, and thanks for this video I would also like it if you make a video showing how to win a war (especially when you're outnumbered).
Thank you for the great guide! Did they change some aspects of the UI in recent updates? Some screens used to be a bit cleaner/easier to read imo. I find the UI quite overwhelming :D
Wow this is crazy. I just got the game off steam and as soon as I started I was really overwhelmed with all the functions. Just the fact that this video is almost an hour long shows how complex this game is. Not what I was expecting since I just wanted to just go into the game and start fighting right away. On that note, seriously thank you for putting out this guide for this game!
I wish you covered more on the relationship aspect regarding dislikes between your commanders and court members that you own. Do I just dismiss members that have dislikes with my main character when they don't get along?
aw shit sorry man - you're right, i definitely brushed over that a lil too nonchalantly. mmm you can have them serve in the same army together. they'll eventually gather more and more traits which sometimes helps balance things out. you might even have two ccharacters that LIKE each other end up hating each other. Having them serve in the same military generally helps with their relationship, but sometimes two characters are just two polar opposites. Look at what traits are the detractors. Sometimes it's a minor one, and you get campaign "moments" that allow you to bolster that opinion over time. hope that helps?
All the new features in this game are def cool AF. But the one thing I like the most about this one is that total war is FINALLY optimized. I got a i7 7700 and a 1080 ti, and SHOGUN still lags for me on bigger battles, and that game is 9 years old. This one came out last year and I can play on all ultra settings with very little lag at all, even on big ass battles. Def a breath of fresh air for total war fans.
Finally got this game last night, I love the total war series. Not far along yet tbh but it feels very fresh and so far love it. Battles are muchhh more brutal which I love, can’t just blindly throw units around
Steam summer sale baby!!! Normally my friend and I would stick to TW:Warhammer but we’ve always been huge fans of the TW series so when Three Kingdoms went on sale we couldn’t pass it up. Thanks Sparta for this perfect content. Keep up the quality and excellence of your channel my Italian Pisano! Haha
I played Total war Rome 2 in 2015. I just bought a gaming laptop last night and three Kingdoms is way more difficult. I jumped right into Rome 2 like I just played yesterday
Thanks a lot for the "make this work" diplomacy feature explanation. I was avoiding it because i thought that it is ment as a threat, that you try to force them to make the deal with you or else you declare war on them :D So i didnt use it at all. BTW is Dong Zhuo scripted to die at the beginning of the campaing and it happens each time? Or was it just bad luck that my biggest enemy i was looking forward to fight long term died in like 5th turn? :D
I’ve been playing total war games for years and I had to come to this video. While the game is certainly in depth and is great, unfortunately it’s also much more complex. With shogun 2 and warhammer series I could just jump in and figure it out as I went along. The interface alone for this game requires its own tutorial. Lol. But thanks for the video. Im gonna buckle down tonight and finish it then watch advanced tips tomorrow.
how...do you increases the amount of unit you have? no am not talking about the one in "Option". l am talking about individual unit. For example, my Cao Cao alone have a total of around 130 unit while this other guy, also alone, have total of around 320. My retinues amount is basically around 40 while his retinues are around 60~80. I am not afraid to fight this guy but am not sure how to better myself.
what's a good faction to start with? I've never played a Total War game before so i'm very new to the series, but i do have a bit of experience with 4X strategy games in general
This seems to have some elements of Europa Universalis to it, which I think is a good thing. To me it looks like the perfect mix of political and administrative realism combined with being able to actually get into battle and directly affect the outcome. Love that concept.

good guide thanks the game is much deeper then previous total war this was helpfull
why is shogun 2 sometimes considered as the greatest total war when we have this masterpiece?
Extremely informative video...my sincere thanks!
Thank you very much for watching!
This guy deserves 1M subs tbh !
I just bought the game since it was on sale and along with the 6 DLC’s for $45 which is an ABSOLUTE steal. Thank you for this guide. I’m starting off on Cao Cao’s campaign and there’s so much to do.
I am an original Shogun: Total War veteran and even I find Three Kingdoms as possibly the best of the series but also the most difficult to master.
If i watched this vid, my first play thru wouldn't have been such a disaster xD
Just bought this game to continue my total war journey. This video helped a lot thanks i definitely feel like this could be 1 of the best total war games made
"the ones that I narrated..."
Uff - that was an instant subscribe from me.
Man thanks for making this great video. I've been wondering what total war to get for my first one, I think I'll start with this one. I subbed to you and I'll be watching slot of your vids for help
Absolutely man glad to help! AND WELCOME TO THE FAMILY! :)
Just started. Definitely overwhelming but fun. These tips helped a lot.
Great to hear man. If you press F2, I did all the voice overs for the in game tutorials, so hopefully you can find some nuanced information through there as well :)
finally some good video who can help the new players. Game is really unfriendly to the newbies with almost 0 no tutorial
OH NO!!! the tutorial is there, i promise! i voiced all of it in the game :) Press "F2"
but thanks so much for watching man, glad i could help!
Finally a step by step tutorial. Thanks man🙏
Excellent Video. Beginners MUST see
I play medieval total war 2 and comparing the two this is far more complex I too am struggling but this vid is really helpful
Imagine a second game at Europe and a map like mortal empires with China as well...
HNNNNNNNNNNNNG
I'd love it if they combined this with Rome 2, as I've always fantasized what would happen if Rome clashed with the Han. :D
I just got stomped by a coallition on turn 75.... only had 5 generals going up againt 10 armies... now I'm here
Hahahahaha honestly.. I bombed the first FIVE campaigns. If you press F2 in the game, I made all the videos that help you through the individual aspects of the game. So if you have any other questions, let me know
Me coming back home after a long day at work/uni to take a lecture course in virtual conquering
thx a lot, this helped, no matter how much total war i played before this game had some different things and i skipped tutorial so.. thx
Great guide!
I just started playing finally!
I feel like im watching a khan academy video u even sound like him lol, nice video!
this guide is for people who know how to play already 💀
I love the era this is based in. Only played TW: Warhammer. I was not ready for this at all
Holy hell, I'm way too dumb for this.
Playing Romance of The Three Kingdoms Koei games are also fun and this one took ALOT from ROTKXI, but still this one is more in depth even though there are few negative points I will mention below:
- Character names are not the most common ones, they use names that are either not so common or different than the novel.
Wow this TW is so much more complex. Thanks for the tips that I can use for my current Liu Bei campaign. Loving this new complex TW 😄
happy to help brother! :D
The campaign for sure, the battles are easier tho.
Thx man. It helped me with some things.
awesome dude, happy to hear it helped!
This was extremely helpful for me, thanks!
absolutely man, happy to help!
This is a great video. Trying to figure out this game and this helps a ton
Been playing total war since Rome one and medieval too, yet this game. Still throw me off with the way unit recruitment works.
You’re like the Sal of Three Kingdoms
Thank you for the great guide! Did they change some aspects of the UI in recent updates? Some screens used to be a bit cleaner/easier to read imo. I find the UI quite overwhelming :D
Wow this is crazy. I just got the game off steam and as soon as I started I was really overwhelmed with all the functions. Just the fact that this video is almost an hour long shows how complex this game is. Not what I was expecting since I just wanted to just go into the game and start fighting right away. On that note, seriously thank you for putting out this guide for this game!
Thanks that was very helpful
not a problem friend!
Are you planning to do gameplay walkthroughs that would be perfect
Thx
i love when he says "be mind full of that" said it 10 times lol
Be mindful of it dammit!!! Hahahaa :)
I have been playing a game on very hard level for more than a week now, I miss work!!
Thanks for this!
Thank you very much, this video help me alot
Absolutely! Thank you very much for watching brother!
Finally got this game last night, I love the total war series. Not far along yet tbh but it feels very fresh and so far love it. Battles are muchhh more brutal which I love, can’t just blindly throw units around
love the video :D was so good and learn a lot of it :D and think im more ready to go in to a game now then before :)
Haha
Hahahah my pleasure mi fratello. Glad it helped :)
Thanks!
I played Total war Rome 2 in 2015. I just bought a gaming laptop last night and three Kingdoms is way more difficult. I jumped right into Rome 2 like I just played yesterday
oh man! i hope this helped?!
@@italianspartacus I am kinda frustrated with three Kingdoms. Maybe I just need to restart.
restart and play as Sun Jian. He's a bit easier to get a good foot hold on for the mechanics!
@@italianspartacus that's who I'm using lol. I'm full Wu!!! Sun family is my favorite since dynasty warriors 2
Im gonna buckle down tonight and finish it then watch advanced tips tomorrow.
yeah man, i totally know how you feel. when i started i was like, "Ha... hah.. hahah okay i'm lost, FUCK!"
how...do you increases the amount of unit you have? no am not talking about the one in "Option". l am talking about individual unit.
For example, my Cao Cao alone have a total of around 130 unit while this other guy, also alone, have total of around 320. My retinues amount is basically around 40 while his retinues are around 60~80. I am not afraid to fight this guy but am not sure how to better myself.
thx alot , I'm new to the franchise and I'm so overwelmed lol
what's a good faction to start with? I've never played a Total War game before so i'm very new to the series, but i do have a bit of experience with 4X strategy games in general
I hope this doesn't sound rude but are you partically colorblind? You were calling grey purple and yellow as green.
Force marching in your own territory also removes replenishment.
This seems to have some elements of Europa Universalis to it, which I think is a good thing. To me it looks like the perfect mix of political and administrative realism combined with being able to actually get into battle and directly affect the outcome. Love that concept.
