Theo, I never get tired of listening to Bob Prince announce Roberto in the Pirate lineup! Your Clemente Pickups are awesome! They look great! Thanks for sharing with us!
Glad you appreciate my opening! Thanks man, I love all the oddball Clemente stuff, hope to get some more Kahn’s in the future!
Fantastic returns! The '68 Venezuelan might be my favorite -- that's a great 3! Looks awesome. Thanks for sharing, Theo!.
Can’t beat 3 HOFers! Thanks John, appreciate it!
Yeah Theo! You crushed it bro. Great job on the buys, the grades were really good. You’ve convinced me that that’s the way to do it.
I’m not an investor or influencer- so make your own decisions 🤣🤣 But thanks for watching Hugo!
Really nice return Theo! Love all the OPC cards especially the ‘71. That Venezuelan is awesome and great you got a 3!!!
Getting a 3 on a Venny is like a 7 on a reg card, haha! Yeah I’m happy, thanks Joes!
Great reveal video Theo!!! Love the oversized cards with the full photos.
Thanks Dave!!! I’m definitely happy to have these cards in my collection! 😊
nice return! love the 71 OPC, going to have to look into adding that one myself!
It’s a must, the Canadian Clemente grail! So scarce too
Sweet return Theo, some real beauties and a pretty nice ROI!
Love the 71 OPC Clemente what a fantastic Christmas present!
Thanks Steve, still can’t believe I have one! Me and you were searching at the National for one!
Great job Theo. I love that 71 OPC. The Kahn’s is a beautiful photo.
Thanks TJ! The Kahn’s were in hot dog packs so I’ll live with the stain and I agree, such a great image!
Very nice grades Theo. My favorites are the Kahns card & the 1971 OPC. Still, all of those cards are neat. Thanks for the display.
George, thanks man, I hope to get some more Kahn’s in the future l, they are great!
Amazing 3 on the '68 Venezuelan
Thanks Warren, I love it!
love some sgc time. very cool stuff. my favorite was the 1970 jones and rose leaders card. i love opc and cool returns like these are awesome to see!! congrats. also THUMBS UP, later on Jay
Most returns on here are very similar cards, so i do enjoy showing people different cards. The Rose leader card is definitely cool, thanks so much Jay! 😁
hey i loved it! great stuff as always. thanks so much.@@ClementeCollector
Awesome return man. Love Kahn's cards. And nice stat back that's a crisp one.
Thanks brother! Love the oddball stuff, especially food issue! Appreciate you watching!
Congratulations on the successful grading. This is a really cool video that you do. I’ve enjoyed seeing you do it multiple times now.
I’m happy you like this format! Thanks Matt! 😊
@@ClementeCollector It is very dramatic. Are you going to the big card show this weekend in Washington, PA?
@@mathbowler2782 I don’t think so, but I’m definitely going to the big show in monroeville in a few months. Are you and Skaught going?
@@ClementeCollectorOh I definitely plan to be at the Main Line Show in May. I hope that Skaght will be there too. I look forward to meeting you.
Great submission Theo, I'd be happy with this for sure. To me it's worth buying ungraded and then send them in. Not only value wise but it's fun getting relatively "new" cards back! Love the '71 OPCs - I of my favorite sets. Buy low sell high.
Yeah, it’s nice to not break the bank on some of these cards! Me and you both love the OPC 71s, you know the Reggie you have is sick!
Great reveal Theo! Very respectable ROI by buying them ungraded! Nice work bro! Love the spreadsheet!
Haha, a Pittsburgh spreadsheet, took a lot of work! Sometimes buying ungraded pays off!
Not generally a fan of unlicensed cards, but that Pro Star was a nice card! And I loved the Venny leaders card. All of them are sweet additions! Congrats!
I agree on the unlicensed but Pro Star Clemente is a super cool image. Thanks man, I’m very happy, it’s my 3rd Venny!
Nice returns Theo! Glad the Exhibit came back with a number grade.
Yeah me too! Thanks for the help before buying it!
Great job Theo! So happy for you! A 3 on the Venezuelan with Clemente and Aaron! I love the 71 OPC! Way to save tons of dough! Just think, it's like you got some of them for free! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Haha, I like how you think Adam! Definitely happy with these stunners! Thanks for watching! 😊
Great returns on those cards. I agree that the 71 OPC is an amazing card.
Thanks Jim! 71 OPC is a dream card for me 😊
Awesome cards!! You have an amazing Roberto Clemente collection!! How did you choose Clemente as your favorite player to collect? Enjoy your channel!! Keep up the great content!!
So die hard Pirates fan, and my Dad had his 60,61,62 cards from childhood. And he told me how great he was, so I did research and I was hooked! My Dads cards will always be my favorite ones! Thanks for the kind words and watching!
You are collecting one of baseball’s greats and an amazing humanitarian!!
@@ken-pr2df 💯💯💯
In your Clemente collection what one item do you value the most?
@@ken-pr2df obviously the cards my Dad gave me. Then the 2 cards owned by Clemente. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to afford an autograph, so this might be the next closest thing.
Great return! Congrats Theo. Your ability to buy raw cards like that in person at shows makes some of us a bit jealous though. It feels like vintage baseball card fever emanates in a radius around the state of Ohio.
Thanks John! Well actually a lot of these cards were purchased online- eBay/comc. But I do think I’m lucky to live in an area that card shows have vintage cards available. I’m definitely looking forward to the Pittsburgh and Strongsville show.
Awesome reveal Theo. Sweet 71 O-Pee Chee and 72. Cool Kahns card
Thanks Scott! Hope you’re doing good buddy, can’t wait to see your next video.
Very nice !! I bought a 1956 Clemente card raw for $ 340 , sent to sgc, got grade a 6!!! Big score !! Sometimes it pays to buy raw !! Keep it up !
That’s awesome! Congrats on the 56! Thanks for the kind words Keith!
I'd say you did very well with those buying them ungrated. congratulations brother, that Venezuelan looks amazing.
Thanks Jason, yeah worked out well! When I saw the centering on the Venny on Comc and the back was clean, I knew I needed it. Appreciate you watching!
Great cards Theo! I think you did very well with your collection
Thanks Jason! Definitely excited for these cards being added to the collection!
Sweet return. Great cards. I have to caution you that Mike Myers showed up at one point during the video. I have hears about this bug. You may want to reformat your drive so that we never need see him pop uninvited again.
Congratulations. SGC is awesome for oversized cards
Thanks, yeah the exhibit size slabs are nice, happy the pro star just fit into one!
Congrats man those are all very nice Clemente adds to your collection and look great in the tux. I'm thinking that 1970 league leaders card is probably nicer than a 3.5 like u said but they deducted 2 for the top to bottom centering. So the actual condition of the card itself is 5.5. You can see the white line at the top which has to be the cut line. That Venezuela is a beauty! a 3 is definitely high grade for those and happy the 71 opc came back a 2 for ya:)
I agree, the OPC top to bottom centering hurt it, but after putting it in more lighting in appears the an indent about an inch big in the middle. So the grade was fair. Thanks man appreciate you watching! 😊
Who needs spreadsheets when you can steal your kid's crayola markers? 😜This was a fun video, just giving you a hard time.
No I deserve it, my hand writing is crap too! Thanks man for watching, no Indians this time, maybe next video! 😉
Great return Theo. I love buying raw as much as the next collector, but there is a risk in it. Not so much in it being a fake (although to the new collector, that may be a problem), but being a good judge of what it would great on the spot. You have a good eye for it!
Yeah I agree, and I probably should have explained that more for young collectors out there. I do try to be picky with the buyer I use and comps but um sure some luck. Thanks man!
Great presentation and analysis, Theo. You have some real treasures. I buy all my cards ungraded, because I enjoy the hunt for the best condition for the best price. Risky certainly, but overall, I have had a pretty good batting average thus far. You had outstanding results with this submission. Good for you! Well done.
Take care,
Rob.
That’s great to hear you had similar results so far! I think it’s a topic that may not be covered enough but is important to hobby budget. Thanks man, appreciate you watching!
Yes, Theo, this topic is not mentioned much. In my short time back in the hobby it seems most collectors understandably are playing the safer route with buying graded cards. I am literally an old school guy, so buying ungraded is what I know best. Risk reward is there, but I enjoy the hunt. Sorry I missed 4 Collectors Livestream tonight, but I'm watching now. Keep up the great work!!
@@BaseballTimeTraveler I agree, the hunt is so much fun! Thanks man!
'71 o pee chee! I'd take one ben t in half! Awesome Theo! Congratulations man
lol, I would too but got an eBay card for Christmas and said, I’m getting a decent one!
Great job with the submission
Thanks Cesar!
Congrats Theo! Key takeaway is to stick to only buying oversized. :)
Hahaha, yes!!!
That '72 prostar is amazing!
Thanks! Tux fits it well!
Great cards, Theo! Congrats!
Thanks Billy!
Congrats. Definitely going well buying them raw 👏🏻
Thanks, yeah I was pumped!
Sometimes buying raw vintage... makes sense. SGC from what I've seen tends to be softer on grading ultra modern, but can be a bit more harsh, with their grading on the vintage ones. Why that may be. Not sure. I guess they're better trained/experienced, in the vintage cards? But, overall this ended up being a fine submission. Well done.
Yeah, there’s definitely risk in buying ungraded $200 cards, I probably didn’t display it well enough in the video. But ultimately if you love the card, a good grade is gravy!
Good work on that bunch!
Thanks Eric!
Excellent returns. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great one
Much appreciated Scott, thanks for the comment and watch! 👊🏻
Theo, I was wondering if you might know the answer to this. The other day, I was looking at some recent comps of the '63 Topps, Roberto Clemente. I was surprised that not only does, it seem to be much more expensive than the '64 and '65 Topps, but in some cases, I think it was also more than the '62, '61, 60, etc. It's a great looking card, but was wondering if there's something I'm not aware of, like it's just one of his more popular (in demand) cards or something...
Great question. In my experience- 63 and then 64 has been higher priced then the 65, 62, 61, 60 for the last 3 years I’ve been collecting Clemente. The card is number 540, so I think that it may be a high number. But I also think it’s a popular set. I’d have to really did into pop counts to give you a more educated answer though!
@@ACD1994 It is the high number scarcity. A similar phenomena occurs with many hall of famers where a high number card ends up being their second most valuable after their rookie.
@@3D80sKid That's interesting. I do wonder though how scarce these high number cards really are. What the production counts were for them. But yeah
Theo, I might have missed it but did you include shipping on the final prices. If not, how much did it affect the bottom line?
Hey Mike, I did include shipping from the purchase but not for the SGC submission. Shipping was $6 there and $15 back. So that would add $3 per card. Nothing crazy but should add that in the future. Thanks for watching!!!
Just one question.
What is “grading”?
🤣🤣🤣 I do have one point, that is pro ungraded cards. This proves to people, you can get better deals buying ungraded. Weather you keep them that way or not. The newer collectors seem more scared to buy ungraded but can save money. Thanks for watching!
Just wanted you to know I was here supporting you Theo 😉
