- SGC blind reveal of 4 vintage Clemente baseball cards. 1 o-pee-chee, 1 Laughlin’s, 1 Transogram and 1 is a Bazooka! I show the prices I paid for the cards and what they would cost already graded. I also give my thoughts on why buying raw usually works out well for me! Let’s see if I should have bought these cards already graded!

I agree with your thoughts on grading Theo; nice cards.
Thanks, great minds! Haha!
Congrats, Theo! That Bazooka is awesome.
Thanks John, definitely happy with it and the whole return! 😊
Bazooka!!! Nice dude. I just got a Laughlin of another player. Love those cards
Sweet!!! I have the Laughlin 61 WS card, I’ll have to show it, literally all about how bad the pirates sucked, lol. Bazooka, definitely has me pumped!!!
Awesome cards, the Bazooka is amazing
Thanks Jason, yeah I love it!
Enjoyed as always Drew. I hope I get to witness your last Jackie at the National! Loving those magazines! Thanks for sharing.
Congrats Theo. Cool cards!!
Thanks Mr.5,000! 😉
Great video Theo. Love the breakdown of costs. This is always good for collectors to see. These cards look awesome, not as nice as the 72 in action Clemente. Lol!
Well the 72 IA is such a great photo! Haha! Thanks Jason, glad you enjoyed it!
Gave a video like as always - I always enjoy seeing these types of videos! Congrats on those awesome cards, Theo! They look really sharp in the tux.👊
Thanks Hodges, yeah it’s cool seeing cards getting graded that don’t normally on UA-cam. Appreciate you watching and liking as always!
Awesome cards Theo, congrats!! Love the Laughlin and Bazooka cards.
Thanks Doug!! Very excited to have them on my collection!
Great looking cards. Congrats on the Bazooka! Keep up the great content.
Thanks man, definitely happy with this group of cards and this return! Thanks for the kind comment!
Congrats on the great additions to the collection Theo! Love watching your reveals
Thanks Joe, much appreciated! 😊
Love SGC time, you killed it Theo!
You have a great eye my friend! Think you were conservative on your first three cards, they would all sell for more! Congrats on the Bazooka really excited for you!
You know I like to play in the ungraded lane, more often than not I feel you can find value.
Recently have seen some really good deals on graded cards so I am buying them when I can.
Congrats again, have a great weekend!
Me and you are addicted to grading videos, especially SGC ones, haha! Yeah I try to be conservative, so no one can say I’m trying to cook the numbers, lol. But yeah a hybrid approach is the best approach, but man is it nice when the raw grading works out, lol! Thanks for watching budddy!
Sweet cards. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks brother and thanks for watching!
Awesome cards, Theo! I'm glad they worked out in your favor! I prefer to buy them raw and grade them, but like you said, it's always a risk.
Yeah it really is, hopefully showing ppl the whole picture, is more entertaining and possibly educational. I’m definitely happy for these cards, thanks for watching!
You made out pretty well, Theo. I like these reveal videos and the info behind each card. I think I’ll get there someday where I buy rare cards and send them in. At this point in my collecting I like buying already graded because I’m too lazy to put in the work 😆 Good job bro, enjoyed the video
Haha, to each their own. Maybe one day you’ll have some cards that you can’t pass ungraded and you take the plunge. Thanks for watching man and the kind words! 👊🏻
Grats on the successful submission. That bazooka looked really nice
Thanks Adam! I’m definitely happy with it and the grade. Appreciate you watching!
congratulations theo on the clemente. love it
Thanks Ray!
Great breakdown, Theo! Thanks for putting this grading reveal together with the Chris Sewell - like presentation!
Thanks buddy! I think looking at cost of grading plus raw card is very important perspective. We all have a budget to keep in check. Have a good one!
Loved this Theo! Love that Laughlin card! I was just looking at them this week thinking what a cool set it is! Great job on the pickups! Thanks for sharing the process
Yeah they are super cool. The guy I got it from is an expert on them, I’m gonna try to have him on a show. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
Hi Theo. Those are nice looking cards and congrats on those grades.
Thanks Jim! Definitely happy to have these in my collection!
Great Job Theo love it !!! 3 more off the list impressive 👊👊👊 thanks for letting us enjoy this with you 🤙🤙🏆
Thanks Dylan, I’m chugging along, man do I love these cards! Appreciate you watching and sharing in my enjoyment! 😀
Congrats on the great return! That Bazooka is sweet and the Transogram looks amazing regardless of it missing the dashed lines.
Definitely a great card, and cool yellow match to Pirates colors! Thanks for checking this out John!
Awesome cards
Fantastic grades
Congrats 😊
Thanks James, much appreciated! 😊
Great stuff thanks for sharing your results. I have been buying primarily SGC graded to complete my Topps playing days collection. I'm open to raw, but have been getting some good deals on graded. I'm down to 3 cards now, just need a 63, 56 and then the 55 RC. Thanks again and take care.
I bought almost all my Clemente base cards graded. You’re right, it’s better not to take the risk. They are plentiful cards, try to use the auctions to your advantage! Thanks man for watching!
That Laughlin is such a tough card! Congrats my friend. I was so happy for you when you showed me that Bazooka card at Strongsville! A freaking 3!!!!! 🤯🤯🤯 Hell yeah
Yes, I’m definitely happy! Thanks for sharing in my enjoyment! 😀
@@ClementeCollector of course my man! I saw it on your face!
Nice grades Theo 👌 Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much! Loving these additions!
Very nice reveal & very nice breakdown on your methodology. By the way, that Laughlin car is really cool. I did not know why it is so hard to find. Now I understand. Thanks for the neat video Theo.
Yeah, kind of cool it’s the rarest one! Thanks for the nice words brother! And thanks for watching! 😀
Nice job, Theo - great cards!
Thanks buddy 👊🏻
Always a gamble, but looks like you made out OK. Thanks for sharing.
Yes for sure! Thanks for watching!
Boom! So awesome on the 3 especially. Loved them all but being an O-Pee-Chee "parallels" fanatic, I like that 1970 almost as much. Being up $113 only increases from here. Congratulations!
The OPC cards are awesome, so under appreciated! Definitely glad to have these cards added to the collection, thanks for watching and the nice comment!
Still a great TransoGram Theo!🤯 Great looking!
Thanks Warren, I agree! I love it!
Very sweet Clementes!
Thanks! 👊🏻
Congrats on the grades - good video
Thanks so much Craig!
Theo, congrats on 1k subs, and answering the raw vs. already graded. Buying the ungraded vintage seems to work out well for you. You have the eye, I hope you do a 1k Q&A. I can ask some other questions !!
Haha, maybe for the giveaway, I’m doing a live for that! Appreciate you watching as always and sharing in these awesome Clemente’s!
@@ClementeCollector Okay..sounds good
Great cards, congrats on the grades
Thanks man! 😊
Killer Bazooka! Well done!
Thanks!!! Bazooka 💪
Hi Theo. Congrats on your grades, that 63 Bazooka is ab beauty. Talk soon my friend.
The Strongsville pick-up, what a great trip! Great meeting you there, thanks for watching and the support!
Great cards!
Thanks!!!
It comes down to experience. Buying raw cards to grade is risky for new graders. I would recommend doing cheaper cards in the beginning and gaining experience before getting into $100 plus raw cards.
You make a great point there, beginners should definitely not buy over $100 raw cards, with hopes of a certain grade. Thanks for pointing this out! Appreciate you watching too!
First yeah boy. Keep up the great videos 🎉🎉
First! Thanks so much!
Super glad to see it slabbed and I agree, it definitely looks a lot better than the two you presented. Can't help but love those damn transograms!
Thanks again man, it’s an awesome card, happy to be in the transogram club! 😃
There are some that anything they touch, turns to gold. For most of us though, it is a hit or miss unless you study the markets as you do and are patient in the search. The points you make on buying raw then grading are well taken.
Haha, thanks Dan! Yeah I’m not gonna say I don’t have luck sometimes, as we know grading is hard to guess. To be fair, I’m buying oddball, which sometimes gets less attention in auctions. But thanks for the comment and watching!
Sammy went to you first?! Man I thought we were tight. 😂
Hahaha, he actually didn’t come to me, he had it for sale at his table and I told him to take it down immediately.
I snooze I lose
@@MrJmangini ehh, Im definitely jealous of that 55 postcard. You have a gem there!
Great video and fantastic cards. I don’t know if you know Roberto was sight by the Brooklyn Dodgers
Yes I did, could you imagine if he stayed on that team, wow they would have been even better! Thanks for watching, and the comment! 😀
@@ClementeCollector I believe he was the greatest player I saw play and I’m going to be 77 years old this year Clemente could do it all
@@sabinoruiz2080 he really could! So awesome you got to see him! Thanks for sharing! 😀
Awesome reveal Theo! All super cool cards, but I love the Transogram! Thanks for sharing!
Yeah it’s definitely a great card and I got it from a great friend, so even better. I love the yellow team match of the set!
Congratulations on the Clemente SGC 3!! You really have a treasure with that card!!
Thanks Ken, it’s really a cool card and hard to find! Thanks for watching and commenting! 👊🏻
Nice reveal! Congrats!
Thanks Mike!
3D 80s Kid just did a video showing his 1971 Clemente in a 4.5. lol Why did the Clemente family ask that the Laughlin card not be distributed?
What I read was, because Fleer used his image without asking or a contract. So they ended production of that card. Damn John, and his 71!
@@ClementeCollector You realize I am messing with you about John right? lol
@@CleanCheapShots oh of course! It’s all in good fun, or I wouldn’t of made a contest getting back at him 😉
Hi Theo,
Thanks for your video of your SGC submission. It’s always a good day when Roberto Clemente is involved.
I like you have many 4 and 5 grade cards in my collection.
Thanks for your good works in the hobby.
Best Wishes,
Peter
Thanks Peter! 4-5 grades are definitely my wheelhouse, I think grading company’s are harsh on vintage and 4-5 are great cards! Thanks for watching and the kind words!
Well done my friend. Sweet Transogram Enjoyed
Thanks Scott, definitely a sweet card!👊🏻
Do you usually buy raw at shows instead of online? I've had disappointing results with buying raw cards on eBay. I live in an area where there are only about two decent shows per year, so I tend to get impatient. One day I'll learn my lesson.
It’s probably 60/40 more often on eBay because I only go to 2-3 shows a year, but one is the National. I think you really have to be careful on eBay, if it’s not one of the big guys, I’m looking very close at the pictures on my computer. Reading the description. If it’s too vague, I’m sending questions to the seller. If the seller is being deceitful, I don’t mind doing a return or messaging them after I receive the cards. Good rule of thumb is looking at the lowest grade you feel it would get, then try not to bid higher then that. Most situations you will be fine.
Congrats on the results Theo! 63 bazooka looks great!
Thanks buddy! It’s a great card!
Wow, the Bazooka really worked out well. I think it's always wise to keep an open mind whether it be buying graded or raw.
Hybrid approach is definitely best approach. But yes, the bazooka getting a grade definitely made it a great buy for my wallet.
Outstanding results, Theo. I feel much better about taking that sweet Bonilla money off of you!
lol, now Bonilla day is gonna hit different for me! Thanks for watching!
You have the King Midas golden touch with SGC! Great job with the Bazooka Joe. It was worth beating the hell out of that dealer!!!!!
🤣🤣🤣 You’re hilarious! So happy to have you by my side for that sweaty negotiation!
I think your Transogram is definitely better than both that PSA A (way miscut) and the SGC A (weird cut on the bottom). I feel like you'd easily be able to get 200 or more for that. Nice shoutout to Sammy and Mookie, great guys in the hobby.
Great reveal on the Bazooka! Love to see your excitement. Happy for you my man.
Yeah I’d agree it’s worth more the $200 sale, I never want someone to feel I’m fixing the numbers to try to prove my viewpoint, so tend to be conservative in this video. But ultimately, it’s definitely never leaving the collection and I’m happy to have it and the story of how it was found. I just need to find the 70 transogram now too. The bazooka is definitely sweet and thanks for sharing in my enjoyment!
Today, I bought a 1971 Topps Roberto Clemente SGC 6. Chris Sewall, Baseball Card Collector Investor Dealer was, there with me, too. I can't be entered since I don't post videos, but just want to let you know. That, I am better than, John. 3D 80's Kid. 😅.
🤣🤣🤣 Well you just got a Freckin iconic card! Congrats Andrew! Welcome to the club my friend! 😎
@@ClementeCollector Thanks, Theo ! See you at the trade night !
With how tight the general market is, and how competitive it is these days.. I'm personally in the mind thinking saving a few grand and waiting/ targeting buying collections from older collectors wanting out to be the best option. Maybe one purchase a year, then part and sort it all ect.. I'm totally curious your thoughts on this general thinking. Enjoy the channel btw.
I think value wise your right. As far as buying what you want to collect, that strategy forces you to be a dealer and use the profits to buy cards you want. Not a bad thing just saying it definitely has layers to it. Also, without a table at a show or a reputation, it might be hard to find such buy out situations. Not impossible but definitely need to really stay on top of Facebook marketplace and so on. I wish you luck if you try this route and I’d love to hear updates! The hunt is a lot of fun sometimes!
@@ClementeCollector I have a rather nice flea market near me. I've helped the local culture running booths ect for a long time. Connections and being known/ ( in the good Ole boy club) has its benefits over time. There is a whole world of ways doing this thing! Where I'm from, if you know people, ever so often you get perks for honoring people.
@@royakard8536 well your in a great spot then! Stay patient and I’m sure the right opportunity will come your way!
Congrats on getting the 3 grade, "She's a beaut, Clark"
LOL!!!! Love it, hope John doesn’t find a 3.5!
@@ClementeCollector I hope so too!!
These are so dramatic. By the way, I will be at the Main Line Autographs Show tomorrow (Saturday).
Haha, thanks man! I might not go until Sunday because of soccer. Have fun!!!
@@ClementeCollector I picked up a Clemente piece that I missed out on last year. I’ll probably show that item sometime next week.
@@mathbowler2782 that’s awesome! I can’t wait to see it! Good call on moving it up to share with everyone! 😀
Whether graded or raw, eBay sellers rarely describe actual condition and are reluctant to answer questions. Their scans often fail to show flaws (wrinkles, creases, divots, impressions, etc.). Relying solely on provided pics can cause lots of regret. Be careful out there.
Very true. Thanks for mentioning these things and I’ll try on my next reveal to mention these points. Thanks for watching!
Theo, congrats on the 1963 Bazooka in a 3! So happy to see that your SGC submission went very well and saved you some 🍩minus 🥜minus 🫛!
Haha, saved 🧀! Definitely happy that SGC agreed with me on the bazooka! Thanks for watching my friend! 😀
