FINALLY! Someone else said it! Thank you! 😂 I have been screaming about this double meaning since the first time I heard the song. I love it because Ren is the only person who can use it and have the double meaning work. It's so perfectly genius! I thought my head was going to explode. I have been looking for another person to point this out for over a YEAR! I haven't seen anyone else mention it until you. ❤️🩹💐
Nice catch! you can listen to the song hundred times and still not getting every layer and triple Or to put it in Ren's words " by now, by now, should have really figured this shit out…"😎
It is Welsh. I think it translates to: Sickness are my teachers, My smile broke, My bones feel old, Here lies the body of Ren. At least this is the translation I found.
I love when people *feel* this one. Reactors so rarely do. They tend to hear it, the good ones understand it, but not enough feel it. You guys are great.
The first verse after the Welsh intro, Ren has said, came from an actual event when he was living with his mom and he'd gone to get some water and collapsed from the pain in his legs (which he's described as "feeling like his bones were growing out of his skin". In addition to Lyme, he deals with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (causing his food allergies), and Dysautonomia (a central nervous system condition). The fact that he can take such pain and transmute it to songs like this... we do not deserve Our Boi.
They say you can't see something new twice. When I watch your reactions and see it through your eyes it takes me back to when I first discovered it and allows me to see it new through your eyes. WHO WE BE?
That was actually my first thought when the song finished. I discovered a little while back that while you can't experience something for the first time twice, reaction videos get as close as possible and allows us the viewers to vicariously experience something for the first time again.
this one is, for me, one of his finest works lyric wise. An unblinking, honest description of chronic pain. The combination of constant pain, lack of hope, giving birth to not just doubt and anxiety, but despair. Despair for your body, your mind, your very soul... all while that relentless beat hammers out each second of your life like grains of sand through the hourglass Death holds in front of you. Wait til you hit the combo, Suic!de and Freckled Angels
From what I understand renwhen he wasn't diagnosed was going through the Lyme disease as it progresses without medication, which causes intense pain, fever psychosis and a lot of other issues, the chronic pain is part of it. And even after he was diagnosed correctly by then. It was a little too late for some of the other things. I think hopefully this medical treatment will help him, but there's a high chance that he's gonna be dealing with this for the rest of his life. This is one of my favorites.Another really good one is Humble.
The number of people that are affected by chronic pain … but are invisible to the rest of the world is insane. For those of us affected, this song cuts so deep! 😢❤️
Exactly. He’s put into words what I struggle to say and feel his words to my core. He’s made a lonely existence a little less alone and encourages a little more fight
Boys before you do the whole Sick Boi album (which is a must) - do HUMBLE (Reggae vibes) you’ll love and Sweet Little lady, The Big Push (for another walking classic with multiple instrument’s). You will not be disappointed
I missed the live, but was glad to see this posted! A little backstory - Ren had most of the Sick Boi written and ready to roll out before he left the UK to go to Canada for treatment. That was Dec 2022. Then he released the video for Hi Ren and he had no idea it would go viral and have such an impact on people. Throughout 2023, he slowly but steadily released the recorded tracks and videos. But he was afraid some of the songs wouldn’t quite measure up to the bar of expectations that Hi Ren set. So he wrote Seven Sins (which became the opening track on the album) and Money Game 3, which was the final release before the album release on October 13th. The number symbolism was intentional, since he had been sick for 13 years … which he mentions in this song. But for him, 13 is turning into a lucky number, because the album debuted at #1 on the UK charts!! You should watch the short video Ren has on his page from when he found out it was #1! It still brings tears to my eyes, since I know how hard this journey has been and how much it means to him. Plus achieving what he’s accomplished as an independent artist unable to do any touring or standard promotion is crazy. So this song and the album are quite significant.
Ren's vocabulary is stellar! I thought I had a diverse vocabulary but Ren has taught me words I've never heard used prior to his music. I think this also adds to his artistic ability.
Been waiting for y'all to get to this. Lyrically, rens best song by far. Outrageous poetry + outrageous production = banger. Should be a much bigger track in terms of acclaim
"The theme of this one is pain...and reflection..." as you both sit silently reflecting, letting all of those thoughts and feelings just wash over you. More listens and they'll permeate your soul. Ren has such a gift for touching people on multiple levels. I agree with another commenter that I love the way you guys appreciate the music, not by just liking it or even by understanding it, but by truly feeling it - a must for REN's music. Sometimes those feelings are intense and deeply profound. Other times they are playful and full of joy. Believe it or not, you've only scratched the surface! Enjoy💜💜💜
You guys should watch Zach Sang's interview with Ren he reveals a lot of what he's been thru medically, physically and the mental repercussions as well very eye opening. This song is so powerful a veritable gamechanger🖤🖤🖤So much respect to Ren and hoping he is feeling better soon
BANG ON! Ren describes his pain and illness as a 'friend' as well as enemy! Comfortable in that it's been by his side so long. Lyme's has caused him chronic physical pain that never completely goes away and at it's worst made showering excruciating and had him bed ridden 23 hrs a day. Unfortunately I tjink he has been back to that in the last couple months... frikin tragic. 😢
I quickly became a Renegade as a person with fibromyalgia and processed sugars eventually gave me terrible muscle spasms, it took 5 years and moving to another state in the US in order to get a proper diagnosis as opposed to it just being in my head and my muscle sensitivity to sugars I had to figure out on my own because my doctors had absolutely no idea, just kept guessing and were never right, Ren has taken me from a person that has barely lived in 20 years to someone that is looking into getting my courage up to bring more laughter into the world very soon 🤘🏽🔥⚡🎶❤️🔥🫶🏽
I was definitely one of those people yelling "Seven Sins" in your comments. 😂 I knew that you both would appreciate this one so much. The beat is a masterpiece and the lyrics are genius in motion. If I was forced to pick one favorite track from the Sick Boi album, it would be this one. I'm so thrilled that you loved it, too! 👽💐
This one takes you on such a journey. The First time I heard it I could barely catch my breath. You could actually feel what he was going through. Hopefully he’s on the mend now. His cheekiness is starting to come back out. ♥️🇨🇦♥️🇨🇦
You both are so good at articulating the feelings that Ren's music taps into, and that is no easy feat. Love the work you do, and Seven Sins is one of my very, very favorites. Masterclass in reaction videos!
Ren really put everything in this one! Its a powerful song! Ren constructed a song with poetic precision and layered it with things only Ren can do! It is another masterpiece! Love your reactions and how you recognize greatness❤
Thank you from a Sick Girl in Aus. I appreciate you both so much. I really love that you really listened and let yourselves feel. I often feel not seen nor heard dealing with this illness, yet you listened to Ren and feel like you can understand where some of us sick boys and girls are.
Seven Sins is so underrated. Really deserves to be better known. It's so, so good all ways round. Loved watching you discover this one. This is why we were telling you you needed it!
Yes guys, this is the opening track on the Sick Boi album. There is a extended version of the album, ( only available from Bandcamp), It has an otherwise hidden track called, 'Castles Made Of Sand'. Many, (included myself), think it's one of his best. Please react to it. Only a handful of reactors have covered it.
That day on the floor wss the day he fell into psychosis because of an immune reaction to another treatment. He was clawing at the floor screaming in pain.
Seven Sins is one of my favourite Ren songs. A brilliant and *fo-Ren-sic* dissection of pain to give us a small window into the hell he has been through. Not only that, but he is also breaking down the seven sins and how they can turn our species into a “sickness” of the world - especially greed. All to a fire beat 🔥 The song is also just the perfect opening track for the Sick Boi album. When you get deep enough into the rabbit hole to have listened to the full album, you will notice how it’s like a Reniverse tapestry of interconnected lyrics and references with this song hinting at what’s to come. I gotta say though… as Ren keeps growing and more people get to know him, the line “prophets get dropped imagining heaven” is sounding more and more foreboding. He is out there saving lives by giving us hope, inspiring positive change in the world, and asking us to look past our differences to come together as that is the only way he imagines us surviving as a species. There better not be any crazy people out there who would ever want to hurt him for attention! 🫣 We need Ren in the world ❤🐰🕳️
Happy Birthday for Thursday STG 😊🥳❤️ Listening party for the #1 Album Sick Boi would be superb!! Freakin awesome reaction to the opening track of the Album. Love you guys ❤
I think Ren said once in an interview, or maybe it was on a Twitch stream, that because he went undiagnosed for so long with the Lyme Disease, the infection triggered his own immune system to destroy a lot of the myelin sheath material in parts of his brain, which resulted in the pain receptors in his brain receiving signals that may not have ever actually been sent by his body. So he's constantly in pain, even when he's doing really well. In my opinion, this song is one of Ren's best - Hi Ren will always hold the #1 spot for me, for sentimental reasons, but this one is #2! Looking forward to Slaughterhouse, and I'm sending healing vibes to our Sick Boi! Oh, and Happy, Happy Birthday (early)!!!
Sick Boi Part 2 and Castles Made of Sand are 2 fabulous bonus tracks on Sick Boi. I also recommend checking out Troubles for more of Ren talking about his sickness journey.
Only Castles Made Of Sand is really a bonus track (only available on the deluxe edition on Bandcamp). Sick Boy Part 2 is the last track on the regular album.
So glad you did this song this week. You GUYS broke it down very well. KP got it right with the SHATTAP!! I mentioned the other day that this would melt Siah's brain in a good way.
A masterful reaction to a masterpiece of writing. You can feel the pain in every word. Definitely right up there, for me, as one of his best. Love what you guys do.💕
I can relate to this masterful piece by Ren more than any others. Chronic pain is no joke, add insomnia to that and daily stress and life soon becomes the biggest challenge of your life. Waking up and wondering if this is going to be the day that will be your end do to some chronic illness. Thanks guys for reaction, wonderful as always. ♥
It's Ren's flirting with death as you call it, he can create such raw, deep and visceral pieces of art, the urgency to purge and get his artistic expression out into the world. Being a Chronic Pain sufferer and saddled with a incurable genetic disease, I can tell you it is Ren's artistic creativity in which fuels him, being both a bane and a boon. On one hand he uses it as his drive and fuels his creative mind, but at the same time, as we know of recent it can also cause him to stumble and work against him. This is the paradox of Ren's Illnesses.
“Spitting flames” is so true. Ren is a master of his craft. The words, the drums and strings in this penetrate my soul. Awesome reaction boys, so so good. Also what a great birthday present to have Ren drop a song Siah! Take care.
Amazing reaction. This song gets me through my hard nights of pain, sickness, weakness, insomnia and tears dealing with my chronic illnesses. Ren has brought me so much hope and comfort.
I've been waiting for this giant bomb to pop off in your heads! 💣 THANK YOU for finally doing it!! In an interview Ren said Seven Sins is the song he's most proud of on the Sick Boi album, and I have to agree, it's my favorite! And yes, he knows agony intimately, and his ability to share it the way that he did makes it incredibly relatable. It's saddening to think he's suffered this brutally but also comforting to know we're not alone in that ❤️🩹 PLEEEEEEEEEEASE do a listening party for the whole album! I'll call in sick to work for it! FANTASTIC reaction! Love you boys 🫶
Love your reactions, whichever way they go. Ren was really proud of this one, there’s footage of him when he finished it somewhere 🙂. And Siah, I’ve seen the Jim Carrey video where he talks about some spiritual dude telling him that depressed = deep rest for the mind, you remembered right.
Happy birthday Siah! I've listened to this song nearly every day since it came out and it never gets old. If you do a listening party, don't forget to include my other favourite song that almost made it onto the album - Castles made of Sand. It's available on bandcamp as part of the deluxe version of the album.
Great reaction guys 👍❤ Seven Sins is just genius. A few details: - The lines "I lay broken on the kitchen floor. I clawed at the laminate." at the beginning describe what really happend to Ren after a certain treatment catastrophically went wrong. He describes it in Chapter 6 in his autobiographical readings, which you can find on his RenMakesStuff channel. I always recommend to watch them. It's not necessarily something for a reaction. But you learn a lot about Ren and his story. Very personal and emotional videos. You will understand his songs even better afterwards and they become more intense. - As far as I know "God tied a noose to his neck..." is something he saw in one of his psychoses. - "A rose emerges from the pavement cracks" is a poem by Tupac Shakur.
I have elhers danlos syndrome simplified it's chronic pain, nausea, fatigue, sub-locations, dislocations and +++. Ren is our savior. Not to save our souls just to be heard.
Ren released 8 chapters I believe, labeled 'ren life story' he goes into detail about all the things he's been through and how he got to where he is today, it's a good watch if you want to learn more about his background and where his ideas for art stem from ☺️. Great reaction too✌🏼
Love this reaction 😂. You guys are always fun to watch but this was extra special. I could tell how much you were blown away. And quite rightly too. Seven Sins is a fucking masterpiece IMHO. Musically, composition, message and flow. It's as good a track as any I've ever heard.
Now you both understand what Ren went through. He was misdiagnosed for 10 years he had Doctors that had him with excruciating pain he suffered 23 hours a day and still has pain.LOVE YOU BOTH
Loving y’all’s videos. The true enjoyment of music is so evident. I’m here for it

Good morning boiz! Oh what a joy to hear the utterance of TDIP in the morning. Yes yes yes! we all need a Ren's listening party. And what a delight to see your faces right after they've been slapped: SHATTAP! You are two marvelous souls my bredrens. Jah guide and protect!
this is my favorite ren song (and that's saying something).. and also isn't something I'd recommend to newcommers to ren's music. You appreciate it more knowing his story and context. I'm really glad to see you both react to it here. It's special.
I love the visuals for this video so much! The brightness, the flashing, the way things are slightly distorted or crackly. It is a pretty good representation of what a true soul-rending migraine/cluster headache feels like when you try to look at anything bright. I once had one for a solid two weeks (occipital neuralgia was the culprit) and all I could do was lie in bed with a cold cloth over my eyes and listen to the radio, and try not to throw my broth up. It reminds me of bad times for me, but there is catharsis in knowing you aren't suffering alone.
This track is the only one I can't find words for....i know now its because it's Ren's story....he goes through all stages of grief except for acceptance...he will never accept defeat from his bed where he never deep rests...and the raw anger and emotion is so evident... dissolution and resentment towards his God... "I cursed my Maker, cursed my Mesiah" having no contol over the pain that "ricochet through his body like a Mac10". Just incredibly personal.
I've heard this song reacted to time and time again. NOBODY ever brought up that the language at the beginning was likely Welsh. NOBODY ever brought up the Deep Rest, Depressed scheme (I didn't even know it was there until you pointed it out). You are becoming my absolute favorite reactors. Thanks!
The positive thing about Ren is he uses his pain as fuel for his music. Letting others know your not the only one. Knowing it's not just you going through something can give you some kind of solice.
I think the reason he was able to be on the edge of flirting with death and spit these flames, because at a certain point you have to find a way to distract yourself from the pain and the only thing you can do that doesnt add to your pain is think, think some some, and toss the words around in your head so much that you figure multiply ways to say the same thing.
Some of the best poems, music, stories, spoken word, art and even humor- is born from the dark places of pain & suffering & only when brought to light is that pain & suffering made bearable and the circle complete.
I've watched this piece by Ren so many times, and I see something new every time. I'm so happy to see you go through it! I can't imagine the pain Ren is in. My prayers are with him now during his current flair up of symptoms.
Love you guys and this reaction! If you want to know more about Ren's illness and his life, you should watch his 8 chapters. In them, he tells his whole story, which is incredible. Each one averages 15-20 minutes, and includes a song at the end. You can find them on his regular youtube channel, in a "Troubles" playlist, or on his other channel, renmakesstuff. They give you a lot of insight into Ren's life and his music. Well worth watching!
Yes!!!! One of my favourite tracks from Sick Boi…..a great opening track….you can really hear how far his writing and the production has developed. Watching how you guys took this in 💜🔥love it!!!!
Adore this track. Opening track of Sick Boi. The layers. And it gets better the more you listen to it because different lines hit different depending on life. Deffo one for the playlist.
*see* new TDIP - stop whatever else I'm doing and *click*. Love you guys!
We love YOU!!
OBVIOUSLY!!!!
💯 SAME!
100!!
Ditto 100% ❤
Crime scene forensic.......FOR-RENS-SIC

Or to put it in Ren's words " by now, by now, should have really figured this shit out…"😎

Anyone else here 3-11 influence on the Lights On Lights Out part? 90’s girl here and I always hear that. Great great great reaction guys!
It is Welsh. I think it translates to: Sickness are my teachers, My smile broke, My bones feel old, Here lies the body of Ren. At least this is the translation I found.

They say you can't see something new twice. When I watch your reactions and see it through your eyes it takes me back to when I first discovered it and allows me to see it new through your eyes. WHO WE BE?
100% agree.

'Condescending ' is an amazing way to describe chronic pain
I agree! A word you wouldn't normally think of to describe pain, but still is perfect and communicate so much subtext.
It is the lyric that relate to the most. And it is perfection.
I’ve even described my pain as this. no one even could understand what it means or was.
A song that doesn’t get enough love is Wicked Ways by REN- the flows are 🔥.
def, wicked ways is a perfect follow up to Seven Sins.
That and sick boi2
Agreed!❤
What about Castles Made Of Sand!
Wicked Ways is my favorite track! I had it as my alarm in the morning for a while.
Now, this is a reaction that does this song justice.
Right😊
Watching the first few mins of this going "Oooohh, oh they aren't ready for the switch ups. They aren't READY!" Great reaction as always :)
this one is, for me, one of his finest works lyric wise. An unblinking, honest description of chronic pain.
The combination of constant pain, lack of hope, giving birth to not just doubt and anxiety, but despair.

OMG the whole Sick Boi album?? YAAAS! Can't wait!
His next song is "slaughter house" and it's a banger, heard him perform it live at the secret garden party, it's going to blow people's minds!

Salute!
"Spitting through agony" - how very apt.
Lol you unlocked Ren lyric video stage. They are BRILLIANT. ALL OF THEM
“Spitting flames” is so true.
It's saddening to think he's suffered this brutally but also comforting to know we're not alone in that ❤️🩹
PLEEEEEEEEEEASE do a listening party for the whole album! I'll call in sick to work for it! FANTASTIC reaction! Love you boys 🫶
Totally agree, Ren's lyric videos are crazy. Adds an extra dimension.
The God line hits so freaking hard and makes questions reflection thought REN MAKES PPL THINK
wicked ways is a must after this one
When you talked about “Flirting with death”, it makes me think of REN’s “Ready for you” track.
Great reaction as always guys🫶
Please do a listening party!!!!!! We would be so there for that!
Love your reactions, whichever way they go.
Ren was really proud of this one, there’s footage of him when he finished it somewhere 🙂. And Siah, I’ve seen the Jim Carrey video where he talks about some spiritual dude telling him that depressed = deep rest for the mind, you remembered right.
yessssss 👍🏾👍🏾
hugs all around, so happy you did seven sins and u guys get it! cause the end of the track was a little drum and bass, hugs
Happy birthday Siah! I've listened to this song nearly every day since it came out and it never gets old. If you do a listening party, don't forget to include my other favourite song that almost made it onto the album - Castles made of Sand. It's available on bandcamp as part of the deluxe version of the album.
Great reaction guys 👍❤
Seven Sins is just genius.
A few details:
- The lines "I lay broken on the kitchen floor.
Crucify Your Culture, Lost All Faith and Hetetic will blow u away too I reckon. And as for pain....and totally different Crutch Ren with Bibi) 😊❤
this is my favorite ren song (and that's saying something).. and also isn't something I'd recommend to newcommers to ren's music. You appreciate it more knowing his story and context. I'm really glad to see you both react to it here. It's special.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen you speechless 😂. My favorite Ren song ❤
Best reaction of this song i've seen to date 🎉 new watcher👊
So, I believe that you guys liked it.
There's a point when merely liking Ren transforms into something else. I think we just witnessed this.
Been waiting for your take on this, and it didn't disappoint. Amazing reaction guys 🙏❤️🤟🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Same here: “hate that he’s sick, and love that he’s sick”. Great reaction, guys. ❤
Deffo one for the playlist.
loved it. Rens ability to switch up the beats & flows is insane. I remember when Hip Hop was a dozen samples to make a track with a verse & chorus.
Masochist by Ren is also great.
This is my favorite REN song and that says a lot! Meaning, performance, beat changes, best summary of the sick boi album themes.
Yes!!! Gonna watch now !! Excited. Woop Woop 🙌🏼
For Ren Sick forensic
Ren is a masterpiece with lyrics. This is one of my favorite songs on the album.
This reaction was so amazing- the way you two interact is so special ❤
Ren said that Seven Sins is his favorite song from Sick Boi album 😉 Great reaction guys, lot of fun watching you 😘
