Thank you for featuring Angelina again. I hope you will do many more reactions to her, as she is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on UA-cam, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener.
This is Angelina's tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original.
There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below,
(a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled.
(b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers.
(c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it.
(d) The smile on the face of the Bass player.
(e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine"
(f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted.
(g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song.
(h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time.
(i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word
(j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody.
(k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying.
(l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella!
Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

It's an amazing song
I’m grateful that her family has nurtured and shared her development with us while protecting her from exploitation. It’s so rare that we see a true prodigy like Angelina grow before our eyes and ears. Vocal experts say she reached masterclass level at 10. You would enjoy listening to many of her songs at that age. Her songwriting talent is equally impressive- Her first original, What is Life, she performed at 11. She’s been journaling since she was 6, published a book at 9 about why she sings barefoot. She said recently she has 100 songs written from her personal journals. We are in for a wild ride.

I have watched Angelina every day for 9 years. I have not become bored because she has been constantly exploring her voice, it's potential, texture, colour and tone. The result is she can now do it all. It is a question of choice.

Regarding fame and celebrity: There are many examples of children who became famous at a young age. Sometimes some of these have had difficulties later in life! Angelina's family wants Angelia to have a normal upbringing and be a child and teenager like everyone else. When Angelina is off from school, she has performed in tons of shows all over the world. Most were charity shows for children. Angelina has lived in several countries and traveled a lot during her upbringing. She is well aware of the different conditions that exist in different countries! Angelina and her family have turned down many who wanted to sign a contract with her. But at 14, she signed on for the Republican record. The condition of this contract is that Angelina and her family decide when it is time to promote her fully.
She is 17 now and has a new EP out. Every recording is top notch. Choose any song by Angelina and you are onto a winner. 😊😊😊😊😊

Angelina 9 yo. Look at her! She controls the entire recording. She has the power and ability to carry this out. The fact that she then has an outstanding fantastic voice and theatrical body language only makes everything even better. The musicians are also amazingly good. They give everything to complete this masterpiece! This little Norwegian girl reads the English lyrics while singing! She is from Norway and they speak Norwegian there. English is Angelina's 3rd language! Already at 5-6 years old, she understands exactly what is meant in the English lyrics! Incredible!

Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with some of the same band members at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start, followed by her saying she wants to start over, later she tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly.
