It’s a productive fishing method whenever there is enough flow to drift eggs. Winter is definitely the best time of year but it’s still really effective outside of winter too
It works anytime the canals are flowing. The canals tend to be used to produce power more in autumn through until spring so in summer it’s less likely to be flowing. Winter and early spring is awesome for it though
The line to the drop shot sinker is quite a bit shorter than the line to the hook - about half a metre to the sinker where as the line to the hook is about 1.2 - 1.5 metres
Cheers Lance thanks for the vid! Helpful 🙏
Nice down to earth explanation without "yewing" or other overexcitement. Good stuff!

Thanks for the informative vid. Am a fly fisherman but have wanted to give egg rolling a go.
Thanks for the feedback 👍🏼
What net are you using here or do you have any good suggestions for good nets when walking the canals?
McLean XL for the canals. Rapala karbon trout net for everywhere else
Hi lance, is egg rolling still effective at this time of year or more so just in winter?

Side drifting minus the boat🤙
Does the egg method work during all times of the open season? Or is it just a spring thing?
