This literally feels like GLaDOS making her turret ensemble rehearse. Musically it is everything I fight against, but the entire thing is so hilarious that I lowkey like it. Not many modern style classical composer manage to make me feel that. Congrats, you joined Ligeti.
This is the only way that makes sense to me to keep the 'classical' corpus of orchestras and 'classical' venues alive: By exploring what the antique sound body developed for over hundreds of years has to contribute to contemporary culture today. For me: This is the sound of the present. Of the Now. There is so much boldness and courage in a work like this. truly inspiring!
wow, what a massive sound at the end! Edit: I'd also love to see the score. I've never heard a modern piece like this written for such a huge group before.
I think my favorite moment is 3:50, when the computer doesn't have time to finish its instruction before the music explodes. Like a declaration of independence.
Now I'm no authority in music nor some cultural prophet, but this may very well be our generation's landmark piece and a turning point for Western Classical Music. Ben Nobuto might just be shaping the future...
this floored me like no piece of music has in since i literally cannot remember when. do i hear james ferraro influence? absolutely insane. love this to bits
See modern composers, you don't need to throw beauty away to make a "quirky" piece. When I saw the David Bruce video, I came here assuming I would be hearing just one of these "postmodern classical" pieces that only exist to be clever but are musically empty (or even hideous), but this was actually really enjoyable throughout. Bravo.
What a fantastic piece! I love the novel, creative concept, and the wide variation in emotions it evokes: from humour over fascination to delight and enchantment. I was blown away by the goosebump-inducing finale. This piece deserves to be performed live around the world. Congratulations!
Heard the opening bit on a local classical music station; but, after hearing the full piece, it sounds amazing. It kinda sounds like glitchy Frutiger Aero but in a good way (like a well-used but still playable Nintendo Wii game).
Extremely inspiring to other composers, I forecast that it will influence a whole new sound-world in contemporary composition. It’s very communicative both to musicians and the general public audience. I think it’s a foundational work to influence other composers to move into finding the zeitgeist, the sound of our time.
Just wow! I hope this piece will have many more chances to be performed in the future! I used to sing in the BBC Symphony Chorus and I would have loved to perform it!
Finally, a clear tutorial for Hallelujah, I've been trying to beat it all day
Just watched David Bruce's video on you .. and had to come and see this. What a wonderful ride.
Got here by the same way:)
same.
Just watched David’s video midway and I couldn’t resist to come here to give a listen.
Same here, couldn't even make it midway, and I ran here to check it out

Conozco un profesor de filosofía de la música que dijo lo mismo.
@@musicafilosofia731 Parece que o pensamos muy similar o conocemos el mismo profesor! Haha!

I can't articulate how musically brilliant this is. And that final harmonic progression climaxing at 9:40 to 9:45 is a pure expression of joy!
It's so bright and fresh! It also must be difficult to perform. Well done!
Das Mahlerzitat ist unglaublich. Danke

Really enjoyed this performance. A little too much clapping at the end for certain tastes, of course, but this music is wonderful.
Imagine what Mr.Bean would create as the conductor?
A lesson to any beatmaker 😅
