    The older you get, the more you choose calmness over conflict and distance over disrespect. Drama becomes intolerable to you and your peace becomes your ultimate priority. You start surrounding yourself with people who are good for your mental health, heart and soul.

    Its always interesting to see how people react to Greene's books. The absence of moral judgement is always a shock to the system and they react with disgust and concern.
    The books aren't immoral, just amoral. They paint an unsensored picture offering clarity and acceptance, rather than a typically righteous one.

      The book is often confused and judged hardly because people believe it is about control and belittling people. When in actual fact it is a deep discussion about what we crave and want from each other. To be a good lover is to be a master in giving people what they want, in a way where we can also fulfill what we want as well. It is a give and take.

    I really think the terminology is what turns people off of this and the laws of power. Sure the tactics displayed are overtly manipulative which is generally negative, but if we're being honest with ourselves almost any interaction with a goal involves some degree of manipulative behavior (think being extra nice and smiley when trying to make a good first inpression). Absolutely think the advice in his books can be used for bad or good, which he expresses in his interviews. But using the term "victims" definitely gives people the wrong idea lol.

    • @flura2360
      @flura2360 3 місяці тому +4

      My theory is, that he wants the terminology to be this way, to create a lure and a strong emotional reaction. And the ultimate seducer is one, who has you under his control, so it makes sense, that he uses this terminology for the overarching theme of the book. A normal person wouldn't ever want to dive into the behaviour of the later chapters, if they only seek to pursue a functional relationship.

      Personally (even as a female) I enjoy being the seducer so much. Being able to stir desire and take another person on a journey is extremely fulfilling for me. I know this is stereotypically a masculine role, but nevertheless I enjoy it by adding feminine twist to it.

      @@Zlata1Z Great question. I only go this far for extremely unique individuals that inspire me. Their presence gives me energy, and in return I enjoy giving them pleasure. I'm definitely no player nor a chronic seducer that goes after one night stand. That's how I have the time and energy. I believe only the rake and siren are the real seducers simply because their “method” is more catered and focused. You’d have to be extremely good at reading people to learn what they desire and become that. None of these are bulletproof 100% guaranteed success tho. This book is more about being more attractive to common people (outside of rake and siren) than actually seducing someone. So the breakdown would only make this book become a complete lie. No one can seduce someone into doing something they do not already desire without using of force of some kind. And furthermore a breakdown would remove the humanity and natural flow of the interaction which is useless because humans are not robots, one act can have thousands of different responses based simply on how its taken without even mentioning when and where. Just way too many variables.
