  • The times may seem to have been gone by now, but not too long ago the TU-154 was the flagship of most airlines in Russia, and it sure was UT Air’s most capable airliner at it’s time.
Flying on the Tushaks on short hops like the one between St. Petersburg and Moscow was always fun, since the TU-154M was very strong and powerful when it’s cabin and it’s tanks were half empty! UT flew three times a day between Russia’s two capitals, offering connections in Vnukovo.
The TU-154 with UT was a rather comfortable airliner, with it’s classic Soviet style seats. Carrying the name of Nikolay Baybakov, this TU-154 flew with Air VIA in Bulgaria, in Nigeria and in Macedonia, after finding it’s way to Russia. The cabin featured the latest of the TU-154 cabin versions…
Altogether flights into Vnukovo, aboard classic Russian airliners were always something emotional, with the Federations great capital beneath the gently swept wings of a Tushka. May the remaining TU-154s roam free for much longer!!!
