Takeoff Tauranga TRG Runway 25
A bit of a delay while a very minor battery issue was attended too. Engines on, we eventually begin our taxi out to Runway 25. Beautiful Takeoff in this mighty vintage taildragger over the Harbour and Tauranga City.
A stunning airliner that has been restored and looked after by Air Chathams. It's passionate people, like the ones at Air Chats and FlyDC3 that ensure future generations get to enjoy and appreciate this incredible part of history! Every phone and camera seemed to be pointed our way as we taxied out. Even the Pilots of the Waiting DH8C as we taxied past. :)
I have many childhood memories of this lovely aircraft! Thanks for sharing.
They are so special! Glad we still have access to fly on these glorious birds in this day in age! :)
fantastic
I flew on quite a few of these in the 1980's with Air BVI between San Juan, PR and Beef Island, Tortola.
Fixed cowl flaps. first I've seen that on a 3. Not a bad idea, eliminates the hydraulic actuators and complexity of the moveable ones. And the controls for them in the cockpit.
Amazing to think that these first flew only about three decades after the Wright brothers first flight.
You are so right, it really is amazing. How lucky we are to have these glorious old birds still airworthy today. A real testament to the quality of how they were built, and how they have been fastidiously maintained over the years :)
I wonder why those engine cowells close at the start and open when airborne, anyone?
крутота!
