Fuel economy fully loaded & towing the race car = 22.7L per 100km.
22 litres per 100 is crazy, mustve been really hilly roads
@@mrhaha4444ham Yeah the drive was VERY hilly. My tyre rack being so high and the high winds also didn't help. It will be interesting to see how it goes with lowering that tyre rack for the next trip!
A little vomit almost came up when I heard ya say 22/100 on the video 🤣
If you had highway terrains and fresh fuel. No doubt under 20/100.
Have you checked the fuel tank for a leak? I think it must be pissing out somewhere.😂
@@kw8757 It's leaking into this thirsty ass engine hahahaha
Sorry for the late upload, I tried as hard as I could to get the missing GoPro back before doing the edit!
The 1GR is a stout and reliable engine but not known for great economy. I have a bit of experience towing with a 2WD manual Hilux with one and even that can approach 18-20L per 100. With the weight of the Prado and the big muddies i'm surprised it wasn't more honestly. Not too bad all things considered. Looked like a great weekend!
Great Editing with the passengers footage. That music worked a treat!!
Thanks! Honestly I was shattered about losing the footage so this comment made me happy 😁
Loving this prado series keep it up!
Cheers Paul!
I had a 2005 V6 120 series (5 SPD auto) and with a 1.6t Jayco OB Swan, would sit around 17-18l/100 between Adelaide and Melbourne, I don't drive for economy at all, sat on 105-117kph depending on state. K&N air filter, snorkel and ran it on 95 or 98 which in hindsight was stupid, because used same on 91. I guess 1 less gear and the high tyre rack, I can see how used more, wind drag is more of a killer than weight on the highway for sure.
8:55 U were soooooo close that earnt a sub
Thank you bro! Made my day 😁
Great combo with the Prado and Drift cars. 4x4 150 Prado driver myself and really enjoying this run of videos. 👍🇦🇺
Cheers Jimmy! Nothing like travelling across Aus racing & enjoying this beautiful country.
I got my Prado 4.0 just over a year ago. Great car. In black too. Also love the drifting. Great combo.
that's been a good trip with the Prado and a good insight into drifting. that fuel usage isn't that bad considering the amount of wind Resistance you have. the prado is not very airo dynamic to start with and is 2800kg about. mine does 13.4lt per 100 along the highway without any trailer. like i said maybe some spark plugs, clean the MAF sensor, new air cleaner and possibly replace the fuel filter. it also wouldn't hurt to change the front and back diff oil and change the transfer case oil. it's separate from the transmission . grease the drive shafts and slip joints . also if you haven't already done it check out the suction screen it might be clean but that's alright because then you know. and replace the engine oil .i also think that the brake fluid needs to be replaced every 80000km so maybe look at that. pacemaker make extractors and a exhaust system for the 120 4.0v6 it's a few bits all together , i never worried about it for mine, but as that engine can have a supercharger kit fitted like the TRD that is when it's needed but it might be worth looking at as it might help for towing. i didn't know it just might make it louder .
Love the drifting thanks for the video
you uploaded unreal - have a godo day.brother~
If you haven’t already, clean the oil pick up screen in the sump, they clog up bad in the v6’s petrols if they haven’t had previous regular oil changes.
This is on the list of things to do!
Brother safe travels
Prado . Add extractors . If it has 4 cats delete 2 . Then extended the y pipe to behind the gearbox instead of under it
Ohhhhh! What benefit does this have?
@@itsmikelake good sound ;)
@@itsmikelake better flow . And more power
you spoke in an earlier video about bar work or the likes . if your not planing on using it for significant 4x4 ing I would keep the ally bar and save on weight . also tires will be hurting economy but look sick . hard choice .
Yeah I’ve always been a sucker for looks over economy 😅. Very much going for that tough black on black look. And the stock bar on it is unfortunately bent 🥲
Be cool to see the guy who sold you the Prado's reaction to it all finished.
Loving the tow rig content, something different to the yt norms is on point 👌
I’m actually taking the truck to show them once it’s done! Maybe I’ll see if I can film it 😜. Thanks Les, appreciate the kind words 😁.
still a great video even without the gopro buddy! you can already tell you have a long drift career ahead
Thanks team! Really appreciate that 😁
What plans do you have next for this rig? I reckon start fitting it out with some accessories snorkel, winch, bashplates, spotties, rack...
Wheels & bull bar / bash plate next! Upgrading the entertainment system, lights etc. & continuing to tidy it up 😁
The Bullbar is good just needs to be painted black like the side trims
Unfortunately it's bent from the previous owner. Very hard to tell on camera
What's the shifter like? Lots of these get a very wobbly shifter, can make it really easy to accidentally bump it into 3 over from Drive. There's a guy on Prado Point selling kits for it, it's a 15 minute fix and the kit cost me I think around $30 delivered
Mine is actually quite sloppy! I’ve been meaning to Google that actually so I really appreciate the info. I’ll order one now 😁 thanks!
Fuel economy will be sh#t house. It's a prado.. but I love my 120, best car I've owned.. 350ks still going strong as hell.
Agreed, I’m not too fussed about fuel economy as long as she tows well and is comfortable 😁. Love it!
@@itsmikelake i wouldn't put any type of bull bar on, makes economy even worse. Mud tryes don't help either, but looks awesome tho. I have coopers muddys, looks tuff.
@itsmikelake do you think 300ks on a petrol prado is still good?
What tyres you running dude??? 😍
Please do a review with the fuel ⛽️ consumption with no load on the car just normal driving work home
i was meant to say that you should clean the MAF sensor on the air intake, i think i told you map sensor in my previous comments.
I'll be doing the full engine overhaul next week! Spark plugs, air filter, cleaning sensors etc. Should help with fuel economy also.
@@itsmikelake I've found spark plugs make a difference as the original ones are just a standard type of plug that is meant to be changed every 30000km. i put double iridium in mine so I'll see how they go when they have 70000km on them. if you are going for after market plugs just make sure you get the long reach ones. very glad that you enjoyed your new to you Prado. they're a great vehicle.
id be interested to see what you get with 98, mileage should be better
Would be good to see kph after a dyno tune if more torque actually brings down kph when towing
I didn’t know you could tune these rigs! I’ll look into it 😁
Do the 285/70/17s scrub a lot?
I haven’t experienced any scrubbing so far other than when loaded with the trailer and going over random big humps in the road, I can VERY slightly hear some scrubbing. I believe the lower offset wheels will solve that.
E36 sedan gang
Hi 😊 do you use 91 or 95 unleaded in the Prado?
Currently using 91 & e10 whenever it’s available
@@itsmikelake thanks! Been using 95 in mine but not sure if its worth it or not.
E-10 is bad for fuel economy especially under load
I’ll have to do a test with the different fuel options to see which is best 😁
