Thanks for the video. Always something to watch with interest. There is a water shortage in practically all of Europe. To use fresh water to wash a boat that is heading out to sea again shortly is to be discouraged, strongly. Washing a boat is a copycat thing, especiallynwith land lubber newbies who think it is like a shiny new car, so if more stop doing it as a habit, then more will stop still. If you need to just rid the deck of dirt, use your deck wash pump and sea water. At the end of a passage proper it is time to wash down.
We don't have an end of passage, we would have to wait until winter. I understand your point regarding the shortage of water and Helios normally gets a wash down with salt water, by bucket, as we don't have a deck wash pump. However at least a couple of times a season it is good to use some fresh to get rid of some of the salt build-up.
Hi! The other day, Wednesday I believe, we were anchored beside you in Siracusa! We left early the next day so didn’t had time to came and say hi! We are in Taormina now, planning to sail up to the Eolie islands, maybe we will see you again soon! Aldo and Cetti S/Y Clio
So cool! I’m sorry we missed you! We would have loved to have met you. We are heading south to Malta this week so we probably won’t catch up soon. Perhaps next season 🤞. Take care, Jude and Richard.
Hi, thanks for supporting us! We really appreciate it 🥰. Our necklaces are our marriage symbol (rather than a ring). They are New Zealand greenstone or jade. It’s a mauri tradition. (Richard’s is from NZ). I’ll write an article on them for Sailing Helios Crew which I see you’ve just joined. It’ll go up today. Jude.
Yes. We’d just bought those yellow lines. We have since bought some chafe guard and used some mooring line to make a bridle. It slips over the mooring line and moves independently so reduces chafing. Richard then spliced plastic eyes to each end to tie the yellow floating lines to. Thanks for your input.
Hi Christa and Robert! We had a look at some of your videos. Nice! I love your induction cooktop. We are planning to replace our gas one day. I like the space now available behind it. Does it have gimbal stabilisation? Jude.
You are dexcibing the issues of a vector chart. Like you fo. Always zoom on your track. Even navigators in the RN and Clipper Race have made this mistake, as testified by wrecked vessels. Good spot.
Yes, I used to follow Vestas Wind in the Round the World Race and this is how they parked themselves on a reef off Afirca. It's something that we are always concious of whe using the charts
Thanks for another great video! Love the journey you are taking us on.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it
Good episode, great camera work, felt like I was on board.
Oh good! Thanks so much for saying so.

Always enjoy watching your videos, your onshore excursions to places I will probably never get to visit and your sailing in general.
Oh that’s so nice of you to say. Thank you! We will continue to take you to great places, and enjoy the sails on the way 😊.

Europe doesn't have a water shortage problem it has an overpopulation problem!

Look up Newcastle swing bridge , oldest in the world I believe and still uses same mechanism driven by water as the day it was built by lord Armstrong
Jude you are an absolute goddess 😍😍😍😍😍
What is the story behind the necklaces?

Jude.
Don’t those shorelines chafe when you tie them to the rocks? I use lifting-strop webbing to loop around the rock and then tie to that.

geez who has a bath with their sunglasses on?
Yeah it’s a bit weird to have a bath with fish, nearby spectators and in blinding sunshine too. We do get to do things a little differently.
