I recently worked on the house that a channel islands ripped owned and he let me try his 7"6 "mid , same color as the one in the review which by the way is stunning in person..... Took it out on several different swells the last time was head high to slightly bigger and the board worked great... Definitely going to be ordering one 👍🏄
Bought one 6'8" cause that is what was available on line. I have surfed it for the last 2 weeks here in Oceanside, CA and it kicks a$$. It is by far my new favorite board. Surf has been knee to chest and clean to slight onshore crumble and it works. I can't wait for some lined up point waves at a local spot near Carlsbad. I went from my 6'0" quad to this board. Adjustment period 2 sessions.
We're back to '68 - '75 ish lengths and outlines.. singles w after-market stick-on sidefins.. flat to V mostly back then. Shorter/wider boards were around but the initial shortboard era was mostly a few inches either side of 7', what we call "mids".
I'm a big fan of wide point forward pulled in round tail mid lengths and have a few similar boards i stay around 6'8 with under 21 in width to keep them nimble; too long and i get intimidated in beachbreaks.
Hey! First of all thanks for your channel. I bought my last couple of boards based on your reviews. I’m looking for a mid and this one is definitely on the top of my list for a while. However, I’m surfing in the upper South West of France and it’s all about beach break. Would you recommend this one ? Have you something more suitable in mind ?
The CI Mid is a great board which is super versatile in a wide range of waves, if you send us an email info@boardshop.co.uk we can chat more about getting you the right board.
Had the Seaside and beyond 7'0, sold it after 8 sessions. It either works or not, for me not. Main issue was rail bite with fat nose. Should have gone for this.
The Mid Twin is best described as an incredibly responsive, spicy mid-length that allows riders to draw smooth - classic lines with effortless trim speeds while still offering the high levels of performance customers expect from Channel Islands. It’s important to note that the Mid Twin isn’t just the standard mid without the center fin box, the twin has been tweaked and developed to create this stunning board. Although it has a slightly shorter rail line, CI wanted to keep the Mid Twin’s stock volume as close to the original as possible for optimal paddling-so a tad bit of width and thickness was added. To help the board perform even better rail to rail and be more sensitive through turns when you need it, we added just a touch more tail rocker.
Hi Boardshop! Has anyone here tried BOTH the CI Mid AND the Album Darkness? Unfortunately I can't buy 'em both! They both look great, just wondering the differences in how they ride... Cheers!
im not much help but i had an exact copy of album darkness in 7"2' and my buddy has a new 7"6' CI mid. CI mid is more performance oriented i would say, not for weak waves under waist high. never surfed it, just taking my friends word, and watching he surf it. Album shape is more beginner friendly, cruisy, and felt more like a minimal. i love it soo much. more fun than CI mid.
I have a 7’4 here in Hawaii, It doesn’t work well as a twin. The side bites are too far forward. CI made a Mid Twin for that purpose with the fins set farther back.
CI Mid vs Lost Smooth Operator vs Seaside and Beyond. Which would be the funniest mid for tiny to medium waves. Beachbreaks. Yet still turnable? Want to replace my Longboard that I rarely ride.
Hm ok tiny to medium I would go mid or seaside and beyond, smooth operator has more of a high performance feel. But they will all do what you are looking for!
Top question. The boards are not too similar. The channels and profile make them different. Drop us an email at info@boardshop.co.uk and we can go through this.

As a local to Encinitas this is so good to hear! Thinking about picking one up for myself for those mushy Swamis days to hopefully some decent waves
Hi if I’m intermediate, height 5’10” and around 82kg would you recommend the 6’8” 40litre or 7’0” 45litre ? Thanks!
@@JoeSmith-qu1dl Hi Joe, not sure if you already got one. I'm 5'9 and around 70kg. I have the 7'0" and I'd personally recommend to go with the 7'0".
Love mine. Got the 7’10”. Extra beefy for extra fun 🤙

What is it made of? is this an EPS/Expoxy board?
Thanks for the review. How does this compare to the Pukkas 69er Evo? Thanks
What do you think about the CI Mid Twin in comparison?

Dimensions? Volume?
What would be a good size for intermediate surfer 70kg? i see the smallest is already 6 6???????
How different is this board to Seaside and Beyond? Apart from contruction. For your average surfer which would be easier to surf?
I just bought the 7.6 Can you surf him as a twin as well? I have big future twins
You can ride it as a twin, just make sure you have a solid set of twinnys in there

funny. Im tossing up between these 3 aswell.
looking towards matt biolos's take on it atm
I’m also about to purchase a mid length and it is between the smooth operator and the ci mid
is there V in the tail?
What resin tint color is this?
Does the board come with those fins?
Beautiful, thanks for the review
Would it work as trhuster?
2+1 - Not really as a Thruster. Devon Howard has a glass on 3 fin option but mainly rips on the 2+1
Does it ride smoothly as a single fin??? Beautiful board.
Hi Chris, we haven't tried it like this to be honest. Designed to be a 2+1 so go for this!
Mine is on the way
Awesomeness yes cool awesomeness yes...
Good review! any differnce to Lost smooth operator? thank you!
Dying to know as well!
Tossing up between CI mid and Lost smooth operator - like other people. Any tips on which one? Thanks
I have the same question
“It’s a cracka”
so nice!!!
Weldone
Yew first!
So what's the difference between a Harley MID 6 and an AL MERRICK
CI MID 7'0 ??
THANKS
