Thank you, why do AGDQ/whatever other conferences always stretch these videos by padding the beginning? No one cares about past donations it's super cringe (I know it's not the runners' fault)
A little late to the party, but thanks for running this game Gyre. This was my very first RPG when I was a kid, and it still remains one of my favorites.
I’m very late but this game is one of the first gameboy games I had and couldn’t get past the final Apollo fight. Just bought the trilogy in the App Store and the game is still great.
I played the fuck out this game as a kid. I recorded every monster family and it's members and even mapped the entire nasty dungeon out on graph paper. 4 Robots was a totally broken party for a casual play through, they repair weapons like monsters when testing.
The robot party members remind me of how they treated robots in Saga Frontier. Their stats are based on what equipment they're equipped with. Which makes sense, since I believe this game is part of the Saga series.
Legend II and later Legend III were two of my favourite GameBoy game when I was younger. This reminds me of car trips and vacations with my grandparents, playing this is the back of the station wagon and saving religiously in case I ate a weird monster meat and fucked up my game! 😳
I never did beat this game. I died. A lot. I got to Mr. Continue but that was it. Bosses were agony because they were immune to basically all elements.
Very cool run. Great commentary and explanations throughout. The dude on the couch was too hyper the first time he commented and was distracting, but this time he was enjoyable and made it funner and asked good questions. Does anyone know if you die at Odin, does he resurrect you still or is it game over?
if you died before and talked to him he will revive you, but after you kill him any other battle deaths is a game over. if your party never died before you met odin, it skips all of the dialogue when you start the fight and its game over if you die
Thanks for replying! So if I read this right: if die during the Odin fight, he will revive you ONLY if he's revived you previously. That's interesting, I never bothered to experiment with that.
correct. there is also extra dialogue at the beginning of the fight if odin had revived you previously. if you notice in the vid since he had not been revived before, when you interact with odin then, it goes straight into battle skipping the dialogue. im assuming thats quicker for a speedrun, but honestly ive longplayed this game so many times i usually make it to odin without having to have had him revive my party
yea, def one of my faves of all time. i never understood the game mechanics as a young kid which made the game extremely difficult. i remember never being able to beat apollo
Colt is not the name of a model, but of a 150 year old or so gun company, and their name is trademarked. Associating it with a gun, any gun, in a video game like this is grounds for lawsuits. Whether or not the lawsuit would be legally viable is another matter.

1:25:11 - "Your dad tragically died to ninjas."
Let's take a moment to appreciate this gem of a sentence.

You defeated 5 cancers in this run. Maybe more, I don't remember. And prosecuted banana dealers.
This game is love.

It is part of the saga they just rode off the name final fantasy

Starts @8:36
it says so in the description
Trying to image a robot made entirely out of bows and a whip.
I always look forward to the awesome Gyre runs.
Just beat this game for the first time a few days ago. What an underrated gem!
I did not realize as a kid that the battle theme is basically "Heat Is On" by Power Supply.
I see Heat is On by Power Station but I can’t hear the similarities, where is it alike?
@@Allstin Glenn Frey. Same song name but this one was used as the Beverly Hills Cop theme song.
Gyre and Carsi are the most fun to watch
Lmao, I'm sitting here like "wtf are those guys doing in the background" @1:20:00
10/10.
I had to call the nintendo help line to get into the giants world! Very cool memory!
Oof. No idea why, but the music was getting off-sync with itself toward the end. (Like... some of the notes were playing at the wrong time.)
I have a question. How can I do this and raise money for a friend who got into a bad car accident?
I like the tree monster sprite near the end, it’s like a Groot
This LP is almost as addictive as sweet, sweet bananas...
If you give a robot 4 laser swords, does he turn into General Grievous?
"he reminds me exactly of Metasigma" ...Oh my god, how did I never make this connection? EvilPine is TOTALLY Meta in monster form. XD
Epic as heck!
I bet the chat was popping of with 4Head
Clutch ending!
Fun Fact: The Super Gameboy 2 doesn't have the clock speed problem. They found and fixed it in that iteration.
I never did beat this game. I died.
A lot. I got to Mr. Continue but that was it. Bosses were agony because they were immune to basically all elements.
Sabin saved the day.
Why is there banner TFS Gaming ?
My favorite part of the run is when Gyre is explaining something/the story, and the morbidly obese man interrupts him to tell an unfunny joke.
Same
What emulator have use used, or was it a modified ROM with added colors?
Александр gameboy player for the snes has the option to switch from a variety of color palettes
This was played on the GameCube game boy player, which has a palette swap option...but it was in fact played on an actual cart of FFL2.
i fucking love this game holy shit i didnt know anyone knew about it lmao
ritoxic i love it too!
I just dropped $20 on steam to get the FFL1/2/3 port. comes with a speed toggle. im just a few hours in and at 35 MAGI. lol
wow what a boss fight

I'll have to break out that game again sometime! Thanks for the info.

i remember never being able to beat apollo
I always do two robots and a mutant...
Baby-d eats wererat (world2) = sylph.
zandiskoul fairy, actually
Holy shit the gun in the game is named Colt.
That's uh... that's ballsy
90's era gaming was pretty ballsy.
Objectorbit I don't get it. Like colt .45?

Objectorbit aha! I just thought of a colt .45, which makes sense, as it's made by Colt.
Amuseum hack is legit
man, if only they knew back then how to literally play this game without any rng.
Saga frontier 2 was the absolute shit. Gustave was the best
This game looks absolutely infuriating (you cannot enter). There's no way in hell I would have finished this at any point in my life.
The dude on the couch is very oddly shaped and it's bothering me LOL
Because you're sensitive
@@lolnahnvm208 butthurt fat body detected
Sounds like a personal problem lol
His not fat face says it’s some type of a health issue but I’m sure his lifestyle isn’t helping it
my favorite Final Fantasy game of all time...but square keeps ruining the remake with cheap 3D...ugh
Sonic boom
