Looking ahead to basketball season, many people think #iubb has the pieces to take a big step forward this year. Todd Leary joins us to share his thoughts.
I love this team all through the roster. No letdown anywhere, Go Hoosiers and kick all the Big 18 butt. Ballo has shot about 65% in college. He gets 10 rebounds more games, Goodie is great and Myles Rice is an NBA starting point guard.
Okay, I look at this Indiana team as one of the most talented on paper, obviously. Now it is going to come down to Coach Mike Woodson and his staff to earn their money and guide them to a B1G championship. In past years there was so much criticism of Coach Woodson about his coaching style, but we all know injuries played a big part in the success of the team. But I don't think you can put all the blame on the coach when they were so shorthanded so much of the time. But hopefully this year will be different and we hope the team will stay healthy. That being said, if this team does not win with the talent they possess, there will be no one else to point a finger at other than Coach Woodson and his coaching style. This should be a very important year all things considered for Mike Woodson.
I really am far more tired of people running with the narrative that our big guys only clog the middle. Neither Ballo or Reneau sit in the lane and wait for perimeter players to pass them the ball. They certainly do it far less than people mention it. Reneau plays all over the floor from corner to above the 3pt line middle of the floor. Ballo constantly goes from screening to trying to seal his man off of that action...often away from the rim until he gets the lob over toward the rim.
Indiana was a stud presence every year since bob knight left . BOB KNIGHT wanted poor academic ron bayless of warren central and not Todd Leary..... Of course Knight wanted Montross but Leary could not deliver him since Dad Scott wanted his son in a friendlier coaching at North Carolina with Dean Smith .. RIP Eric .......
While fans will definitely see Ballo at the 5 with Reneau together at the 4, but I do not expect that to be a huge number of minutes. I think Ballo plays in the mid 20's, and stays fresh. Malik Reneau will probably determine his own minutes by whether or not he can stay out of foul trouble since I expect him to see at least 30 minutes per game. There are a ton of options for Mike Woodson to make Indiana a tough matchup no matter the opponent.

Rice will test higher than anyone on our roster at next year's combine.

They can play any style at a high level. They can win the 3pt differential by defending the 3 at an elite level.

Tucker will play more at the 3 than Ballo and Reneau play together.
