I dont remember how i got here but im sure ive watched this video at leats 20 times this week i love the music and i think these horses and riders aRE SUPER awesome!!
Just finished my own long ride across Ireland on my endurance mare, Lilly! Knocking on total strangers doors for two months asking for a field for my horses and a place to camp was a real adventure but its an experience I think everyone should have with their own horse at least once in their lifetime :) I think long distance rides with you and your horse and the horizon bond you together like nothing else! Lot's of videos about it on my channel.
Groovin to this music and watching some of the most beautiful horses in the WORLD. I have always loved horses, but these are just so....I don’t know how to say how they make me feel ...I wish I could meet one of them. Watching horses like these makes me remember how I felt as a child when I first fell in love with them. Thanks for this this video!
een fantastische video met prachtige beelden van de mooiste dieren die er zijn en die zoveel voor hun ruiters doen!! Ode aan Bas, Sumaya, Valesco en de super Eomer en de ruiters!!
There is a LOT of conditioning that goes into it. I just did my first 25-mile ride last Saturday. But I had done ruffly 2 to 4 5 hour rides about 12 to 16 mile eaches week So both I and my horse were prepared for a longer ride. I will tell ya, the first long rides will always leave you a little sore, no matter how much you prepared beforehand XD When you get done with the ride always check your horse's tendons to make sure they are not hot or swollen, put some cool water on the horse's neck and shoulders the help drop the body temp, do not put it on the back end, it could cause the horse's hind end to lock up or cramp. And if you think your horse does have a cramp, massage it gently with some muscle ease. If your horse is refusing to drink water, try wetting its muzzle, along the nostrils and the mouth. If they smell/feel the water it may trigger them to want to drink. I am nowhere near educated enough on this topic to teach another person. I am simply sharing what I do know. There may be a better way to do it. I am sure with time, I will get better and learn more. The endurance rides in my country (USA) don't start back till like September, once the weather cools. Especially in my region, normal summers are between 95 and 105 degrees. No way I'm riding 25 miles 6 or 7 hours in the weather with a horse that is not ready for that. My horse is an 11YO 14hh Arab QH mare named Smokey. She is a grey flea-bitten (Basically she is white with a crap ton of black freckles) in the summer horse spots along her face and chest turn bright orange (I think cuz of the sun bleaching them). I suggest starting with shorter rides like 12 or 16-mile intros, almost every endurance ride you'll find in the US has an intro, a 25-mile LD, and a 50-mile endurance. And, sometimes they will have 75 or even 100-mile endurance.
Treeless saddles are great for long distance riding, and you can also find specially made endurance saddles! I ride in a treeless, they are so comfortable and light weight.

Hi Laura Brown you are very beautiful nice so awesome where are you from Laura tell me you love horse riding tell me I'm from India my name Zayed I'm not married I'm 27 old ok please rply me Laura
The horses look in amazing shape to be able to move at that pace for so long. The one at the end reminded me of the huskies that run the Iditarod. They look thin, but in comparison to athletes that run the Marathons, horses, dogs and people all look that way.
The Netherlands is cold compared to the middle East for sure. The way these riders deal with the large temperature change is this: They go to their destination well in advance so that both their horses and they can get used to the air, atmosphere, and temperature change :)
Isobel201 Awesome! I want to do western but I also want to do something else besides western because when ever you are competing, it doesn't last very long, so this is something I really want to do.
Oh my word the grey and the rider! So happy. Move as one. The dark bay seems so unhappy. That rider standing up in the saddle. It’s going to hurt after a while.
Those arabians are absolutely beautiful in every way! Just look at they way they walk. It would be a honour for me to ride one of these desert endurance races ^^
How long does a 75 mile race take? And how much do endurance horses of this caliber cost? Im so amazed by the grays gait... gliding effortlessly with so much forward momentum... baffling..
Looks fab :D could i just ask something? is The Netherlands a cold country? How did the horses react to the temperature change? I only ask because I live in a cold country and wish to compete at this level some day in endurance so any tips??
Like you would train for marathons - build up the distance gradually -but with your horse. These horses are TOP athletes. I wouldn't jump on my dressage horse and say "HEY TROT/Canter 40+ miles ...and btw maintain a normal/healthy heart rate (vitals) and don't break down." Not fair .... to him or me....
You can compete at FEI level from aged 14 onwards. At a Natonal level there are competitors aged from 3 to 80. Junior and Young Rider division is 14 to 21 years of age.
Hi, good ride! Which saddle's do you or the other use? Which one got the best comfort? I began now with distance, before i ride 30years jumping and hunting..but i didn't like it anymore..i want something new for my hobby. :-) Thanks
Silly question: do they do the whole race in canter or is it just how it's edited? If so that's quite amazing and must take some amount of training especially in that heat!
Hi, I would like to to work as a professional endurance rider (20 years of horse riding experience). I'm looking for adresses / contacts around the world. Can anyone help me? Thank you!
I'm hoping to one day be apart of races like this one day. I'm currently training myself and my horse and I'm wondering, were you cantering the whole time?
When horses do endurance they are usually in great condition before the ride, but they use stored fat for energy so after a hot race in the desert they lose some weight. I am sure the horse went back to it's normal weight after the race. Kind of like human marathon runners-they eat alot before the race and after to keep their weight where they need it.
Is this what Hidalgo is based off of? The race featured in the movie does not exist, but, is this similar?? I would love to do distance racing but, I"ll stick to the USA...not Abu Dhabi.
I have watched this video many times. The gray and her rider are magnificent. That girl can really ride -- what a seat, so graceful.
I like the grey too. Do you know it’s name?
I dont remember how i got here but im sure ive watched this video at leats 20 times this week i love the music and i think these horses and riders aRE SUPER awesome!!
My favorite horse is the Grey, Eomer. Gorgeous.
yes me too!! I could watch this over and over and over lol!!
They are and they have great respect for the horses. One of the riders Marijke Visser won a silver medal for the Netherlands on the WEG Normandy :D

What a brilliant arrangement, I wish these kind of competitions are held everywhere in the world ............ !

I am entranced by this video with the rhythm of the riders and music together.

This is so awesome!
The poor water "boys" have to do a handoff of handing water to cantering horses!
yeah its cold water, to make the pulse of the horse go down, so they dont die of shock or etc.
i wanna do this race... those are som
e very inspirerinh horses. just amazing!
Music is Magrora [Remix]
So is this pretty much like trying to keep a good pace so your horse doesn't wear out too quickly?
yep, its finishing the race in a good time and the horse has to finish with a good recovery time.

I don't know about age limit but there's a lot of requirements for the horse health wise
I don't know about this specific race, but... endurance is a sport known for having many people compete of all ages, some only 8, others being over 60

Silly question: do they do the whole race in canter or is it just how it's edited? If so that's quite amazing and must take some amount of training especially in that heat!
Yeap, all you do is canter in a straight line! Training and drugs. PATHETIC!
How long was this race? I don't know much about endurance, do they really canter the whole race? Those are some fit horses!

The winning rider is beautiful! also, that bay looked so unhappy the entire time! or maybe he was just concentrating. XD
Sarah Barham I think he and his rider were just pushing to catch up to the grey and his/her rider at that point in the race.
