- In Part 3 we travel from Domaine de la Catiniere to Pegasus Bridge where we visit the museum. We arrive and walk around Camping Sandaya Cote de Nacre campsite and see Omaha Beach before setting off to Arromanches Aire where we walk to Mulberry Port and see the remains of the pontoons in the English Channel. We visit the new Normandy British War Memorial and Cemetary near Bayeux.

As a Royal British Legion chairman I thought you did an excellent job. I thoroughly enjoyed it especially the respect you portrayed. Spectacular!
Well thank you very much. We really appreciate your very kind comments. This is the fist time we have ever been this close to the D-Day landing sites and we all appreciated the scale of the operations and the number of people involved. It’s quite something to experience. Best wishes from us all 😄💙
Love Honfleur first trip was over 35 yes ago, been back a couple of times since,, Honfleur is a lovely place, The museum is great & British cemetery is so so somber you can't believe how many people were killed to give us our freedom
Thanks Andrew, we loved it art Honfleur as we chose a weekend to visit so it was packed 😃 The gardens were nice and quiet though and we enjoyed the stroll down to the beach 😃 Trev
Hi Trev and Sue, this was a very moving video, the museum and the ceremony were great, so many lives lost to give us our freedom. lovely filming and enjoyed the music too. So upsetting seeing the graves so many lives lost x Julie and Tony x
Thank you both, we felt very humbled by the visits to museums and historic sites. It was made so real by just being there. We will never forget them and we will cherish the memories we made on the tour. 💙🙂 Trev n Sue
Such a lovely video Joe made me smile “a war baby “ keep going Joe Enjoying your motorhome
Your such a natural Trevor both in front a behind the camera thank you for your time and effort you put into your videos
Thank you Sheila that’s very kind. We have fun making these films, it’s not intended to be too polished but just a record of our travels and some of the fun we have along the way. This video was a little more difficult for me as there was so much footage I could have used. The subject of war and the stories of bravery and heroism should never be forgotten of course, so I wanted to share the places and the experiences we had during our tour. I am glad you enjoyed it, we all appreciate your lovely comments 😄💙 Trev, Sue, Joe & Sheila
What a lovely moving video. this gave us so many memories of our Motorhome trip to the Normandy beaches a few years ago, so many amazing brave men & women who fought for us all, thank you so much for this. all the best, Perrin & Marilyn.
Thank you both. This part of the tour was very special for us. To actually be at the historic sites and learn so much about the D-Day landings was a real honour. Take care 🙂🚐💙 Trev n Sue
That is one of my all time favourite camp sites. After a few days at Le Mans we would stop here for a few days before heading home. That toilet/shower block is the best thing ever. A great place for exploring the DDay coast.
We agree, a great campsite in a perfect position. It was very busy when we were there but still quiet at night. 😃👍🏻🚐 Trev
“Lest we forget”….💜 A very moving and respectful video, such brave men and women and so many lives lost. Makes it all seem so much more real when you see the beaches with pontoons etc - I still have to stand to attention when Edgar’s Nimrod is played on 11th NOV (ex WRAF), never leaves you 🤭 Thanks very much for showing us round x🚐
Thanks Debs, it was a very moving week. Some of the sites make it seem very real. To see the actual pontoons and vehicles used during the D-Day landings reminds us that we were given our freedom by these brave men and women of that time. We will never forget 🙂💙 Trev n Sue x
a very poinient video trev sue brought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye seeing it very mooving and seeing all those names too donny
Thank you Donny, there is a lot to see. This is just a snapshot of what is going on during the D-Day anniversary week. There are so many heroic stories and exhibits in the museums and visiting the actual landings sites was an amazing experience 😃👍🏻💙 Trev
Great video, Trev. Thanks for showing the museum and all the other historical things. Nice ceremony also. Stay warm and dry, my friends 😊👍💕
Thank you 😊 We loved looking round all the WW2 places. Really appreciate what they did for us and our freedom 😃👍🏻💙 Trev
Thanks, that brought back memories of our visit to Arromanches in 2016. We did manage to take a few pictures in the Tapestry museum. They must have changed that policy.
We didn’t stay long at the Tapestry Museum. It was very busy and we saw what we wanted to see. Beautiful place though. Really enjoyed the area and could easily have spent longer in Normandy 😃🚐👍🏻💙 Trev
Gosh. Quite emotional watching this Trev and Sue.
Remember sitting outside Cafe Gondree when the kids were little - such an evocative place and as Joe said - makes you think.
And Omaha and Arromaches too. Places that will live long in our memories.
It must have been amazing to be there on the anniversary.
And the campsite really did look five star!!
Enjoyed travelling along with you guys.
Thanks so much, we took an awful lot of footage so this was a selection of the clips to give our viewers a taste of the atmosphere and history 😃💙 Trev
@@PoshcatsCamping fascinating to see these places again!! 👍
What an awesome day! So much history. While I'm not a major history buff when it comes to war stuff, Jessie is very interested in it. I'm sure he would be tickled to visit all this stuff. Bummer the other museum wouldn't allow photography. I dislike when places won't let me at least take some pics. Oh my gosh that building is amazing! And the water wheel with the bridge. So cool! You're truly having an amazing trip!
Thank you, this part of the trip was very interesting and there was so much information about WW2. We found it difficult to select the best clips for this video as we took way too much footage. You would love the historical buildings in France, they are absolutely stunning. Many survived the wars and have been preserved in their original state 👍🏻😃 Take care guys 💙 Trev n Sue
Years ago I had the privilege of meeting Wally Parr, who was in the first glider to land at the bridge at midnight , I remember him saying , everyone was scared stiff, and if someone tells you different ,they are liars .He jumped from the glider into water, ,they took the bridge and had to hold until relieved ,the anti tank gun at the bridge was fired by him when 2 German patrol boats came up the canal ,enjoy your trip,so much history
What a great memory, meeting a true veteran hero. The guys and girls from the war were so brave and I don’t think my generation really understand the hardships and the dedication of those in the services during that time. Thank you for your comments and sharing your experience 😃🚐💙 Trev
Hi Trev and Sue a wonderful video and what a time to be on the D Day beaches it must have been a moving yet special atmosphere it is something I would like to see very much and I am contemplating a tour to that area it makes it all the more real seeing the pontoons and military installations and those men were very brave and did so much to keep us free - the new memorial is fabulous I have read about it’s construction great to see it
Hope you are all keeping well and enjoying your tour Daniel
Thank you Daniel. We loved the D-Day section of our tour and if you feel that way we urge you to consider the tour. We will do a video with a summary and our thoughts at the end of the video series. We appreciate your lovely comments 😃👍🏻💙 Trev n Sue
Hi, just watched the video and you were parked just behind us. It's us in the video as you arrive with the silver Land Rover and caravan. Had I realised it was you I would have said hello.
Regards
Peter
Hi Peter, oh that’s great that we caught you on camera and hope you don’t mind. It was a lovely site there and even though we booked it January, I understand it was getting fairly full. We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed the campsite and the surrounding area. There was certainly plenty to do. Hope you enjoyed your holiday as much as us. We are currently in Chalons en Champagne and we have another 10 days before we return to Blighty 😉👍🏻 Safe travels 🚐💙 Trev n Sue
@PoshcatsCamping Hi, we were there for 4 nights and also had a great time. There is so much history to see in the area and wish we had longer to see it all. This was our stop off on our way back from the South of France. Enjoy the rest of your travels and you never know our paths might cross again when we are next in France.
Reallly enjoyed the vlog and hoping to do something very similar next year. Keep up the good work
Next year is a major celebration as it’s the 80th anniversary of D-Day. It’s likely to be very busy. The atmosphere and the environment was very moving at times. Definitely worth a visit 😃👍🏻💙 Trev
We go there next year to celebrate 80th. I think it will be one special mega event.🙏🙏🙏
Yes I think the 80th celebration will be a big event. There’s a wonderful atmosphere during the D-Day anniversary which lasts for several days. Hope you enjoy your trip 😃🚐👍🏻 Trev
