I’m 33 weeks pregnant and my son will be 2 next month, so this was super helpful! Another tip I have heard is to tell the baby they have to wait (even if they’re sleeping or don’t understand) while you do something to help big brother or sister, just so the older sibling hears you saying it!
😭😭 "if your baby is fed, clothed, loved, that is enough." I needed this today. My first earthside child is 7 months old and I always feel like I am just not doing enough for him. Thank you 💖
I found the transition of 1-2 a cakewalk compared to newborn in COVID times I think another great thing is read books to the toddler about mom being pregnant and having a new baby. Our older daughter ran and got a ton of stuffed animals to share with her baby sister about an hour after meeting her because one of the characters in the storybooks did that.
Ahhh great to hear. I had my first exactly a yr ago, april 2023 and the mask mandate in hospitals was literally lifted the week I gave birth! And even in birthing this year as well, barely within this past month at the hospital I wish to deliver at, the age limit and restrictions on visitor hours has changed "out" of the covid parameters. It's been such a slow churn, I feel for my sis and everyone who delivered in the thick of the first stage of the pandemic. My son will only be 14 m older than our first but I have already begun reading him books about being a big brother, pointing to my belly and saying "baby" and I just got a baby doll to begin introducing the concept of mom holding a baby (he's had an interesting/intrigued/neutral reaction so far!). I don't think these tricks are reserved for actual toddlers, my son definitely already *gets it* to some capacity at 1 year. In fact, I'm anticipating a more neutral reaction when the time comes since he's not in the possessive toddler development state yet.
I also have a 2.5 year old and 7 month old, my first born in July 2020… so middle of COVID. I agree with every. single. one. of your suggestions. Especially with the fact that you toddler may not care at all about the new baby! For 6 weeks he basically ignored her existence… I didn’t push it and over time he started interacting with her. Now at 7 months he loves to talk & play with her ☺️
Thank you for making this video and acknowledging the stark difference between giving birth during intense COVID times vs. now. I had my first baby in August of 2020 and it made me really depressed to not get any help, go out or see anyone. I was afraid of having another baby for a long time, but now I'm pregnant with baby number 2 and my goal is to try and enjoy the postpartum/newborn phase much more this time around!
My son is 7 months old. I love having an internet gal pal that has sooo much advice for the season I’m in and will be in when we eventually have 2 kids!
I’m so happy your PPA was way better this time. You have spoken openly about the amount of work you have been doing with a therapist. I have struggled with PPA/PPD with my first postpartum experience but never got help I needed. It definitely was harder the second time but this time I got help. Thanks for sharing your experience mental health is a journey.
These are SO true! My daughter is still so neutral toward my son (she was almost 2 when he was born). Yes, it is so nice not being in quarantine raising a baby this time.
For me the flexible but consistent routine was a must for me. Helps the kids know what's coming up but also that it doesn't have to be super strict. I like the don't blame the baby idea! It feels alot different having your second, u know what u do and don't want to do again.
My oldest son was totally neutral with my younger son for the first year. Now that they are 2 & 3.5 years old they finally play together more often and it’s awesome! Your kids will be besties before you know it!
We are going from 4 to 5, but my big kids are much older and the two littles will be two years apart. It's been awhile and this was a great refresher! Great tips. ❤
I had every intention of doing the sibling gift exchange but in my final weeks of pregnancy I did not have the energy. My work ended up giving us an edible arrangement that came with a teddy bear that my toddler quickly grabbed as hers. I told her "wow wasn't it so nice of your brother to give you teddy?" and it worked. Lol.
We’re considering second kid and hope it will be easier now we’re not under lock down. My first pregnancy my husband was never able to go into any of the visits and nobody could have visited us in hospital because they didn’t allow visitors.
Thank you! My daughter is junipers age(almost exactly) and we are starting the conversation of if we even want another baby and when. I truly feel like for us the transition of 1-2 would be way harder than 0-1 was.
Lovely tips! I'm due in 3 months with baby number two and started getting a little nervous about all the logistics, haha! And I hadn't even thought about letting my son pick out a gift for baby! Such a cute idea!! I was already planning a gift from baby to him, but can't wait to take him to a shop and let him pick something out! ❤
I love youtuber shoutouts! Embers & Ash did a shoutout for your page in one of her videos a whileee back, and I've been here ever sense❤️❤️❤️❤ love you mama!😊❤️
Megan!! This made me cry haha. We’re about to start trying for baby #2 in June (our son is currently 13 months) and I’ve been so excited but also terrified😂 this made me more just excited!❤️ thank you!
I really want to have my second baby close to my first, but oh my goodness, it just seems like so much. Thank you for the video to help me feel a little more at ease ❤
Currently in the stage of deciding we want a second kid. We have a 2.5 year old and taking out my birth control implant next year or sooner... She’ll be 3 or 4 before another baby could be born. No where near pregnant but looking at a lot of videos on what it’s like and tips.
Same here. 1.5 year old and stopped birth control and let nature play it's course. When it happens we'll be prepared but so much more relaxed in TTC this time around
In the same boat except daughter is turning 6 soon 😅 so it would be a bigger age gap but do want my daughter to grow up with a sibling. Just nervous of how much harder the day to day logistics would look like (childcare when going back to work, evening routines on school nights, etc), so still on BC until we make a final decision on TTC
My younger sister was 2 when my Brother was born and she was depressed 😅 she knew how to work Minecraft and was really tech savvy, so when we’d ask where she was, she’d be laying in her bed with the iPad watching UA-cam or playing Minecraft. Aw it broke our hearts 😅 she was so cute but it was tough for her to watch her daddy love on another baby. She’s a big daddy’s girl so he ended up alway being there for her while my mom solo parented my brother. They’re both in school now and are the closest siblings. But that first few months and year was hard for her.
I wasn’t aloud a baby shower, or anyone at appointments or ultrasounds or in hospital for 2021. I had a c section. My Bub is 18 months old now, and I’m just adjusting to being a bit more social now. Thanks for this video. Not sure when we will plan for a little sibling for him, hopefully we feel better, Not sure what a c section and baby wearing would be like, especially with a toddler.
Thank you for talking about PPA! I feel like it's never ever talked about so I was shocked when I went through it and it was so bad! Do you have any idea why you had PPA the first time and not the second time? I'm so glad to hear that it's possible to not be every single time!! 🥳
Hi 👋🏼 I love your videos ❤ I have a 8 month old baby boy and I am expecting baby girl she is due this July, I’m struggling finding a stroller for 2 also see you have 2 car seats for babies how do you like them? Is it good for a new born too? Thanks 😊
He is not there yet because before 3 yo, developmentally, they are not interested in what’s outside of them. Wait till 3+, they will develop more of a relationship
thanks for the tips...i have a son 2 years and 3 months old and the second baby is on the way in october sooo...i hope it will be all good and at least mentaly esier for me,becouse i know what to expect this time...sorry for my english I am from Europe:)

I have a 15 month old and 2 month old and agree with a lot of your points, especially baby wearing!
We’re considering second kid and hope it will be easier now we’re not under lock down. My first pregnancy my husband was never able to go into any of the visits and nobody could have visited us in hospital because they didn’t allow visitors.
I feel for you I was the same.

2020 Mama here expecting her second baby, thank you soooo much for this video!!! 🎉
I´m not plannig on having another baby, like ever again...for us one child is enough, but I love your content, thanks for sharing!
This was an amazingly positive and helpful video thank you 😊💓

Have you decided? We have a 2.5 year old and are also in the same boat. They'd be almost 4 years apart. We are so torn.
Im almost 20 weeks and I'm so scared how my toddlers going to react. Im terrified of messing this up
