In this video, I keep you in the look and hook you up with the best phone mounts. I know my channel is mostly focused on the DIY’s but its nice every once in awhile to go over the smaller things that aren’t really covered. I haven’t talked about phone mounts or anything like that for cars, even though I use mine every day in my car. So I decided to throw up a video regarding how I mount my phone in my car.

I have had this mount for about a month, and it is great. I drive for Lyft, so I am always using my phone. Just don't ever get trash or fuzz or whatever on the suction cup part, as it will never come off...lol holds just fine or track days, too.
This is a great car mount! I have the one with the sticky mount and put it on my dash in my truck. I have gone off-roading with my phone on the mount and it held up really well! My phone doesn't shake when idling.

I have this and I use it a lot and it holds numerous things, I tried my Samsung S5, my little sister's Acer tablet, GPS and it is great. I also went off roading with it and it stuck on fine with no issues.
I want to use my tablet you said it holds the tablet
Does the magnet cause any call problems or damage to the device because a magnet can damage the internals of a cellphone
IAm Exqluhsive I have this one for my iPhone 6s. I have the large adhesive plate stuck on my phone case and the phone inside of case. No issues with magnetism distortion with my phone with hardware or software. That was my #1 concern. Holds strong through bumps etc. You just have to decide on where you want to mount magnetic plate whether directly on phone or case. It feels like it locks onto the mount. I would have gotten the mount that goes into CD player but was impatient. In the end no issues. The one that mounts to glass/any surface is part suction cup and removable adhesive. That mofo can be tough to dismount but it's a testament on how secure it is to any clean flat surface. Best of luck.
Not a problem what so ever :) I was skeptical about running a magnet by my phone, but months later, no problems!!
Actually, the magnets only bother certain types of electronics. Most of which phones don't contain. However it might screw up NFC
Can either of the metal pieces be applied to the back of your case? I see you attached one to the inside of your case, but not the exterior of the case.
Funny enough I just bought the 3M Dash Mount through Amazon now for 16 Accord. I did find out that it wouldn't really work on the top of the dash because of the material on the Accord. But I found a perfect space on the radio dash right next to the air vent and just above the AUX line. So far so good.
thanks for the recommendation. I bought the dash mount that u use in your toolbox straight after watching the video. I have a Motorola Nexus 6 with a case and no mount is big enough to hold it unless I get a tablet mount, and they are a pain in the ass cuz the clamps always interfere with the power and volume buttons. thanks for the advice.

Great job on the review, and I agree with you, I've been using the 3M mounted ones in our cars for years and they are definitely the best mounts out there. But speaking of the 3M mounts... how do you REMOVE them without hurting the the mounting surface?

Only downside to this is Qi wireless charging on my Samsung S7 edge does not work with the metal plate stuck to the back of my phone. This is how I charge my phone at night and at my desk.

They have magnet holders like this that go on the vents for like $4-$7 on Amazon
Yes, you can indeed find cheaper mounts on Amazon. Although with cheaper price, you're getting a cheaper mount. Many of the knock-off mounts on the market contain much weaker magnets in the mount, giving a high risk of your phone falling off the mount and providing no customer support or solution should anything happen to your device.
Okay. And with a vent mount, if you use heat in your car, it will shut the phone off due to over heating. Not to mention that eventually your vent will only be pointing down from the weight.
Russell Loyd Vents in a car can be opened and closed. You leave the drivers vents open and close the one that's in the center, but towards the passenger side. It's takes a ton of heat to make your phone overheat, ~86 degree air from the vents won't do anything. Also vents won't wear out because of the weight, the only way they'll "get stuck" is if the plastic pieces inside of it break, but at that point someone must've been kicking the vent. But each to his own, everyone has different preferences.

do you need to paste the metal piece on your phone or can you just put it between the case and your phone?
Depends on how think the case is.. you could always double up.
I've got a fairly thin case, and it works. If the one metal piece doesn't seem to strong with the magnet, you might have to mount the metal part on the outside of your case

Not a problem at all :) I've taken it down straight as an arrow highways, to bumpy windy backroads, and the phone has yet to fallen or even moved on me :)
Have had mine for about 5 months and has definitely been a great investment

My concern is putting the plate inside the phone case and it leaving a little bump
It is barely noticeable as the little plate is so thin. I have it in my case and you can barely tell its there

I actually had this for my car. to tell you the truth it wasn't the best mount I've ever had. the magnetic function was awesome, but it didn't stick well to my dash. maybe that's just my car. I don't like anything on my windshield, but that's just me.
It's possible you got a hold of our mount that was a very first production run. We did have an issue with the 3M which was resolved right away. With our current mounts, as long as the surface is cleaned it will get a good contact and stick. We always have suction cup versions that contain our StickGrip on the suction cup, allowing it to suction to a textured dash and will not leave any residue if removed.

Scosche I stuck one on my dash and initially loved it. But for the last few weeks, the joint that allows the swiveling, does not hold any angles whatsoever after being stuck to my dash for a few months in the California sun. Kinda disappointed.
Scosche my case has a kickstand in the back middle how would that work if at all 🤔
until you hit a bump and it falls near you pedal. very annoying
I still prefer clip mounts, magnet is not strong enough when you hit a big bump.

Will it work with a Mophie Case? They are a little thicker than regular cases
For thicker cases, we'd recommend adhering the plate to the outside of the case
I just got the XL one which is capable of holding an iPad, just because the roads in my area are quiet bumpy, the mount is awesome but somehow the one I got was a pain in the ass to attach to the windshield, the auction cup is stick but everytine I pull the lock lever it falls off, but eventually I got it on, just by pushing it against the windshield for a minute and it stays there, holds the phone strongly and doesn't even really shake on bumpy roads
I got a pair of the magic mounts (the suction cup ones). Barely had them for a day but I'm liking them. The one on my windscreen is solid, I had a vent mount from another brand and it would shake a lot (thought not drop my phone), this one barely moves even on the bumpy roads in my city. I'm keeping the other one on my desk at home and it just looks great.
I have a clutch it. It works the same way but it has double ball joints and both ends are magnetic. And I love it

Yeah. Magnet+phone(electronic)=not a good idea
Magnets damaging phones is unfortunately a huge misconception. You want to keep magnets away from devices that have hard-drives such as computers, or iPod classics. All the phones on the market these days use flash memory which is not damaged by magnets. Our Magnetic Mount system is 100% for most devices!(as mentioned you want to keep it away from devices such as iPod Classic).
