  • Did you know that Lynda Carter posed nude for a scene in Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now, and that she had to quit the movie’s filming after receiving the role of Wonder Woman? Based loosely upon the classic novel of Heart of Darkness by author Joseph Conrad, Apocalypse Now is considered by many to be one of the greatest war films of all time! Despite this status, the movie generally plays second fiddle to The Godfather when the overall filmography of director Francis Ford Coppola is ranked.

Apocalypse Now came after the success of The Godfather, and this success allowed Francis Ford Coppola to finagle a great deal of creative freedom for himself when making the memorable war epic. The production of Apocalypse Now was notoriously long and turbulent, and many hurdles arose over the course of it that Francis had to work around. One of those hurdles involved Lynda Carter, who would go on to rise to immense fame portraying the character of Wonder Woman on television. Many people don’t realize that Lynda was involved in the production of Apocalypse Now… and that she can be seen completely nude in it!
Lynda Carter ended up having to quit Apocalypse Now after being offered the role of Wonder Woman. Lynda was cast in the role of Miss May, and she did some preliminary work on the film before quitting. Some of this work involved Lynda posing for a mock Playboy centerfold. This Playboy centerfold featured Lynda topless. Despite the fact that actress Colleen Camp replaced Lynda in the role, the original Lynda Carter centerfold can still be seen briefly in both cuts of Apocalypse Now. Join Facts Verse as we explore how Lynda Carter bared it all in Apocalypse Now.

Lynda Carter did a topples scene in a movie called "Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw" with Marjoe Gortner.. The scene only lasted for about 10 seconds, but as a 13 year old boy in 1976, it was the best 10 seconds of my life!!!

she didnt have to stop filming Apocalypse Now because of Wonder Woman. WW (not counting the pilot) ran from 1976 to 1979, starting a full year prior to principal filming began for Apocalypse.

Warren & Goudrop are mentioned in My People My Island P.E.I. by John Chalbrick, one of the quest was " June Whitney Taylor" , she was in Winder Woman, Ironside, Perry Mason etc, from Vancouver. They hired him as a costume consultant ( I don't know the technical term.) Cople noticed he looked a lot like Brando ( when he was young and fit) in build and some what in looks... so as I was told , My Buddy was used as a stand in for Brando in long shots showing him as leading his men in action . The shots were cut out and never used in the original. .I don't know about the redux. . He told me all this when he came back to school. Since the movie showed up many months later I never doubted my buddy was telling the truth.

I saw Apocalypse Now on opening night. And then several dozen times since then. I hate the Redux version (pronounced re-doo). It was a commercial trick to help sell the dvd. One of the main points of the film is the isolation of the crew, mainly Capt. Willard. In the redux they have interaction with the playmates. Then Willard is with some woman on the French plantation. Those were too 'typical movie scenes'. Keeping them apart from everyone and civilization as they drift downstream keeps in with the theme. The only downside of Apocalypse Now is Marlon Brando. He was such a knucklehead and after so many viewings he comes across as way too depressed and out of it to do what his character was supposed to have done. Otherwise it's one great movie. Martin Sheen is totally great in it, even after having a heart attack during shooting! The six track sound in the theaters at it's release was absolutely great. I've never heard it so good since then. I was sitting in the middle of the theatre and when the rocket shot out from the jungle right at the camera, the SOUND was perfect. Myself and several people in that area all ducked! It got a laugh out of everyone not near us. That's how perfect the sound was. People on the left of the theatre heard things that people on the right didn't because they had other sounds coming at them. And the Tiger made EVERYONE jump!!

I became aware of the centerfold pic a year or so ago, and my first impression was that it was photoshopped. I spent some time studying the image closely, and comparing it to the few movie scenes where Lynda was topless, and I concluded that the size and shape of the attributes appeared to match. Hard to know for sure, the centerfold image has kind of an ethereal quality to it. Real of fake, it is enjoyable to look at.

I was in the Navy, stationed at Subic Bay, Philippines, when they were filming Apocalypse Now. I remember the handouts and signs that were posted around the base asking for extras for the movie.
The Admiral and Base Commander put out a message instructing any military member found participating in the movie would be prosecuted under the UCMJ for being there. Seems the movie, by military standards, did not reflect our military values and image. Hence, quite a lot of the base decided not to go to the filming opportunity and those that did, did so very covertly.

4:49 While Lynda Carter and Colleen Camp weren't actually Playboy Playmates, the other two were. So, those two weren't really actresses playing Playmates but rather Playmates playing actresses playing Playmates. (Yup, try to wrap your head around that one.)
Linda Carpenter was Playboy's actual Playmate of the Month for August 1976.
Cynthia Wood was Playboy's actual Playmate of the Month in February 1973. Playboy then select her to be their Playmate of the Year in 1974. So, it's fitting that she also played the Playmate of the Year role in "Apocalypse Now" as well ... that's the one in the blue bikini cowgirl outfit who's front-and-center shooting her two six-shooters. Like Collean Camp, she had no lines in the theatrical release but she did have line in the "Redux" version. I thought she did a really good job with her lines ... probably because as an actual Playmate of the Year, she was already exposed to a lot of public exposure.
... anyway, just some another extra tidbits since Lynda Carter and Colleen Camp were mentioned quite a bit at the start of this video.

If you compare (trust me i have 😁) the poster of Lynda (easily found with a Google search) with that of the film poster you realize that the models are different. Just study their faces.
