Smash online matches run mostly okay but sometimes lag a lot

Well, Its really the opposite for most console corporations. The "Pay for online" concept has only came to effect in the last 4 years.
The base nso is worth it, for 20$ you get a huge library of nes and snes games and you can play online the expansion pass is only worth it if u split a family planwith 7 other people
And for $20 dollars? What’s not to like! PS4 players punchin the air with their $60 a year for ps plus
@@faquiqui I mean we just got Yakuza and little nightmares and Tony hawk 1+2. Persona 5 strikers God of War, Slay the Spire, crash 4, and some indie games all for free with PSN. I'd say it's been worth it since I get online (which is far better) and discounts. There's flash sales and summer sales going on right now etc. I have switch online and all I got are same games I can emulate to be way better than the NSO versions and online that I don't use for anything.
The expansion pass is not even worth the 50 to 80 bucks it goes for

You need it if your into mario maker or splatoon, which are quite literally the only 2 games i play on the switch
expansion pack doesn't just give you dlcs it gives you n64,sega genesis and now gameboy advance games,i'd reccomend the expansion pack there is a lot of good games
for that price and no set schedule for new games to drop, I disagree. Xbox and playstation you get promised free titles each month. NSO is "new titles when we feel like it"

I highly doubt that the membership will help them a lot because people are paying $300 bucks for their console and like $70 bucks for games and for more accessories and stuff like that so I don’t think $20 is that much of a benefit for them

I remember trying to get into online gaming in Minecraft for my switch but after finding out the real problem I was furious why don’t Nintendo just let us play the games instead of forcing to grab out our money.
i honestly really love the online expansion pack, it’s reasonably priced for having all online access, all the old console games, the acnh dlc, and all the new mariokart tracks.

you can also play a lot of old nintendo games (for the free)…. so i say it’s worth it mainly for that
I sure do love buying Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, and Gameboy Advance games at a one time cost on Nintendo Switch!
I feel like it all comes down to preference as to some people there *is* value in getting the Online Service even if others don’t think so. Besides this Service is at the very least more tolerable then an online streaming service because my god the prices just to keep Netflix is almost unfair at times.
Definitely the expansion pack because it's literally cheaper than buying one game per year on the switch being able to play all those games is amazing

i have online and i would say it’s 100 percent worth it. comes with a lot of cool games and some game passes.
I just buy the 12 month individual membership. £17.99 a year and I get to play online, pretty much the only reason I have it is for Splatoon anyway.
I just out mastered the world by the family expansion pack on February 29th good luck paying every 4 years
Yes! unless you play games that are all one player. Personally i play lots of multiplayer games that i want to play with friends or would be better online, and it’s only 20 bucks so yes

Honestly if you want to just play online games and that’s it but a LAN Cable and if you don’t have a LAN port then you can buy a USB adapter for it

You dont get it? Its called marketing. They will go up in price for the family deal. Also, it's like the movie theater popcorn. Small $2.25 Medium $3.75 Large $4.00 . They are directing you to the option they want you to choose
If your into the nes/snes stuff, just use emulation. Nothing piracy cant solve!
Because I care more about the actual physical aesthetic for n64, I rather pay 150 for an actual console WITH jumper pak, and atomic purple controller and having an already bought ocarina of time cartridge in the past amd had friends give me majoras mask, smash 64 and the expansion pak already since they dont want them anymore. Have done it and can say paid once and done and play any time.
If you bought the 50$ one a year is enough to play all the games you want from the legacy collection and still after I played what I wanted I still have 9 months + left

Was going to get the expansion pack to play some N64 games. Saw you can only pay yearly and was like “that’s a big fat NOPE”.
I say worth it. Online play is necessary for lots of things. Also, I usually get the $20 thing because I don’t know enough people who play the switch so that I could do the more expensive one for multiple people. I would do it though if I knew people.
I got a 3 year subscription when I got the expansion pack
$20 a year isn’t THAT bad considering that you get other stuff with it
Considering the fact that you also get the nes, snes, and gb with the base nso and n64, genesis and gba with expansion pass, that’s a pretty good deal
It’s absolutely worth it for me as I use it every day. A small price to pay for something that I use that frequently

In my experience, Nintendo doesn’t actually allow you to play on more than one console at a time using the same account. Probably as an anti-piracy measure so it won’t be like sharing a streaming service.
Back on the wii u each virtual console game cost around £10. Which means that if you have 7 friends to split the cost of the expansion pass you already on part with buying it individually
I'm a splatooner so I think online + nes and snes are good but 30 extra for dlc and the n64 is pushing it
It was worth it while I was able to play the MK8DX Booster Pass until I just bought the DLC as a whole after it expired. I only ever buy the $20 for that and some Smash Bros. matches.
Even for the nso expansion pass it’s $50 a year for gba and n64 games on top of free dlc for Mario kart, splatoon, and animal crossing. For people who prefer to play retro games on official hardware or for people who only can, even the expansion pass is 100% worth it
On ebay it's about 10$ for like the whole year! So yes, for me it is worth it!
Doesn’t seem like the expansion pack rotates content to claim like Stadia, no motivation to get it since some of the content on it won’t even be worth it anyway
Well Its Kinda Worth It Becuse I Got The Pack And Got To Play Majora's Mask And Mario 64, And Also Sonic Pinball, Kinda Worth Buying It But Got Almost Broke. At Least I Got The Booster Course Pass For Free. (With The N.S.O Pack Ofc.)
Well it got a lot better with the new game boy and game boy advanced things and they will probably add more this like DLC for games now since more people are buying it now
I had completely forgot that the switch had paid online and I had to deal with Splatoon 3 without any online so it's definitely necessary
I had Xbox, PlayStation for the longest and ever since I gotten a Switch, it’s so much better, I was tired of spending hella money on the online for those consoles but Switch is so cheap when it comes to online service. Literally worth it. Idc if Nintendo online was free before, it’s still mad cheap
I have a family plan and it’s highly worth it considering how most games now a days are online and everyone in my house has a Switch except my grandmother.

One time I tried buying a game on my Switch, and after starting it, it didn't let me play because I had to get Nintendo Online (the game was Among Us, btw)
I wish they warned you what games require Nintendo Online for certain features..... also, one thing is playing a game that has an online function, and another thing is playing a game that is based specifically on playing online
I kinda wish that some of the games didn’t need this kind of thing (I play this game called Enlisted and it is too big for Nintendo consoles but on all other platforms no subscription is needed.)
Other services have advantages like the switch has no analogue for Xbox/playstation parties

They may do the same thing on the newest console because millions of people are buying it so it was make since for Nintendo to do it again which hopefully they wouldn’t do it but the chances are the online service will be on the new console
Base online is worth it since it's a good deal for a year but expansion pack is a hell no. Sure I'll get N64, GBA, Genesis, etc but they're pretty pointless if you have other means to play them such as having a Wii U, Wii, or emulation. In my case, I got the Steam Deck to play retro stuff and it plays really great, no problems for me. Plus, it feels like you're renting NSO just to play retro games because you'd have to constantly pay if you want to play them while in other means, you can keep it forever.
I bought the expansion pack once and I'm not turning back on it again. The only time I'll go for it is for the "exclusive" icons that piques my interest but it sucks since you'd have to pay a lot just to obtain them.

Honestly I thought about getting it but decided not to. I don’t need MARIO and Mario maker to play online and I use it portably mostly anyway so I don’t have any connection. In my personal opinion it’s not worth the money

Nintendo really shouldn’t charge to pay lay online as there aren’t a ton of Nintendo games that have online modes so having to pay $20 a year is annoying for just a handful of games. I like that we officially have a way to play old classics but they shouldn’t be behind a subscription wall

Me personally I only buy the 1 year membership for 1 person since I’m the only that uses my switch around my house and I don’t bother with the expansion pack since it’s just a few extra games and I only want to spend 20 bucks a year
I had many purchase the yearly membership for me since switch online was a pay wall. After four years, the answer is always no, the whole "it just only $20" does not justify terrible online, especially when Microsoft and Sony has better paid online. The service is even useless for individuals who grew up with Nintendo and has a vass library of games / collectables with retro Nintendo games etc. All the download perks are purchase day one for titles of those who are interested in said titles.
I'd personally say that the $19.99 option is better cuz I'm only getting it for myself and no one else. Also the expansion pack really doesn't mean anything to me cuz I bought the MK8DLC and that's all I care about. Animal Crossing and whatever else is offered doesn't interest me.

Yes $20 is worth the base plan, you get the snes and nes libraries and you can play first party Nintendo games online especially splatoon 2 and soon 3.
My family has the online family pack and my brother is the “parent” on the account and I'm the “child” so I'm not able to access any games like Omori and Little Nightmare on the Nintendo shop but it's still worth it as an avid splatoon and ACNH player
It's less like switch online and more like Nintendo + since the online service sucks so badly, only benefits if you don't live in silicone Valley is just emulation (poor ones for n64 games) and having those odd exclusive deals that never seem to be in stock

Nintendo was the MVP until the switch. I sold all my consoles (kept the switch for the exclusives) and got a gaming pc. Best decision ever tbh and never looked back.

I dont know man. I honestly think the expansion pack is worth it. My main reason is the n64 virtual console, and it's necessary for Mario Maker 2. 50 bucks a year isn't terrible.
I remember buying it for a month to try out Splatoon and I loved the game, I just have no friends to play with so I didn't bother continuing to play for online 🤣

I’m a year late but I’ll explain it. The Booster Pass is a little weird when it comes to getting it. If you have the online expansion pack, the Booster Pass is only available until the online subscription expires. If you want to own it offline, you gotta buy it individually whilst you’re not on the expansion pack.

You could also buy a slot in someone else's family plan on ebay which is what I usually do as it is alot cheaper
As the only one in my family that plays the Switch, I buy the year long individual thing.

To be honest 🤔 I don't know why Nintendo made to play online member ship I don't know why Nintendo. In my opinion Nintendo switch online doesn't worse it .
I think it would have been better if the you could get the retro games for like the snes 6,99 and that's it

You can just by the family membership for the expansion pack on eBay for like $14
I’d say the expansion pack isn’t worth it yet. I think they will keep adding things and hopefully the price doesn’t change.

The thing that annoys me about Nintendo Online is that you're left to pay for services which were far more advanced in the past, and they show little regard to improving.
They know they're now separate from the game (being competition) so they know that they only have to offer the bare minimum despite having the means of reviving dead ideas or bringing to life entirely new ones.
Sony and Microsoft are constantly improving their services even when they don't necessarily have to so why can't Nintendo?
If it weren't so cheap I feel like most people would be throwing money into the void.
