    Last year I was looking for a pattern for a scarf for my dad. I found this and I was happy I could do it so quick and easy. Than my brother liked it and asked for same pattern. I just finished his scarf and thinking of using the pattern for matching ear warmer.
    Thank you for this video. It is so well explained and everyone who knows crochet hook and double crochet can make it.
    I will definitely use the same pattern for other things, like pillow case maybe.😊

I look forward to creating several items with this stitch in various colors to see how many ways it can ‘express’ itself! Thank you for sharing! ❤️

    Hi, I love this pattern, it's so beautiful. I want a thinner scraf so can I use yarn weight 2mm and 4mm hook for this pattern?

    • @createandcrochetwithpatricia
      @createandcrochetwithpatricia  Рік тому

      You can definitely use a lighter-weight yarn, but you will want to increase the multiples. The choice of hook will depend on the yarn, you can try a little sample with different size hooks. I think a 4mm might be a bit big, but just experiment a bit first.

      It could have something to do with tension, and likely that it is too tight. You can try using a larger crochet hook or check out my tutorial on proper crochet tension: ua-cam.com/video/PxAVTN_T3mk/v-deo.html

    • @createandcrochetwithpatricia
      @createandcrochetwithpatricia  2 роки тому

      Oh, I am so glad! I can't say how long this would take because everyone crochets at a different pace. I have seen people who can crochet very fast and could probably make this in a few hours. You can sort of figure it out yourself and see how many rows you can crochet in 30 minutes. Then do the math to get a rough idea. Enjoy!

      Without seeing it, I can't really say what the problem may be. But crochet tension is often an issue...I have a tutorial on how to hold proper tension here: ua-cam.com/video/PxAVTN_T3mk/v-deo.html
      It could also be in the way you count the stitches and are somehow making an error there.

      The wonderful thing about UA-cam is that you only have to type that question into the search box and you will get all sorts of videos that show how to do this. Here is one, but there are a lot more: ua-cam.com/video/v0Hfu0byjxs/v-deo.html

    Do you know how many rows you did

    • @createandcrochetwithpatricia
      @createandcrochetwithpatricia  3 роки тому

      I am so sorry, but I didn't actually count the rows of this pattern, I was working more with the gradation of colors. I was quite sick when I made the video and just offered the basics, and I've given the scarf away, so I can't check! You can do a small sample of 4" by 4", count how many rows that takes and then multiply that into your desired length. Your choice of yarn and own crochet tension will give you a true calculation. Again, I apologize for not providing all the information. :(

    What's the name of the stitch?

  • @sarahbennett9653
    @sarahbennett9653 2 роки тому

    I am NOT a beginner but I started with a chain of 30 and now on my second row of FPDC my first double crochet after the chain 3 is a FPDC, so I can’t out my first DC there…. Because it’s the vase of the chain 3… and I end up with 31 stitches every time…. I have undone and redone it, and I can’t go fire out why….. is there something I am
    Missing?!

    • @sarahbennett9653
      @sarahbennett9653 2 роки тому

      I’m counting the chain 3 as a stitch…. Like I’m supposed to, but end up with 31, and if I only crochet 30 stitches I have an extra space at the end….. I’m not sure where this extra stitch came from but my edges are straight, and I didn’t have 31 single crochets in the row before

    • @createandcrochetwithpatricia
      @createandcrochetwithpatricia  2 роки тому

      Hi there! So, I am assuming you are finishing row three (sc's) with a count of 30 sts. Starting row four (first row of fpdc), your beg ch 3 will be directly above the sc of row 3 and the dc of row 2. The first fpdc is done into the 2nd dc of row 2. Row 4 finishes with 1 dc in each of the last 2 sts of the row. At this point do you still have 30 sts? If not, then this is the row where the extra stitch is being made. Then row 5 is a row of sc's and this should equal 30 sts as well. Watch the beginning of row 6 at 14:00 to make sure you are not doing the 1st dc after the ch3 in the base of the ch3. It looks like that would be the stitch to start in, but it is not. This first stitch might be where the problem is. It's a bit tricky to get this row going, but watch this part of the video closely and you should see where the first dc starts. You'll get it! 👍🙌👌

    • @sarahbennett9653
      @sarahbennett9653 2 роки тому

      I’m having the issue at row 6. Row 4 and 5 count out perfectly but once I finish row 6, I have one too
      Many stitches with the chain 3 at the beginning of the row. Also at the beginning of the row, I have the chain 3 and then a FPDC below, and where I’m supposed to DC at the top of the FPDC would lead me to DC in the base of that chain 3.

    • @createandcrochetwithpatricia
      @createandcrochetwithpatricia  2 роки тому

      It would seem you are picking up one too many stitches in row six. The end of row 4 should end with 2 dc, row 5 will have 30 sc's, the beg of row 6 should start with a ch 3 then 1 dc in the next st (the sc above the fpdc from row 4), then 1 fpdc in the next dc from row 4. Row 6 ends with 1 fpdc in the 2nd to last dc of row 4, then there is one more dc in the last stitch of row 5. If you watch the video closely, you will see. It is also easy to do an extra stitch in this row.

    Can one use bulky yarn-- not worsted-- with this pattern and crochet 16, not 18 chains at the beginning? Also, why are all scarves around 6 feet long? (What about short people?) Thx! Beautiful pattern, though!

    • @createandcrochetwithpatricia
      @createandcrochetwithpatricia  3 роки тому

      Yes, the multiple for this stitch is 2 stitches, so you can increase or decrease the number of foundation chains by 2 chains to create your desired width (see 3:50 in the tutorial...I refer to making it wider, but the same principle applies to reducing the number of chains). You can make the scarf any length you like, and while I stop at 70" (for a man scarf) you can certainly make it shorter. I refer to that starting at 21:34 and which row to finish with at 22:34. Hope that helps!

    • @createandcrochetwithpatricia
      @createandcrochetwithpatricia  2 роки тому +1

      While this pattern is simple in that it uses a double crochet stitch only, it can be confusing at the beginning of each row. If you slow down the video tutorial, you might be able to see the stitch pattern more easily. Once you get how the rows start then it is much easier. Go to settings and choose playback speed, choose 0.75. That might help!
