For the past two days, Rockland District High School has been receiving threats, and police have been on the scene. Early this morning, the Ontario Provincial Police had to go to the school to investigate. The OPP confirms that all students and staff are safe, but have been evacuated as a precaution. At around 10:30 a.m, the OPP updated its announcement on its Facebook page and announced that classes were resuming. At the moment, no threat has been identified, although the police are still conducting information to find out more about what happened.
Early yesterday morning, the school received a similar threat. The school was evacuated, and the police, the fire department and the ambulance personnel were on the scene to investigate and ensure everyone's safety. Once the inspection at school was adjourned and no problems had been identified, students were able to resume classes as per usual.
The OPP has confirmed on their social media that in both cases, there appears to be no real threat to public safety. Underneath their posts online are several comments from individuals concerned about the situations taking place in the schools, and who are also worried about their child's well-being. More information will follow in the coming days once the investigation is thoroughly complete.
