My 4th flight it went into a flat spin! Not sure why but landed with very minimal damage in a catus. I had to have it since I was crew chief on them in the 90's!

That's awesome Steve! The SR-71 used to be headquartered at Beale AFB, about 25 miles from my house, and we'd often see it coming in for a landing at Beale, circling as I'd be driving home from work in Marysville, CA in the 70s to the 90s. I was so sad when they discontinued those flights. You did an awesome job flying it for the first time! Really enjoyed the video! 👍

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I got my pilot license in Beale AFB Cessna 172 in 1985...was cool when atc said to make right 360s in pattern for "IFR departure " . Very different perspective watching it bast off while airborne!!!

That is such a cool plane! I've always loved the SR71 blackbird. Such a bad ass machine. And it was made in the 60s... I think anyways

The SR71 has always been one of my favorite aircraft. They were flying around at speeds no other plane or anti aircraft rounds could catch.
My favorite part is by the time we (the country) knew of it it was time for it's retirement.
Always makes you wonder what they have now that we know nothing about.

The SR-71 is one of the best looking aircraft to ever fly, in my own humble opinion, of course. The A-12, which the SR-71 is based up is a close second.

The real SR71 had stability problems too. They tilted the motors and it ended up stopping the rocking motion issue

perhaps the only RC scale model with a scale flight speed?
Felt underpowered to me, but built very durable. I know because I have crashed it multiple times 😅 Try creating a tape tab, like other planes already have. Did like the steering, lack thereof on high-speed landings. 😂 You did better than me.

This one will be discontinued shortly after Christmas to sell off their stock and perhaps a newer better one will come out with a more heavy price tag. Just watch.
What a plane, and the models look and fly great, climbs really quick, any idea how fast it goes . Really enjoyed that review ,it's amazing how far micro electronics have come , the technical detail superb .But I can see it's for experienced pilots .❤. .Ps Do they do an RC Concorde.

EDF for a beginner would be the eFlite HABU ready to fly kit. I had one when I first started flying... it is a jet and very easy to fly.

Nice flight. It is a drone as the FAA define all of these as drones. So, since their definition matters more than anyone elses here, its a drone. Lol
But, coming from 700 size helis to planes, theres still a bit of a learning curve coming from rotored aircrafts to fix wings. For one, planes stall at certain AoA and speeds where we don't need to worry about that.
But, wouldn't a person who flies multi rotor FPVs exclusively have orientation problems when nose in? The control directions would be reversed. Ive had real full scale pilots tell me RC planes orientation was difficult because of that.
Flying drones is the identical orientaion issue (joysticks inputs on right are reversed when coming at you) so simple for people who are used to drones or Helis.

I noticed that you never use strobes on any of the flying machines. Why? I have 10 of them and they are good for 2 miles.
Watch my video from last week of the FMS Ranger… are those not strobes? I only put them on for evening flights or Fog flights.

Why don't u use ur opentx/EdgeTx tx's? They're far superior than everything spektrum! (I speak from experience. Sold the worst pos tx I ever bought [ix20se] & bought my tx16s. FAR superior!)
& I wasn't the 1st in our group to junk spektrum.
For RC planes, I love Spektrum. For FPV drones and Helicopters, I love Edge TX.
The main purpose of this model seems to be SPEED. You should start thinking about a name change; How about RC AIR PILOT? Or ALL RC AIRCRAFT PILOT ?
Nice. Why is anything that flies without a pilot now called a drone? Civilians have been flying model airplanes for many decades. We always called them just that, model airplanes. Now after all that time the press decides that is no longer valid nomenclature. Reporters act stupid way too often.
Movies as well (sci-fi) also use the word drone for planes and true drones, especially VTOLs. Sign of the times I guess

Stop calling everything a drone. He is an RC pilot flying a very nice RC plane. It is, for purpose of discussion, a toy. We do not need the FAA freak show involved in our hobby.
I'm guessing you are from the "older generation" who began when a Quad was a Quad and the word Drone was rarely used.
Drones and planes fly completely different so I disagree with your statement.
I’m living proof. I’m a camera drone pilot and an FPV drone pilot. The only thing more difficult to fly then an FPV drone is an unstabilized RC Helicopter. I honestly found it super easy to fly an RC plane using both joysticks simply using my FPV drone skills.
