- Broken unique automatic knife restoration. I found this antique automatic knife and decided to restore it. Handmade knife. The knife is similar to the Switchblade Knife, Shur-Snap Colonial. The knife was rusty and the blade was broken. I removed the rust and made a new blade. I hope you liked my restoration.

But it isn’t restoring something to erase its history. This looks like a brand new item, and indeed could as well be a brand new item copied from the old one. It now looks like a reproduction.
What’s the point?
What would be wrong with leaving it some of its hard-earned patina?

После просмотра руки аж чешутся что либо подобное сделать.
Реставрировать мне сейчас особо нечего, а вот сделать деревянные накладки на свой victorinox я уже хочу, приклею также на эпоксидку, пох что потом будет сложно счистить клей.

ESTO es realmente una RESTAURACIÓN completa de una navaja. Lástima que la hoja original ya presentaba un desgaste considerable, la nueva tendrá una vida bastante mas prolongada (creo yo). El detalle en el seguro de latón, simplemente bello... ahí está el "toque personal" del restaurador. Creo que ni cuando fue nueva esta pieza, estuvo tan bonita como ahora. Felicitaciones ReXtorer. Good work but misnamed. This isn’t restoration, it’s remaking.
Restoration doesn’t try to erase the history of an item, it doesn’t try to artificially make it look as-new, it respects the fact that it has been used.
Работа отличная, только маленькая неточность, синий цвет побежалости на металле показывает нагрев в 300 градусов цельсия, а у вас написано, что нагрев был до 200
Грів в духовці. Виставив 200 градусів ( там 230 максимальна) на 90 хвилин.
@@ReXtorer погугли что такое цвета побежалости металла, и я бы особо не надеялся на показания термометра духовки...
Цвет побежалости (а также цвета каления) раньше, до появления пирометров, широко использовали в качестве индикатора температуры нагрева железа и стали при термообработке. По цветам побежалости также судили о температуре нагрева стальной стружки и, следовательно, резца при операциях точения, сверления, резания.
Для углеродистой стали характерны следующие переходы цвета: соломенный (220 °C), коричневый (240 °C), пурпурный (260 °C), синий (300 °C), светло-серый (330-350 °C).

Here in the UK, that knife would be classified as a flick-knife, and would be intrinsically illegal. Few folks here have any liking for automatic knives; they seem to me to be unnecessarily complex, anyway. A good old-fashioned well-made standard legal folding pocket knife for me; preferably with extra useful and functional tools included. My Leatherman is ideal. Good restoration, though. You had to remake that blade, really. The original had plainly seen some serious service as a daily tool. A good quarter-hour at the flicks! 😃😉

Работа по переделке старого никудышнего ножа хороша. Только одно нож,изготовленый в каком-то учреждении испонения наказаний (ИК - ) изначально был какашка - это видно по качеству, технике исполнения и светотехника изделия. Работа хороша.
