    Thank you so much for this beautiful pattern; you made it easy with the slow motion; it resembles the brioche stitch; but this one is much easier than brioche stitch; both patterns are unique in their own way; thank you

    Great video, except for the cast on part. There's no need to use two needles for a stretchier cast on. It's how tight you pull the strand around your thumb that determines how tight your cast on edge is when you're using the long tail cast on.

    Why do you cast on with both needle like that? I'm new to knitting so does it have to do with this knitting technique or just because thats how you prefer?

    • @knittingstitchpatterns
      @knittingstitchpatterns  9 років тому +24

      +emmmilllliaaa Because this stitch creates a very stretchy fabric, so be sure the cast on and bind off are loose so the edges will stretch with the fabric.

      But I have a book and the instructions are:
      Multiples of 2 +1
      Preparation row (wrong side): Purl
      Row 1: *P1, k in next stitch through the st below; repeat from * ending with p1
      Row 2: P2, *k in next st through at below, p1; repeat from * ending with p1
      Repeat rows 1-2 till desired length.

      Yes. You have to make sure you have an even number of stitches; otherwise, it won't work right. Then, * k1, k1b * and repeat to end on every row.

      Did you ever get it how you wanted it? How many rows did you do before you looked at it? I found that I had to do about eight or 9 rows before it started looking like it but yeah mine still doesn't look as sharply ribbed as the one in the video. Maybe it's also the type of yarn and the needle gauge?...

    HEllo, just wondering, do you cast on an extra two if you want to add a selvedge edge or chain edge? I find that when I knit this the edges are bumpy. what can I do to fix this ? furthermore, how do I tink or undo a row to fix a mistake? i can't seem to undo it right and end up having to start over. kind regards

    If this was to be done in the round (to avoid seaming of any kind), would you continue this same pattern, or would there be an alteration of two rounds throughout the pattern?

    • @knittingstitchpatterns
      @knittingstitchpatterns  8 років тому +11

      +Nathan Bryant Hi,
      pattern in the round.
      Cast on an even number of stitches, and work one row of knit
      Round 1: k1b, p1* repeat from *
      Round 2: k1, p1b* repeat from *
      Repeat these two rounds until ready to bind off - knit one row of knit stitch, then bind off loosely.

      It's exactly the same as brioche. The tightness, or gauge will depend on your choice of yarn and needles.

      Rachel Cook when you're knitting into the stitch below, it doesn't matter if the stitch on the needle was knit or purled on the previous row.
