I’ve had my grandpas web belt and butt pack he wore in his tour to Vietnam in 1970. And now I can modify it to use as my actual battle belt with modern mag pouches. Thank you sir for this video. 👍🏽
All you need to do is strap over the belt and weave the bottom bar as normal and snap the strap to secure. Then use 1 or 2 clips through the top bar to keep it in place. Or Paracord it.
I picked up MOLLE pouches that have been sprayed painted as well. I used bar and liquid soap to free up the zippers. I have used heavy duty nylon zip ties to attached my pouches to my ALICE belt. Over the years, I have picked up many LBV, Chest rigs, ETC. But I find the ALICE gear still works the best! Also by having a belt extender, you can easily readjust it for bulky clothing without a lot of muss or fuss.
@FloridaBoy Survival I do a similar thing. I'm definitely a MOLLE guy. You know how sometimes you need one more loop per row to make your pouch attach securely and there is like a little half loop, usually where it's seam taped? Especially with the limited real estate on chest rigs and tac vests, and MOLLE straps won't fit it. I will use ALICE clips and/or fish and weave 550 cord in that little half loop to secure it as good as a whole loop, and I have my stuff the way I want. Similar concept using both/all concurrently. Thanks to a video you did years ago, I can use gutted paracord to secure the ALICE clips. The only problem is with the Fender guitars thing. I'm a B.C Rich ( the old, American-made ones ), Gibson, Ibanez, Jackson, ESP, and PRS guy. Then again, I've been a death metal/black metal guitarist for 33 years ( and punk, goth, and speed metal before that ), so I may be a tad biased ;) Seriously, it's good to see a guy that's into some of the same stuff I'm into : guns, gear, and guitars \m/ How long have you been playing? Have you been in any bands ( if so, who? ), and did you do any touring? I don't have another tour left in me, but I think I have another album in me. Glad to see a fellow musician, rock on \m/ \m/ ( double horns, because it's too much metal for one hand ;) )
Thanks! There are a lot of different ways to secure these pouches, no one way is wrong. I will admit that there are guitars other than Fenders lol. Never toured but played in a few local band where I live and did an acoustic gig for a long time. Guns, gear and guitars are 3 of my favorite things lol!
Cool, never had alice equipment, except for a belt i got maybe 20 years ago. Our older army gear here in the UK is mostly plce, so my gear is a mix of plce, molle, and some other ....eclectic..... choices like the (now legendary) Swedish lk35, Yugoslavian Mauser ammo pouches (excellent fit for altoids tin), Belgian gas mask bags, Czech bedroll.... You get the idea. Making it all work together is more of an exercise in stubbornness on my part than anything else. 🙄 Btw. Petroleum jelly (Vaseline) or chapstick should work to free up the zippers as well, with the added benefit that it doesn't evaporate as quickly and it gives a little waterproofing to the exposed zippers too.
thanks to this video. it's great idea. and it saves my budget to buy pouches. actually, I was consired between lc2 and mollie are NEVER adapt both ways. little bit hard to attach but it works! Me too! I like alice system so much. i use alice system for tool belt, cycle. you know when you on backpack and workout, swets alot back and makes feel not quite fresh. sorry about my poor english. so i wrote what I has gonna wanted says my mother-language(korean) :D
I recently put a few coats of Flex Seal on the zipper bag which originally held my Arcturus emergency blanket/tarp, not even thinking about the zipper. I got the zipper started moving a little, then rubbed some paraffin wax into the rest of the teeth and worked the zipper repeatedly -- worked like a charm, and no WD-40 overspray lol (am I the only one who makes a mess every time I use the stuff?) Regarding the bag, its now a lot more durable, and makes an excellent sitting/kneeling/tinder prep pad, besides being handy for foraging.
@@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival seemed like maybe it did, although I think WD seems to work a lot quicker in many situations... Wax definitely seems (to me anyway) to stick around longer. Love the videos, I learn something new every time!
Great video and demonstration!!! Question for you...where can I purchase and Alice Belt 'extender' to make my belt longer to fit a 42" waist or longer??? I love the Alice Pack but need a little larger belt extender to cover a winter coat, poncho, etc. but cannot find the regular Alice Pack extender anywhere... Any ideas? Thanks for the video and your excellent step-by-step demonstration! My the good Lord be with you and yours always!
Thanks. just google "alice belt extender" and it should come up. Depends on which type of buckle that you have on your pack but both types come up in a google search.
Tactical tailor MALICE clips are also designed with a feature that makes them compatible with ALICE webbing as well as MOLLE/ PALS. Much better than using the old ALICE clips.
@@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival Yeah, you just push the end through to the second hole and you get a perfect fit. Especially good on the medium with the webbing that runs right around the pack.
Would this technique work with laser cut MOLLE? Specifically a Wilde Custom Gear tear away tri fold medic pouch. I have an LBV-88 and I already put a MOLLE II canteen pouch on it using this technique. I'm looking for M81 woodland pouches for an IFAK that would work with this. Thanks!
Nifty! Can I do this say with an AK mag pouch that's molle (I guess I'm asking if all MOLLE is created equal)? I really like the ALICE system and it's pretty cheap still on ebay, but since I know the ALICE GI mag pouches won't really accept 30 round AK mags very well, wondering if I could rig up an AK MOLLE mag holder like you've demonstrated here. Think it's good to go?
I just wrap the MOLLE straps around the belt and snap them. I like them better this way because I can easily slide them wherever I want them. I only have two MOLLE pouches on my belt, anyway. The other three are WWII era pouches that have wide belt loops, and just slide onto the belt.
Ugh I hate having MOLLE pouches sliding all over my belt. Got some Dutch surplus mag pouches which make great junk/gp pouches and water bottle holders, can't stand having them walking off!
I think that is precisely what the grommets on the webbing on the outside of the Alice pack are for. I have a Molle / Alice adapter plate, and my bayonet with wire connector fits in the grommets.
what did you do when that hurricane went through florida? did it hurt your home? did you evacuate? thumbed it up & thx - i will do this. i have a lot of alice stuff and a lot of alice clips and i have molle stuff to mount it to. thx!
550 cord. Or zip ties. I prefer the cord, as it's reusable. There are Malice clips, etc but they're expensive and require a tool to remove them. Use the zip to run 550 through the web bars.
Wouldn’t the metal Alice clips dig into your skin through a shirt and cause chaffing and blisters? The British military go so far as having cushioned pads on the inside of their belt kits, but perhaps they plan to have more weight in their belt kits?
Way too complicated. I've forever been mountinbg MOLE canteen pouched on my Alice pack and/or jeans belt just by putting the MOLLE vertical straps under the horizontal webs, skipping the upper 2 webs. Doing this for years, the only issues I've coma across are that the MOLLE pouches flop around a bit and by repeatedly moving the pouches around, the male snaps eventually tear out of the pouches. Easily fixed with some 5/8" heavy duty snaps from Walmart, which grip a little looser, meaning a repeat is less likely.
can't you just snap the molle around the alice belt without the terrible skin rubbing alice clips? it might not be as tight, but those alice clips run horribly.
Yes, that's what I do, and what all my friends do. It works fine, and you can then slide the pouched to wherever you want them very easily. I think it's a big advantage.
I’ve had my grandpas web belt and butt pack he wore in his tour to Vietnam in 1970. And now I can modify it to use as my actual battle belt with modern mag pouches. Thank you sir for this video. 👍🏽
No problem. You can mix and match with these pretty well

Thanks for doing this video because I like both Molle and Alice gear and I prefer to use interchangeably just because they’re available.
Totally agree! I have both and use them together also
Thank you for posting.
Very helpful.
No problem

Greatings from Ukraine. Thanks for the video, really need this. I had the opposite task, attaching alice pouch to a molle without using any adapter.
Glad it helped! ALICE works on MOLLE also
Great idea, I tried to spray paint a nylon Molle sheath once, it didn't work out to well lol
Really cool 👍, Good looking out. Very helpful.

This makes me wonder if this can be done on the Dutch Army Alice Rigs... (tho I heard their hot from the canvas fabric and not well liked).

Awesome hack. Loving the channel. New sub. Fender rules.
Thanks for the sub! I will admit that there are other guitars, but none that i will play other than Fender lol
Kinda wondering instead of scrunching the molle into the alice clip maybe loop some 550 cord to hold the clip in place.
You could do that also. Or use some zip ties...
Again, good job. I need to start carrying a flat tip with my gear. :). Significate other named Alice?
Thanks! No, she is not lol
Wrap the molle pouch straps around belt and weave the rest thru the molle pouch and snap
That is exactly how I do it, but these are old style pouches
Hi, is it possible to use the 1910 type attachment for water canteens on the alice pack? I.e. the one with two hooks only
Maybe. The pack does have the holes at the attachment points however I do not have the old style accessories in order to see if they will attach...
I think that is precisely what the grommets on the webbing on the outside of the Alice pack are for. I have a Molle / Alice adapter plate, and my bayonet with wire connector fits in the grommets.
is there something special for mounting an old leather KA-Bar usmc fighting knife to a molle back pack? thx.
Don't know, you just have to look at it and see if you can rig something up to attach it to the molle straps. Zip ties maybe?
I'm working on designing/making a sheath that attaches to a Molle / Alice adapter plate.
Fender amps too !
Absolutely! Nothing better than a Fender guitar through a Fender amp...
what did you do when that hurricane went through florida? did it hurt your home? did you evacuate? thumbed it up & thx - i will do this. i have a lot of alice stuff and a lot of alice clips and i have molle stuff to mount it to. thx!

You can hang them on the molle loops with alice clips. They dont fit perfectly but they work pretty well

dye it olive green

I don't think this will work with the MOLLE II canteen carrier?
It may but I am not familiar with that carrier. Try it.....
