I'm looking forward to when my yard looks even close to how your yard looks. My backyard was overseeded two weeks ago, and now I'm looking forward to its first mow after overseeding. I just overseeded the front yard this past weekend. I'm staying up on my watering and keeping the seed moist. I have some weed pressure already, but I plan to take care of that with some Tenacity. Thanks for all the great content. We appreciate what you do! 💯
I went right from your vid where you was tilling your yard to this video, you been putting in work and very real and knowledgeable! New subscriber now!
Videos in almost mid-September ok LA still hanging in there and your grass always bounces back beautifully cant wait to see whats going on with that side yard like its mine 😂 see u next vid!! #tunedin
Yes I'm hanging in there. I got a tight schedule at this point in the year but I'm tryna finish strong. I want to help everyone close out the lawn season properly. But overall everything is turning out fine and the side yard update will be coming soon. Thank you for watching
I overseeded my front lawn with new tips and ideas mentioned on this show, despite the 90's this week we have day 8 of germination and its going good another week and cut will be in progress...
I’ll never use a starter fertilizer the same day as an overseed again man.. Shit grew like 4” in 3 days lol I was hella pissed ended up having to mow it 13 days in I’m unhappy about it.. And I been getting banged up by dollar spot of course ended up with 3” of rain in two days and did some serious damage.. idk I might give it another week let the seedlings grow some more than throw out some more seed. The weather in Jersey has been ass this summer and early fall crazy humid and hot
Yes thats exactly why I never use the starter fertilizer the same day as overseed because that existing grass will feast on it and you'll be mowing very soon
Great video. I've always applied the starter fertilizer at the same time as seeding but your explanation of applying it after seeding makes sense. I may try that this year. Thanks!
Thanks for the update. My lawn is a little behind yours, just starring the 2nd week after my overseed. Appreciate getting N idea from your lawns progress, what to expect!
Your overseeding job turned out great. I'm across the sound from you and the soil temps shot up into the 80s with the heat wave here. I'll be starting my overseeding this week. I just wish my yard was smaller and I was younger. 😁🤣😅
How do you avoid stepping and damaging the new baby grass while you’re moving the sprinkler around the yard? I have a large yard with no irrigation system in place.
What’s that tool called??? I have a few spots… I’m excited… my neighbor says I’m lawn goals…. All thanks to you… and a little bit of determination from me 😂😂😂
I used the scotts triple action and I seeded some spots, it's doing a great job on the crabgrass, but it took 2 weeks for the seeds germate and it's taking longer for the the baby grass to grow, this was 3 weeks ago, I spot seeded the back yard without the triple action and it grew much faster, I would definitely recommend the triple action but wait until the seeds grow a little bit.
I noticed my new grass wasn't growing as quickly after I overseeded and used the Triple Action earlier this year and last year also. I thought it was just me!?!? I'll wait until week after next to drop the fertilizer.
Good video, I dethatched mowed short then over seeded with TTF KB mix from Blackout. It’s day 9 and no germination. I think I may have been watering too much. Is there anyway to save it now? Thanks
Hello, I am in Cleveland Ohio. I dethatched/scarified and overseeded over Labor Day weekend. I was very aggressive with the scarcifing. I used Scott’s Sun And Shade Blend Seed. I used Scott’s Starter Firtilizer. The seed started to germinate about day 8. Now the temps are high in the upper 60s and low of low 50s. I am worried that the sprouts/spikes grow will slow down and the remaining seed won’t germinate. Should I be worried or will the yard continue to grow and the seeds will still germinate?
No thats fine they'll continue to grow. The grass seeds germinate fast then the grass will get to a faze where it'll slow down on top growth because the roots are developing then the top growth will resume. Just keep watering and don't worry
What’s a good weed killer for lawns that works like tenacity ? I used tenacity fr years but I’m starting to not like it because of the white bleaching.
So do you just hand water the newly overseeded spot after your first overseed? And how long do you wait to mow again without sucking the seeds you just put down?
I sit my sprinkler out and water the whole lawn. The next mow will be in about 5 days. The seeds won't get sucked up once you roll them into the soil no worries on that
@@LawnAmateur gotcha, but at this point you would be dropping your watering cycle at 30 days right? So the new seed would not get as much water and may not germinate or and if you water more of the older lawn wouldn't you risk getting some disease. I overseed my lawn this year with tall fescue and I put down some bio advance same day as seed. It seems to help.
@carlom9710 I'm still keeping my same watering cycle. I'm not worried about disease at this time of the year I already protected my lawn enough this season so its ok
@yeremy7144 I use Turf type tall fescue by Greenview. Scotts has a Tall Fescue Pennington has Tall Fescue Expert Garden Tall Fescue Virgro Tall Fescue These are good big box store options Then you have Jonathan Green Fescue. This one is a little higher in price but alot of people love this seed.
Lawn looking nice Bro. My P levels are double what they should be. I’m thinking its best to skip the starter fertilizer this time around. What do you think I should do?
I'm in Southeast state. Is it advisable to Dethach and overseed in the month of Sept or I should wait till next Spring? Thanks for information you shared.
Killing my neighbors front yard today giving me 2 weeks to do the prep work before the seed goes down. She has like 5% grass and 95 weeds. Ill be going down with gci tttf

good one for you cool season guys!
Yea we get lucky
Nice video, your lawn will look great.
Thank you
How do you avoid stepping and damaging the new baby grass while you’re moving the sprinkler around the yard? I have a large yard with no irrigation system in place.
There's really no way around it but just walking on the baby grass is ok it won't harm it. Just no running or stomping on it.
Looking good brother
Thank you
Always good info!
Thank you
Will you have a video discussing how to winterize your lawn? I never know how much N to throw on during the fall.
Yes I will
Looking great. I am in the process of a full reno myself 🤞
Thank you, you'll do good just keep it moist.
My over-seeding looks like a failure 🙁☹️ it’s KBG I’m praying that overtime it will get better… I might throw down the remaining seeds.
Why would you say its a failure?
It looks awful…I will I will send you a link so that you can see…

What do you use to water your lawn with? Type of sprinkler...?
Aqua Joe sprinkler

So how long do you wait to put fertilizer after you put down the grass seed
I like to wait about 10-14 days to put down that first dose of starter fertilizer.
What’s a good weed killer for lawns that works like tenacity ? I used tenacity fr years but I’m starting to not like it because of the white bleaching.
I don't know of any weed killer that's like tenacity. I would say reduce the rate that should cut down on the bleaching part.
What grass seed did you use to overseed?
Greenview turf type tall fescue
I apologize if I missed this somewhere else, but what kind of seed do you use?

I never drop fertilizer at seed or overseed.
