Inkscape is definitely a good program, got to get better with it rather than using as a file converter after using CAD.

I love Xscape I use it for my lasers as well as for my CNC I find a lot of times it's easier to create my initial SVG on inkscape for carbide create for my CNC machine

Thank you so much! You took this transition from Inkscape to Lasergrbl so much easier than other videos I had already viewed. I appreciate it!

Great tutorial! Do you know what I would be doing wrong that an SVG file from Inkscape won’t open in LaserGRBL? I’m trying to cut some thin basswood but the file won’t open. Thanks.

I've honestly never had any luck with opening a SVG on laser grbl and getting it to work properly I would try the same method as I did on the video export a PNG and set to cut on the laser software

LaserGRBL seems to be locked on front/left as home. You figure out how to make center default home? I can center per project, but I want the laser to begin, as default, on my workspace center.

No sorry the only way is to do per project

If you have the original buttons, there is a globe icon. place your laser to where you want to be the start point or home, and click on the globe

@@splinterfingerswoodworking8995 I assume if clever enough with Gcode it could be written in, but a lass, I'm not that clever..

@@TONYNELSON I thought I tried that and it started back at the front/left again.. I'll try again!

@@BywaysnoHighways the front left to my understanding has to be the homing spot because that's where the homing switches originate from but if you are working on a project you can use the globe to set your home wherever you're wanting it at just use the little arrow keys to position your laser at the spot you are wanting do not move it by hand and it will make the spot you have it it's point of origin

hello kindly I bought a sculpfun s10 and I'm using lasergrbl without problems but I don't know how to do something by chance a wooden keychain with the engraving and the final cut of the piece with the appropriate hole to put the iron circle as it is done thanks settings

As far as cut settings I do not have any experience I've only use this for doing engravings as far as for engravings I have found best way to get it zeroed in perfect is to have a few test pieces and just engrave a small spot and and adjust as needed mine is a 5.5 Watt and I keep it set on 100% and only adjust the speed on laser gerbil like for pine I found that 1,000 works best but with something like cedar or poplar I actually go up to 2000 something harder like oak or walnut 1,000 to 1500 seems to do the best so far the plywood that I have used has worked good from 1,500 to 2,000

You may need to adjust the power settings on the laser grbl app you have the ability to adjust it on the second pop-up when you first upload your image

the problem with inkscape is that it cant do grayscale, when i used my lightburn trial my machine would do grayscale engraving, but when i tried to put a color image to inkscape i lose a lot of detail and it sucks

As far as creating your own images I use inkscape but you have to start with a stock image that is like a vector or SVG similar to a child's coloring book with just a simple black and white images
