Hi there! We stayed once in the centre of Lyon and once slightly east of the city but still within walking distance. We parked our car outside our Airbnb and walked into the main town centre (about 20 min walk). Hope that helps!
It is possible to take public transport from Lyon to Chamonix (likely through Geneva, Switzerland), unfortunately it would be too far for a day trip. Best to divide up your time between the two. Good luck with your trip!
Hi! Sorry to say because we didn’t visit in the winter so not sure if it’s as nice in winter or not. We were there in summer of 2020 so it was less busy than I imagine a regular summer.

Can’t remember exactly but it must of been around an hour or an hour and a half.
