- BLUE CRABS, In this video we'll be in Pascagoula Mississippi catching Blue Crabs with handlines and ring traps. We were trying to catch the incoming tide but we got to our spot early and the current was still outgoing very strong. Right away we started catching large Blue Crabs mostly on handlines, the good crabbing lasted for about an hour and a half, then the tide slacked and so did the crabbing. We ended up with a nice mess of large Blue Crabs, plenty for our dinner. After we cleaned the Crabs we cooked them on the tailgate of our truck for a great dinner when we got back to our room.

Another great video and some great crabs also! When you clean your crabs there, do you throw them shell in the trash, on the bank or back in the water? Not as in littering but is there a benefit it anything to put the shell's back or are they useless? Also a question for Sam! What brand and size (feet and inch of mesh) shrimp net do you use? Amount of lead on the lead line and where do you buy it/them? I'd like to buy American made but it send they run a few hundred dollars while some like Betts you can get for around a hundred. With a worn-out right shoulder and only half of normal range if muffin in my right arm old have to use my left arm. I'm thinking a 10' 1/2" and at least 1 lb weight. A 5/8 might cause me to miss to many Kroger shrimp. What do you think? I'm be sitting waiting in your next video and hopefully your answers. Sorry if I put too many questions to you. This broken down old fat man just looking for info! 😂. Y'all take care!!
If we clean the crabs at a fish cleaning table at one of ramps we just throw them in the water. I have several brands of cast nets including the expensive ones. I also had Rotator Cuff surgery on both of my shoulders and a bad back I usually throw a 9 foot net. The ones I use the most are made by Fitec, the Ultra Spreader and Super Spreader 1 lb per foot lead weights, 5/8 and 3/8 mesh. They're not as heavy as my custom net so I'm able to throw them most of the day. The company says it's an American but I think the nets are still made in China. It seems like you can't get away from China. I bought them from West Marine and Amazon. Good luck and Thanks for Watching

Also, I thought that I needed rotator cuff surgery 5 years ago but the surgeon said that would be needless as I needed total shoulder replacement. However at my age and with other medical problems I've opted to forego any surgeries but for those absolutely necessary. If I were younger and better overall health I'd definitely consider it. I'd hate to go through surgery as well as the pain of recovery and rehab only to die just as I'm recovering! 😂 I know that may seen silly but if I can get by I'll do as much as I can do without surgery, just yet anyway. 😂

I love watching your videos. I've only eaten snow crab, king crab, and stone crab. I've watched many videos that say blue crabs are just as good. I was born and raised in Louisiana, but never ate blue crabs. I now live in Oklahoma and have no options for crabbing here.
My sister lives near Galveston, TX, so next time I visit her, I'm going crabbing for blue crabs and am going to have a crab boil. I can't wait. You guys always make crabbing look so fun, and Joyce always makes the crabs look yummy.

People think catchIng crabs with handline is easy. It's not takes years of experience. As soon as craps see light or you there gone. You guys do excellent job. Going have to try crab and vegetable pizza. Going fishing any time soon ?

Really nice crabs, I bet they were very tasty, great crabbin skills too. When we were a kid you could scoop blue crabs right out of the surf, running along the beach...at st George's Island in the late 70's

You guy's don't need a boat to catch crab. Beautiful work. We use ring nets here in South Australia. We also rake them out of the sand with a crab rake. Just walk out in the shallows, and they are everywhere. Fantastic 👌

I hit the 888 uptoot . But the white tablecloth resturants in the Quarter have different pizza at times but they don't have Blue Crab pizza.

We go to the Biloxi area about once a month and fish and crab, we just like that part of Mississippi. There are a lot of places to crab between Pascagoula and Bay St Louis, Biloxi is in about the middle. Thanks for Watching

@@TheOldCoupleOutdoors hey Sam, they have the armored catfish all over Florida. They hard to skin but they taste just like a lobster that’s just one tip for you. Also the sale cat I’m sure you catch them a lot of people throw them away they got eaten as well. Did you know that if you take the sale cat and cut him off just behind ahead put them on the tree the ass completely eat everything off and you will find an exact picture of the cross with Jesus on it and it’s also a rightl inside of it. It’s very interesting check it out.

I assume you guys are staying in hotels. As much as you two travel around the coast line, would a trailer or van RV be cheaper in the long run? Y’all caught another good mess today. Careful in that heat.
We've been thinking about an RV. When we're in Mississippi we usually stay at one of the casinos on a weekday (it's a lot less expensive ) we find that they're less expensive than the standard hotels and you have security, better views and because of the construction they are quieter but we're still considering an RV. @@TheOldCoupleOutdoors The costal commercial RV campgrounds are as expensive as a nice hotel. However since you’re like me, over 65, you can get really reasonable senior discounts at State Parks campgrounds and Core of Engineer RV parks. Unfortunately most are booked 6 months out. Nonetheless, if you book early, you can find sites. Some government parks also offer first-come-first-serve camp sites. I just checked, the Davis Bayou Campground in Ocean Springs, MS, full hookup sites are $22 per night.

Guess what James my husband we just bought a 26 foot trailer so we have been packing up the place where we have been living at for 6 years and we are going to be living deep in the woods and there has been black bears around got to buy me some bear spray and maybe a large shot gun
