  • Blue Crabs and Shrimp, in this video we'll be crabbing and shrimping in the St. Johns River. We started off shrimping then baited up our crab traps [pots] with Shrimp heads and set them in the St. Johns River. After setting for two days we pulled the Blue Crab Traps and had a nice supprise, lots of Blue Crabs. #bluecrabs #catchingbluecrabs #catchingshrimp

When my husband was alive we used to go crabbing all of the time, but we are in NJ. It was my job to clean the crabs as he was cleaning the boat and engine so the salt water didn't stay in it, he would put the prop in a trash can full of water and run the engine so the fresh water would circulate through it. Anyway, after I cleaned the crabs, (I hosed them out also to get all of the junk out also) they would be nice and ready to cook. I used to fry them in a large pan with light olive oil, smoked paparika, garlic powder, Old Bay, salt and red pepper. After I fried them on both sides until done I would add some butter, chopped garlic and oregano, fried them a little longer to activate the oregano, damn they were good this way! Try this recipe, it's a good change from the traditional way in water.

my first time watching one of your videos. I am reminded of my own grandparents watching you two get along. I hope the big storm Ian passes you by. Being raised crabing, shrimping, crawfishing, and fishing I was shocked when I saw you shell and clean your crabs before you boiled them. Trust me I have eaten them nearly every way imaginable, even like that but again trust me you are washing away all the Best flavor ever. The "yellow stuff" is not only very edible but it's why people love boiled crabs! It makes the meat sweet. Anyway I enjoyed your channel stay safe from the Storm,!

Always love watching Joyce cook after a day on the water but was a little disappointed on your last two videos catching mackerel you didn't cook them really would have liked to see how you cook them have nightmares on the way my father cooked them floating in oil and black meat as a child only ate what ever my father shot or caught miss those days

We cooked them in a separate video called Spanish Mackerel Candied, check it out they were very good. You have to bleed them right after you catch them and get them on ice right away and when you clean them cut the blood line out. Thanks a lot for Watching Anthony

Hello Sam/Joyce!! My 1st time crossing y’all’s video, I enjoyed it and the bot of u! Did y’all make ur own traps? If so is there a video on building them?? I’ve never thrown a cast net but Sam sure makes it look easy. My name is Joyce as well, but shortened it years ago, I’m 61. I was not raised eating fish, or food from the ocean, but I sure love eating them now. It is nice meeting y’all! Have a wonderful day! Thank u

Glad you found us. No I didn't make those traps, you can start out with a handline and dip net, you can catch a lot of crabs that way. You can get the ring traps at Dick's Sporting Goods or some Walmarts have them. Thanks again for Watching our videos

I was getting hungry watching you cook, Joyce! Another seasoning you might want to try is Paul Prudhomme's seafood magic. It's not as spicy as the Tony Chacere's creole seasoning.
