This video helps you learn how to use mdi with spacer like an Aerochamber or other similar holding chambers.
Proper use of inhaler is very important for better medicine outcomes. Missing out on a step may lead to inefficient dosage delivery which inadvertently affects your health.
In case of using metered dose inhaler (mdi) like ProAir and Ventolin with a spacer, getting inhaling technique right is very important for getting the right dose. The video is precisely timed so that you can practice taking your mdi inhaler with a spacer whenever you want to take a dose.
At www.use-inhalers.com/ we provide inhaler instructions for all major asthma inhalers in a fun and interactive way. We have tools that teach you correct breathing technique for your inhaler, help you practice inhaler technique and then test your inhaler technique for better retention. Above all inhaler instructions are available in major languages like English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and many others.
    We offer other inhaler training:

Holding your breath for 10 seconds allows the time for medicine to be absorbed by your lungs. If you breathe out immediately after inhaling, then the medicine also comes out. You may not get the full dose.
It is recommended that you hold your breath for 10 seconds or as long as you are comfortable.

Note there should be no “whistle sound” when you inhale that means you are doing it too fast. It will say this on your device

Anyone with experience with spacers, have you found that you get more of the medication using the spacer, or do you get more of the medication when just using the inhaler itself? I've been using a spacer the DR gave me, but don't really feel like I need it. I saw that it said it helps with the medication getting more on your throat and mouth, and if you have any irritation to it, you should use a spacer, but I don't. Should I just use the inhaler by itself?
What's the most bang for my buck? Also, I know how to use and inhaler without the spacer, so it's not like the spacer would be helping me use it properly.

if we use mouthpiece spacer, is it eligible for only one breath per puff? Is it same as we used without spacer right (directly from MDI)?

Hi UseInhalers Correctly, I just want to inform you that it is incorrect to only classify aerosols as MDI's as all medicated devices used for asthma are all metered dose inhalers, including turbuhalers such as Seretide and Symbicort and Accuhalers (Diskus) such as Advair. The more correct term for aerosols that are used for spacers is pMDI (pressurised metered dose inhalers). It is a common mistake in much literature to classify pMDI's as the only MDI's when DPI's are also technically metered dose inhalers.

Can you tell when the inhaler is working? I used it twice and it does seem like it did anything< I didn't feel any kind of sensation or air. Does the meter drop with dose?

I think most people would benefit from having a spacer, and I think your doctor is ridiculous for being so dismissive.

You can buy spacers on Amazon for as little as $20. The one from my daughter's doctor was $50 (insurance covered thankfully), but I needed a second one to keep at school.

So I was prescribed an inhaler but I don't have asthma or trouble breathing. Doctor said it was mainly for my throat. Is it safe to use with that being said?

    • @debbiewright82

Christian Gutierrez... Your medically trained physician prescribed you a medication and explained to *your individual need* for said device and, in YOUR mind, the next logical step is to ask the opinion of mostly uneducated children on the internet...... Of course!! I totally see your responsible train of thought and series of actions..... Okay, I don't. I'm sorry. Geez, I pray you've learned better by now since this post.

You can also go to useinhaler website to learn more techniques on more inhalers or learn the technique in Spanish. You can understand what happens to your body when you inhale also. There are also inhaler lessons you can take to understand the proper technique. Check it out. It is free right now. It can only help.
