Love your method of sewing placemats...I have a jelly roll piece I wasn't thrilled with and I cut it into rectangles which i will use for placemats...thanks for the tutorial hugs, Julierose🥰
I made a placemat today (scrappy) I love the way it looks. I have a lot of scraps so maybe I can make all the family a set. I love your videos and your sweet voice. Betty B
The end result is quite beautiful even though things started out looking pretty scruffy! I wish I could take such a relaxed approach to quilting ! Thank you.
I found you. I love your vlog tutorial for easy quilting .. Scrappy squares are my favorite thing to sew. I went though alot of your shows and found some great ideas. Your in my head. I love all the quilts.
Thank you for so many lovely videos, I am enjoying them and learning so much. I really like your relaxed style, it gives me more confidence to just try it!
Amo retalhos e seus projetos são lindos e úteis. Sua máquina de costura também tem o som suave e bem precisa se preocupar com a linha, muito legal. Deus abençoe com saúde e sucesso. Gratidão
Is it necessary to do any quilting after you go around all of the edges, in order to attach the back and the front together? Or does this work just fine without it?
I find it really difficult to be as random as you are when it comes to joining scraps. I like everything to be planned. I guess not everyone sews the same. Also would you not sew diagonal lines from corner to corner to secure your backing to the two layers? For laundering purposes? I keep watching your posts hoping your spontaneity rubs off on me! Cheers and thanks!
Thank you for stopping by Lois. Yes...we're all SO different and it does show up....even in quilting! LOL. When I made these placemats I decided NOT to quilt them and they have been holding up just fine! I use them often and wash them often. Of course, you could quilt them if you prefer. I think they stay together because I caught a little bit of the batting when I stitched the top stitching around the sides. Happy sewing!
Since a long time that I follow you, I ask myself a question: you have a ton of scrap. Can I ask you where you take your scrap? I am a newbie and I would like to know where I can buy scrap fabric cuz I like what you do with it. Do I have to sew 40 quilts to have a lot lot ton of scraps?? Help, please. Thanks.
I have been sewing for 40 years.....so it has taken me some time to accumulate. LOL! You can purchase scraps from ebay, etsy, friends and relatives.... or you can find fabric in second hand stores. Good luck on your collection! 🙂
I like your no nonsense kind of tutorial. You don’t spend ten minutes with the intro. Love that.

Beth you have wonderful videos for using scrap materials. God bless you and your family ❤️❤️
Thank you so much!
My kind of sewing! I enjoy your instruction, nice clear, calm instruction! God bless!
Great idea! Also like how you can just quilt two layers so you can add backing and no separate binding!
Great little scrap project. It's also the perfect type of project to quilt as you go. Saves time and each will look different on the back.

I use a few placemats like this and they seem to work fine. Happy sewing!

I found 3 large boxes of large scraps and fabric as well at our hospice thrift store for 50 dollars. Great find. My Christmas present to myself
