    The reason why SOAD is great is because no one has ever sounded like them before, or since. They truly stand alone. And not because they were trying to be avant garde or different, but because they were true originals.

      Two objective reasons. Rhythmical variety and structure far ahead of anyone in their genre. Remarkable unity achieved by using the vocals to connect the song parts, far more advanced than the typical solutions used in their genre.

    I found SOAD’s “steal this album” on the side of the road in my hometown, thought it was a burnt CD or something, took it home and put it in my boombox, became a huge fan. They blew my mind and I was maybe 10 years old, still regard them as my top 3 bands to this day. And anyone I’ve ever talked to about, they either love em or hate em… I think they are one of the most unique and amazing bands ever and Rubin is spot on.

    The left right channel voice thing. It sucks. Had to change to mono for this video. Why does anyone think this is a good idea?

    • @djlobb
      @djlobb 7 років тому +26

      Just bad video editing, no concept of basic audio editing skills. Seems like they just plugged the two mics into a Zoom or the video camera itself, which makes it one audio file (stereo) Mic 1 being on left, Mic 2 being on right etc. Really easy to prevent... All NLE editors allow some form of editing, for example Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere allow combining of the two stereo tracks. I hear it with other interviews as well- sometimes there's only one mic used and it's just on the left ear, not sure how they thought it was perfectly fine, were they editing in mono???
