I live 20 minutes from the Adam's River and go out quite a few times a year just to walk along the trails. This video is pretty amazing. Thank you for sharing it.

Lucky you to have this beautiful view and clear river nearby. I would go there every day just to chill my body dan mind if i was close. It's so hot right now in my city and clear blue sky with almost no cloud. And almost all of the river are dirty and poluted with trash and chemicals

So sad to read today that the Adams River salmon run of 2018 is only seeing circa 700,000 salmon, a massive decline. This could be due to salmon farming, rising water temperatures and is a clear warning to us to change our habits, our planet and its most ancient inhabitants are in more danger than ever before.

If you think that's bad, look at the rivers in WA and OR. Salmon need cold, clean water which is supported by big native trees and streamside vegetation. In WA and OR, on just about every piece of private property next to the river you will see invasive plants, few trees, clearcut hillsides from logging, diked rivers for agriculture which ruins floodpains necessary for salmon rearing, dams, etc..etc...etc. Columbia river used to support runs of 15 million + salmon, now it is less than 1 million and most of them are man made hatchery fish. We need a cultural revolution or we will lose them...just like we are losing all of the other animals in the world. Native plants should be required landscaping for every property on a salmon bearing stream.

Very nice. Underwater scenes of salmon are so impressive. My video of the salmon run on the American River does not have any underwater shots. I've been thinking about buying a GoPro camera to do those. Great video!

No. The flesh is already rotting by then and they are pretty mushy. As soon as they are done spawning, they die.

Salmon only spawn once in their life and then they die soon after. They spend most of their adult life feeding in the North Pacific ocean before returning to the same place they were born to spawn and die. They lay eggs in the late summer and fall and then the eggs that survive the winter hatch in the spring and the cycle repeats. There are 5 different types of pacific salmon and all of them have different lifespans and unique traits. Truly an amazing species 🐟 🐟

Finding the acceptable natal habitat or now utilizing habitat that offers the prospect of live progeny under the conditions this species creates its next generations within as habitat conditions, water flows, dissolved oxygen levels, and surviving to return to the Pacific themselves after beginning their freshwater life cycles as their parents protect and serve until they perish in this life sustaining Cycle...
