- Three US service members were killed and 25 injured in a drone attack on American troops in northeast Jordan near Syria late on January 28. The US has blamed Iranian-backed militias for the attack on the Al-Tanf US military base near the Jordanian-Syrian-Iraqi border. Some officials said a large drone struck the base, which two other American officials identified as an installation in Jordan known as Tower 22. The Biden Administration has pledged “we will hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner our choosing”. Meanwhile, US Senator Lindsey Graham urged Biden it was time to “hit Iran now” and “hit them hard”.

Usually after the attack on Irani interests and assets by US or their allies, Iran typically issue statement that they would respond appropriately at a time and place of their choosing and punish the enemy. Nothing seem to happen after that. Then some event occurs somewhere and Iran remains silent. When accused of Iran's role, Iran denies and distances itself from the event.
Iran always operate through their proven model - Backed by Iran + not directed by Iran. They have allies, assets and supporters who might trigger unprovoked attacks anywhere in the world randomly and from completely unsuspected quarters whose source, motivation and links are usually difficult to confirm.

From my research, the attack took place at Tower 22, a US outpost inside Jordan close to the Syrian border and close to Al Tanf US base located a few miles away, within Syrian territory. It is close to the convergence point of Syrian, Iraqi and Jordanian territory.
