I had been looking for some mathematical way to quickly determine exactly how much of the foreground subject would be in focus when using shallow depth of field at different f stops. So glad you found that app and I want to start using it too vs. my normal way of "ballparking it"!
It's a great little app, thanks for that. WHile I understood DoF, what it is/does etc I was never great at calculating it. One question though - I presume your are still always focussing on the eyes?
So a technical app. And how did you measure the distance between you and subject..... seems stupid to use the calculator just to wing it with the parameters
Cranky, that lens has a larger front element than my William Optics Apo astrograph!!! All we want to do with this lens isto take a picture of a girl. Nice photos though.
@@J.Allen_Photography Thanks much! I have Canon’s original EF 85mm f1.2L II USM. I’m shooting a 5D Mark IV. I don’t think the lens you have is compatible with my body.
wow thanks so much for sharing,
This is exactly what I needed!! Thank you!
Finally a real informative video
Brilliant explanation about the app, Thanks
Wow. It blew your mind. So simple when you know about DOF. Thanks, Jason.
Great stuff
Thank you

6 feet from subject, 20 feet from subject, never knew how to figure this out. Discovered the tape measure it blew my mind. 😂
Feel free to create your own channel and video to share it! Have a great day!

May I ask what lens you're shooting with?
I shot this with the 85mm f1.2 RF L lens

@@mikeo7781 it’s not but you already have a great lens. Changing lens isn’t going to do anything for you
Do what now!?!
The focal.length of the lens also affects the depth of field at the same aperture.
