Hello Montreal.. I lived there in 1969 as a 14 year old ... Watched them walk in the moon while living there. Only lived there for one year, my father's job took us there. My teacher gave up on teaching me French...lolol
Hi Laura, so happy I found your podcast in my younger days. I did a lot of collecting. Have a lot of things in the Attic I have to go through. I'm just leaving everything really to my son and what he wants to do with it. I'm in my little bit past my mid-60s now but I do appreciate your staging because it has given me new ideas for my old things so thank you so much. I keep up the staging some of the things I can't believe I've never thought of before
Do you clean the artifacts you purchased, or do you leave them with the same patina? How about polishing shoes or purses? Do you clean all the furniture you purchase for a better resale value? About jewelry, do you polish the pieces? I know I would. I would LOVE to get into vintage resales, but knowing me, I would want to keep everything I buy which is NOT a good thing since I am trying to "lighten up" my stuff. Thanks for your posts!!
Hi Laura. You just picked up a large pestle and I happen to know what it is because my Mother used one. Is used in a cone shaped metal colander that has a 3 legged stand. Fruit is placed inside and the pestle is used to mull large quantities of fruit which drains into a bowl under the stand. The juice is then used to make jelly. Mother canned and made jelly, jam and preserves. She was a wonderful cook.
Not long ago I walked into a Goodwill here in Indianapolis and on a cart not yet put on display was the Louisville Stoneware cornflower pattern water cooler - perfect condition - for $3.99. I love Louisville Stoneware and Hadley pottery so I was delighted. You have such good taste and a good eye in what you collect. Fun to watch!
I am looking forward to learning from you Laura Caldwell! I have retired and have a houseful that I need to clean out so my family does not have to worry about it later!
It’s so hard for me when you pick up something I really love. That Chinese teapot with leaves on it…..oh my! I am screaming…buy it …buy it! But sadly…you don’t hear me! 😂
A friend of mine I work with has the same style of folding table with the brass top. She inherited it from her mom and also some beautiful scarves and throws. Oh and a gorgeous tea set. So gorgeous!
Hi, Laura! I’ve been waiting for you to post this video, since I was in Klamath Falls on a thrifting day with 2 girlfriends not long after you were there (and saw your table cards on the counter advertising the Rose City Vintage Market/Left Coast Flea at Keepers!) 🥳 We too hit the Goodwill, both Hospice stores (scored some myrtlewood there), and Keepers (still having a number of vendor sales, sooo good!), but sadly did not have time to make it everywhere and now clearly need to return to hit the last 2 stops on your tour (Spring Street Antiques, wowsa!). Oh, Klamath Goodwill store is actually part of a network of stores called Southern Oregon Goodwill (include Klamath, Medford, Ashland, White City, Central Point, Grants Pass, Roseburg and Yreka in No. California) and they do some distribution among all of the stores (I’m in them enough the staff at many stores know me, and have a high school friend who works in the Grants Pass one, so I ask them all about how things work-plus my donations at my local GW in GP I’ve actually later seen at other stores). But we were also pleasantly surprised at all of the great finds at that GW location. What pawn shop did you stop at (we saw one when downtown near our lunch spot, Leap of Taste, so yummy, on Main Street. Would be interested to know, great jewelry finds!) Glad you had so much success in such a small community--and love the Belgium pottery piece, found one quite similar at my GW, very cool. 🌸
Oh Laura, Laura, Laura---look at all that room in the front seat! I can see daylight there in the back, too. You aren't even close to full there, not until you have to leave your water bottle behind! Just kidding, I haven't seen one of your videos for a while, caught you in Italy with Vintage Weekends & thought I'd come catch up. I wish I wasn't too "vintage" to take one of your trips, b/c I love Italy & shopping for treasures, but I am not a happy traveler any more & my house is as full as I want it to be (that's a lie I tell myself!) & there are plenty of treasures in my local thrift stores (see? I lied about my not wanting more stuff in my house, well, what I really need is a bigger house!). Good to see your fun videos again!
Ohhhhhh….I see so much more room in your car! At least 10” to the top and the front seat is bare! One good tip I have, is buckle up the seat belt in the front seat before you pile on stuff on it, I’ve driven with beeping warning noise for miles, because it thinks someone is sitting in the front seat, lol. Okay, I just confessed to how much of a hoarder I am
Great fun! You and my daughter would get along so well with you organizing and packing skills! Thanks for taking us along. ( I love myrtle wool, too! Not just because it’s beautiful, but also because it’s unique to our beloved Oregon!). 💚💚💚
The best way to get off rust (that I've ever tried) is hot sauce. So like Cholula or Tabasco ... that kind of thing. I think I used Tabasco and a small wire brush. I was trying to get rust off of my bike and it worked really well. It was covered in rust and I ended up getting enough rust off of it to where it was sellable.
There's some kind of oxy soap you can soak lace and linens in the wash delicately. Then lay on green grass all day on a sunny day. Usually the chlorophyll in the grass and the sun will bleach out most stains naturally. Do it two days if needed. That's the way we did it back in the 50s and 60s when linens were popular.
What fabulous finds! Can't wait to see when you unpack and see everything , and when you get pieces cleaned up how they turned out, how you display and style everything. You are so much fun to go shopping with and I'm amazed at the scores of amazing prices!
I think the metal cat was a cookie mold. Also the Delft creamer is a modern reproduction. It’s still Delft made in the Netherlands but it has the modern stamp on the bottom.
Rust: I'm a professional gardener and I cover and soak my rusty pruners in regular kitchen white vinegar. Removes or softens rust in anywhere from 10-45 minutes. Then I use extra fine steel wool to remove the remains. A non-marring scrubber might work. May not be the best idea for antiques though. If you have a cheap piece of decorative rusted cast iron, I'd give it a try. I know the pros use some form of electrified soak which you can do at home with the right setup. Several UA-cam videos on it. Search for cast iron pan restoration. Might be a good setup for you to get as a pro thrifter though. Me...I wouldn't hesitate to try the vinegar method on something decorative an inexpensive and follow up with an oven + oil cure.
Wow that was a lot to take in that big store I could have stayed all day right there you picked some amazing things I enjoyed very much coming along waiting for reveal video 🎉
I just cleaned a brass rivet that had been rusted for years. It was so satisfying I used vinegar and baking soda. Let it soak and flaked off the rust it is now beautiful. I wish I had before and after

It’s so hard for me when you pick up something I really love. That Chinese teapot with leaves on it…..oh my! I am screaming…buy it …buy it! But sadly…you don’t hear me! 😂
I love those brass candle holders so much , I would have wrapped them and ducked taped on top of my Suv ,deadheading home !!!!
I’m always so excited when you post a new video! And after all the fun of watching you shop, there is the decorating reveals! Better than Christmas!
LAURA FOR NOT HAVING ENOUGH SPACE YOU SURE BOUGHT ALOT OF THINGS AND SUCH BEAUTIFUL THINGS ❤😃🥰🦋🦋🦋🌻🌻🌻🐝
A friend of mine I work with has the same style of folding table with the brass top. She inherited it from her mom and also some beautiful scarves and throws. Oh and a gorgeous tea set. So gorgeous!
The round wood thing is an old jeweler’s (watch maker) Punch tool stand
So many fabulous finds!
Thank you Laura for taking us to a new location. Great finds
The tall jar, picture you passed on, I don’t think I could have left it! I love it!
I love those two pieces you’re holding in the thumb nail. The horse and the bronze antlers. I need them.
Oh Laura!! What beautiful things you found! The poppy painting and that gorgeous flatware are my very favorite!!
Enjoy all your treasures! 💕
Perfect timing for this video. I went thrifting today, and I score a set of 2 MCM Mica Shades Italian ceramic lamps. I paid less than $30can for them.
The hauls u take home r just fabulous! U hv a great eye for detail n unique pieces. Ur my kinda person.
oh my Laura so many beautiful things, what a great adventure. ty as always for sharing.
Bravo Laura! You gave us a big chunk of your thrift journey this time. It was worth the wait😊. Loved all your finds😍
Laura, you find the best thrifts! And have such a good eye for decoring your home with just the right pieces and accessories.
The yellow and blue vase reminds me of the pair of yellow and blue/turquoise vases I ought in Rome!
The last store ❤❤❤
37:12 too bad the Schiaparelli scarf was so damaged!😢
Oh Laura!! I’m hoping you got the Schiaparelli scarf!
I scored 2 Emilio Pucci cotton scarfs at an estate sale for 25cents each!
It was ripped.
@@d.c.7285 oh nooooo! Thanks for the reply
Osofo, available at Ace Hardware in the south, neutralizes rust and turns it to powder you can brush off.
Laura, this was so much fun to watch. You really inspire and educate me on what to look out for. Love your videos.
I want those hanging lamps. I loved them!!!! You are gonna have to get a small cargo trailer. This haul was awesome!
Yes, a stone OR a vintage beautiful marble!
Great fun! You and my daughter would get along so well with you organizing and packing skills! Thanks for taking us along. ( I love myrtle wool, too! Not just because it’s beautiful, but also because it’s unique to our beloved Oregon!). 💚💚💚
Now thats a car load. 😅 Another fantastic video ! I can't wait to see what you do with all your items. 😊💖
The best way to get off rust (that I've ever tried) is hot sauce. So like Cholula or Tabasco ... that kind of thing. I think I used Tabasco and a small wire brush. I was trying to get rust off of my bike and it worked really well. It was covered in rust and I ended up getting enough rust off of it to where it was sellable.
amazing finds Laura! I think the cat is definitely an ash tray. Red oxide could treat and clean it up well!
Love the brass flatware! 😍
Wow! Really really good stuff! The hunt is so much fun.
Try Wink it melts the rust away! Its amazing❤
OMG all that artwork at 26:22! Wow!
Love shopping along with you, Laura. You found great treasures 😊
Please don't go so long without uploading a vid... I love your stuff toooooooooo much 😅💚💚💚
Wow that was a lot to take in that big store I could have stayed all day right there you picked some amazing things I enjoyed very much coming along waiting for reveal video 🎉
I just cleaned a brass rivet that had been rusted for years. It was so satisfying I used vinegar and baking soda. Let it soak and flaked off the rust it is now beautiful. I wish I had before and after
