Thanks to our growing Patreon community, we are able to aid the cost in the roof work done by Francis!
Patreon funding goes directly toward renovating the historical Chateau de Lesigny!
Special thanks to our dear Patrons: Andrea, Jesse, Bernadette, Theo, and Morgan for your outstanding support of this Beau Chateau!
You can help support our renovation projects by joining our Patreon Community and gain access to exclusive videos, updates and more!
Join us, Daphne and Ian, as we embark on our new chateau renovation projects! This week, Francis joins us to give Ian a crash course on climbing equipment to prepare him to clean the moat walls later this month. His crew mends a broken support beam and allows us to save on an otherwise costly replacement. We paint progress on our bathroom project and get a few surprise antique pieces delivered to the chateau. One was purchased and the other was gifted by a recent cinematography production!
Our "beau chateau" (The 500-year-old, Chateau De Lesigny), is located near Paris, France. Most of the structures around the chateau domain need a full restoration, so we are investing everything we have into making the property thrive! We are learning more about french culture and developing new skills along the way!
As a French/American UC Berkeley graduate in Agriculture (Daphne), and a U.S. Air Force Tactical Response Force Veteran/ Kinesiologist (Ian), we share a love for challenges and adventure. We have a long road ahead of us and we are excited to share the experience with you!
You can support our renovation projects by joining our Patreon Community, where you can also gain access to exclusive videos and behind the scene access with Daphne and Ian! All patron funding is used to renovate this historical French Chateau. Every patron is paramount to our chateau renovations and we thank you all tremendously!

I like Ian's suggestion of doing a few art tiles in key areas and finish the rest with filler then the decorative tiles will be special and the job will be done quickly.
Ian approves this message
I agree as it will make the pieces you do with the resin "pop" and be highlighted. 😊
I consider all the possibilities, and believe Ian’s suggestion to be the most appropriate, sound, and practical method…thank you for asking…
Yes I agree. I don’t think Daphne agrees but I think she knows Ian is right!
I agree with Ian!
I'm team lime! The resin comes off as too fiddly, let the stone shine. It is so chic all on its own!
If the tiles have to have anything done, i vote limestone filler option. Keep it as natural looking as you can. That is a beautiful merdian or chaise. The ceiling looks so much fresher with a coat of paint. Hugs to Archea.
I hate to be a wet blanket, but I like the limestone mortar to fill the voids. If it were a countertop or something closer to the eye then I'd go the extra mile with the resin and flowers.
Yes! But i am the designer that hates things like flowers in a stone….
I vote for this option as well. I am not a fan of the resin/epoxy trend that might be very passe in a few years.
I agree! Limestone mortar to fill the voids!
I agree too. Save your artistic time and talent for a project with more impact.
I also agree- I like the limestone filler. I think the epoxy is a trend that could look dated in a few years. From what I understand, the limestone filler is made with ground up limestone so the patches can look like it belongs.
The bathroom ceiling looks brand new! Nice work!
Thumbs up for Francis and his rare 1953 Panhard Dyna K Fourgonnette 🤩👍🇫🇷. The Méridienne is very attractive to the eyes, I can't wait to see the room it will fit in.
He just bought a classic Norton too! I told him to bring it by soon for a photo 👍
A lot of students in my class rode Nortons (1977!) in high school.
@@TheBeauChateau Wow, an old school Norton (Commando ?) ! Must be a cool ride😃🇬🇧
I love your relationship with Francis. Since your Papa can’t be there all the time Daphne, it is nice to have a wonderful experienced man in y’all’s corner. He really seems to have your best interest at heart. Watching him be so patient with you, Ian, was heartwarming! 💙
I vote to keep the dock old looking. Has a lot of character.
I'm on team limestone filler. I love natural stone, wood, etc. and those resins are so fake looking and feeling. I like the worn looking dock, it blends right in. The Spanish door is gorgeous! But the chaise lounge is GORGEOUS!!
I never knew that style of chaise longue was a meridienne; maybe it explains why I've had such a hard time finding one I like? (The fact that I live in Florida probably has a lot more to do with it, to be fair ...) I agree, though - between the door, the dock, and the *fabulous* color of the upholstery on that end piece, there were so many beautiful elements to this video! (And I'm also team limestone🙃)
I love the limestone filler…more natural. Ceiling looks amazing❤
You are so fortunat to have Francis and Benoit. That is how I envision Ian in 30 years
I like Ian's suggestion.
My goodness you have been busy. I thought the dock was so perfect as it was, it looked quite natural in the darkened, worn colours. Well done on all the work
As much as I enjoy the idea of flowers in the floor, I think the filler is going to look much classier. The patches of shiny epoxy might just look like odd stains once you see it from a distance. Save your energy (and probably money) for another resin project where you'll really be able to see it shine!
Limestone filler for it all gets my vote. Good work on the ceiling!
The meridianne is really really beautiful! So cool that that is your first purchase ❤. Always fun to watch Ian try to dress himself 😂
OMG, can you imagine a bride on that beautiful piece of furniture?
Definally the limestone mortar. Sorry if it goes against your idea, practically it makes total sence. Love your meridian seat, the colour is just gorgeous. ❤
I think the limestone filler looks really good👌🏼
Limestone filler, number 1 choice. The dock looks amazing, don't touch the finish, it suits the feel of the lake and will look amazing as it is for staging.
I like Ian’s solution of using decorated tiles where they will be seen and to do the rest of the tiles with the limestone mortar.
Recommend taking the tiles you’ve experimented with and lay in place on bathroom floor to evaluate. Can you even see flower petals from standing height? Does resin shiny finish look good against flatter limestone finish? Have you considered using a glitter / sparkle material in resin if you are using a clear or color matching the limestone instead? Nothing flashy but subtle. Be careful that you don’t end up with something that gives the effect of having little pieces of paper stuck on tile or water droplets on tile that never dry.
Oh and use duct tape on back to avoid runny mess and remove when finish has set.
Simply beautiful drone footage! That piece of furniture is exquisite ❤
Georgous meridian/fainting couch.
The painted ceiling looks so good!! FYI 100% a paint sprayer will make your lives easier! Especially on a ship lap ceilings like your new bathroom. I’ve got a little $40 one which works perfectly well. It’ll quickly paint all those grooves for you :)
After you spray the paint on, still roll or brush it on.
Ian cut his hair! Love y'all... keep going. Your videos are awesome!
Oh the roof work, I admire people who are not phased by heights. The guy was sitting on the ledge like a bird checking out new housing options. Thank you for sharing.
Love the Meridian!❤️❤️❤️
Ceiling looks gorgeous 😍
I like the lime only filler. The chaise lounge is gorgeous!
The Best way to get the Apoxy to stay is to seal the Back with Tape well past the holes that you want to fill. pour and let settle then remove the tape after the apoxy dries
I can’t believe we didn’t think of tape 😳👍
@@TheBeauChateau look up epoxy work, if that's the floor do it after it's laid
@@TheBeauChateau Blacktail Studio has a lot of great videos about working with resin when filling voids, building molds to keep the resin from flowing out completely, etc. He works with resin + wood, but I imagine a lot of the same principles would apply?
Since you won't have light coming through the stone, I don't think that the clear resin + flower petal look will be worth the effort. Plus, IDK how well resin will stand up to being stood upon? If the limestone filler looks fine, I'd go with that and would add more intentional wow elsewhere.
That said, I never got to see a finished version of the limestone + resin stones; you should do what moves you! Given the lack of light, though, someone else's idea of teensy flecks of gold leaf might be nice in areas where you know there'll be a lot of light hitting the floor?
If you do go for flower petals, though, be wary of using fresh ones. Even though there's no air inside the resin, they'll apparently still change color over time and may go rather brown. Dried petals will be a lot more stable.
I like filling in all the holes with lime filler to give a more cohesive look.
I love watching your visions come to life , The dock is perfect and the fire pit is great! You could make a prettier fire pit and do roasts like they did in medieval times. Remember this is your vision and people will come for the authentic love and effort you put into this Chateau not what looks clean. I mean it is already dreamy. I think a BBQ should be on the patios over the Moat. You will find many people love the raw feel of times gone by. I am sure many like myself love a big bonfire! Especially during the full moon. Thank you for sharing your adventure to a fairy tale home. I am so jelly. I have always wanted a Castle, or a Chateau with a Moat. But I can live vicariously through you beautiful people. Also so loving the Bathroom! Ian did a beautiful job as he does on everything. Well Done everyone working so hard on this Estate.
That chaise is OMG gorgeous! I like Ian's idea on the tiles too.
I just ran across your channel by accident and I think your Chateau is amazing. I’m an artist as well as a lover of history and beautiful architecture. Not only are your videos charming and entertaining, but I so appreciate the work you’re doing not only for your home but for the preservation of this historic and beautiful Chateau.
I’m subscribed and look forward to seeing your dream come to fruition. Your two are charming hosts, so keep up your hard work. I only wish I could afford to contribute to your efforts.
Currently binge watching and look forward to further videos.
Thank you for all you are doing!!
Thank you so much! That is very encouraging to hear 🥰 We have another video coming out today! 👍
@@TheBeauChateau I’ll be watching!!
I'm amazed how beautiful the grounds look. You deserve an award. Be practical with your bathroom floor, less time consuming and quick clean ups. But, with that being said, if you want to show your artistic side, by all means do you.
beautiful piece of furniture. sooooo french
The bathroom ceiling looks so good! Painting is my favorite home improvement project. And I may be the only one but I like the way the limestone filler looks. The stone is so pretty. But you do what you like best!
I like the mortar filled in with the limestone. The floor will be easier to clean and look more finished!
This is my favorite channel. You guys are so inspiring to see the beauty and hard work you pour into not only the chateau and property, but also your content as well.
The ceiling looks great!! I think I vote for Ian’s idea of filling the limestone with the filler and adding the resin to a few key areas. The crimson red furniture is beautiful and the photo of the sun streaming onto it is stunning. Congratulations on acquiring the dock and the beautiful door. xx
I vote Option 2, limestone filler for smaller wells and resin with flowers for larger wells in strategic places. Lots of work, though, and I applaud your efforts. This video is another entertainment masterpiece!
Another absolutely delightful video. Thank you so much for sharing your château renovations with us.
I've just watched Marie Antoinette and saw Chateaux Beau. What a wonderful and exciting feeling seeing it as I've been watching your channel from the start.
Georgia USA 🇺🇸
I would go with Ian's idea. Best of all of them. If you cannot see it, why bother? As for the meridian chaise and the Spanish door... Wow! Absolutely gorgeous. See you next week.
Francis is a gem!
Cover under side with tape. Painters tap works. Press it well to prevent leaks. Add sand then pour in your resins. Let dry. Enjoy.
The feinting couch will be so pop with the brides! Aren’t you glad you painted the bathroom ceiling before the tiles, walls, and fixtures were in place?
WOW!!! the méridienne❣️❣️❣️ and the red highlighted by the evening sun - just gorgeous❣️
One of my favorite chateau channels ❤
I love watching your videos!! 😍😍💕💕
Chaise lounge to die for ! STUNNING 😍
Smiles... your vlogs always make me smile. Thank you.🙏
You two beautiful young people are an inspiration and prove where there is a will there is a way. I love your humour and excellent video work. TY for sharing your experiences . Greetings from San Antonio, TX.
Fabulous vlog guys! I like the lime filler without the resin, but I did like the suggestion of adding gold flakes in resin…only if you have other gold accents throughout the room. I think the irredescent flakes would be too foo-foo. The ceiling looks amazing!! I’m so impressed!
I love the beautiful red lounge, so beautiful. I don't know how you will be able to keep the white fur off the lounge, I know all about hair we have 2 cats. You have such a beautiful Chateau, you are so blessed to live there. Hugs, Kathy USA 🇺🇸
Oooh ! Cette superbe méridienne d’un velours rouge profond 😍 !!
Tres joli peinture du plafond de la salle de bain ! Ça change!
À bientôt !
🌸🌸🌸
Oh I hope you keep the dock the way it is now. Rustic next to that water looks so romantic and pretty.
fosus on using the Limestone filler long term it will be easier to maintain, the resin will yellow quite a bit and could also go cloudy
Well, since you asked, I would put limestone filler at the bottom of all the holes so they no longer leak, THEN fill them with epoxy - and instead of flower petals (which will turn brown with age, even if they are in epoxy), put flakes of gold leaf, or else flakes of that holographic film that you can scarcely see but makes a slight rainbow colour... But that's just what I would do... Another lovely video by the way, and I am so jealous of all you achieve in your renovations: I've been working for 20 years on my place, and all that's happening is I'm getting older and weaker, and the renovations I started 20 years ago are not as nice and new as they were at first. It's good you're young and can encourage each other to keep going. kindest regards, k
I like Ian’s hair cut. Looks good👍😄❤️
That furniture piece (meridian?) is stunning!! So happy for you!!
Thank you 😊
I like Ians suggestion best...beautiful dog ❤
I'm with Ian on the tiles
I love the old look of the boat dock. I think a new one would stick out too much.
LOVE the antique sofa!!! The color is majestic!!!
Keep the dock the way it is and I’d leave the fire pit too. It’s a rustic look 😉
Meridian (sp?) Is stunning.....love the aged look of the dock. As for the floors, I like the idea of highlight sections and KISS for the rest. It will make those areas that much more noticeable and special. Another wonderful video, and let us know the film when you can so we can go watch it! 😊
Just found your channel and have got half way through this video, but I’m know going back to your first video and will do one big binge to catch up!!!!
That lounge, oh my God! So fabulous! Good choice! Red is my favorite color👏♥️
I’d suggest grout for the depressions in the tiles - this is what manufacturers use when they hone and file tiles of this type.
On the limestone, YES what Ian said!
That chaise is just gorgeous!! So beautiful. I vote lime filler. Let the flooring disappear and highlight other things. Don't make it a focal. Nice vlog.
Ditch the flower petals in resin. No one is going to see them and it might look like there's been an accidental spill on the floor. Maybe use that idea just for the backsplash area behind the sink where people can see the details more easily. My 2 cents!
The painted ceiling looks great. The meridian is stunning.❤
Thank you! We are excited about both of them!
Beautiful job with the bathroom ceiling paint. That's a gorgeous chaise!
Another lovely and fun video from you Ian and Daphne…❤ from the Philippines 🇵🇭!
Your content is so proper for audiences and the delight you show in each project is heartwarming. I wish I was there with you guys. I really like this channel. More please.....
Thank you! That is very encouraging to hear 😊
Agreed! You are so sweet together ~ it’s truly heartwarming ❤
It's great you were able to sister the support beam! Great episode! The bathroom ceiling is lovely. The red piece of furniture is divine. Yes to a bonfire then a tidy up of the fireplace area. The door and dock left by the film crew are awesome!
Very beautiful first piece ...love the deep red. Thanks for sharing.
I love the shot you took in the early part of the vid showing the lawns and the chateau , beautiful. ( 33secs) so smooth and misty .
Thanks! Ian loves flying his drones at golden hour 🤓
I believe Archea needs a lesson or two about stranger danger!!!
Progress, little by little.
I always worry that resin is going to turn yellow and look dirty. I don’t think resin will hold up.
Oh, I do hope you leave the dock old looking and unique.
Always a great video with the two of you and Francis! I have missed you. I do love the vehicle Francis drives. Roof work scares the heck out of me. The bathroom ceiling looks fabulous. Well done!
As always, beautiful! What a wonderful car Ian has! Have a super week! I can't wait to see more!
Looking great! Watching more ads to give a drop off help on roof repairs 😊
Keep simple with limestone all over. Add color with towels.
I love your meridian chair, which is so beautiful and the perfect color.
I like the limestone filler. And small bit of resin and flower
Okay found your awesome channel just three days ago and i have binged watched them all to get caught up , I LOVE LOVE LOVE each one , you are both refreshing and funny , and your perfect for this very thing , thank you for allowing this semi older ole woman in Missouri USA to join you , the beauty is off the charts music is perfect , oh and the resin is my favorite not so much the flowers .
Incredible videography!!
Love how your bathroom ceiling turned out!
I think a few highlighted areas in the floor would be beautiful. So cool that you were left with some “props”!!
Love from Mary in Southern California 💗
I always enjoy your channel. I would leave the new dock as is; the old and weathered look is in keeping with a historic property.
I think I agree with Ian about just doing the occasional tile with the flowers etc. It makes the more unique! I also LOVE you new Chaise Longue...it's stunning and what a great colour. So romantic! 🥰🤗💖
Fill the holes with grout while you finish the tile joints. I like the idea of using the occasional epoxy with floral however consider using something simple throughout like a fern leaf that has a consistent pattern.
I been watching your videos and I am a new subscriber!! I really enjoy all the video footage or cinematography. I don’t know what you call it… but it so calming and enjoyable!! Even makes me want to get up and fix things around my own house…and that is nothing short of a miracle 🤣🤣🤣 thank you!!
Omg…love love love your first furniture purchase! Gorgeous ❤
Love everything you do and your personality’s are so cute! What a wonderful gift the door is so perfect!
Use a wooden back (make it like a whole box, not just a plank) and use wax to cover the wood, so the resin doesn't stick to it, THEN fill the holes. You can use a plank (again covered with wax) but then you need to cover the edges of the plank backing with really strong adhesive tape.
