Khalid Summerfield you never notice bezels when you're using the phone. The battery is pretty legit, I am a semi-heavy user and I don't charge every day. And if you do need to charge, it's always done in about 45 minutes from >10%
I went with the Pixel 2 after having used a iPhone 6+. While I liked the bigger size and longer battery life, I didn't like the bulkiness of the phone. I like a small phone that fits in the pocket. I saw that the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL had the same hardware specs other than screen size, so I went with the Pixel 2. I glad I did, for I noticed the XL is having some screen issues (which I'm sure Google will iron out, but it's still a hassle for people who already own the phone. So far I love this phone, for the camera is great, the Android OS is fast and Google doesn't put on bloatware that most other phone companies do. I personally think face recognition is not perfected yet and it should be funny seeing people looking into the iPhone X phones, but don't get me wrong iPhones are still good phones. It's just a personal choice of what kind of phone features that one is looking for.
I prefer a smaller phone, so I'm most likely going to get the Pixel 2. Coming from a Nexus 5X that bootlooped last month (and replaced by Google), being made by HTC instead of LG (XL2) is a bonus.
You were Wondering - The price jump was do to it being a 2k display, bigger screen and bigger battery. And you are right they should have went with HTC all the way but Google is trying to break away from Samsung (owns 95% marketshare on OLED mobile screens) with it's screens. Same thing with apple but LG (nice TV's) is dropping the ball.
Thanks for making this video. The 2 XL has gotten all of the attention so it's nice to see a comparison with the smaller option. AND it's good to see a reviewer consider the hand fit. Smaller phones fit human hands better... I'll take that over a larger 2:1 bezelless display.
I had to pixel 2 XL for exactly two weeks and I returned it for the pixel 2. I could not be happier for my decision to do that! The screen is so much better and colors are much more vibrant.
I suggest the pixel 2. For one, its cheaper. Second, the user interface is much “cleaner”. And third, the bezels aren’t THAT bad. Most iPhone devices have bezels which no one seemed to care about.
I have the Pixel 2 and love it. I reckon I would be happy with either phone but the larger phone is $320 more expensive here and I'm not paying $1400 AUD for a phone. Not this year anyway. And the larger phone wasn't in stock so my choice was easy.
Shoaib Ahmed it will last all day for me with around 5 hours screen on time outdoors on 4G. Indoors on WiFi it will last all day with around 8 hours screen on time. It can go for 2 days with less screen on time but that's not my normal usage.
I'm just thankful that Google opted to spec the 2 the same as the XL. I love smaller devices and hated always sacrificing specs. Pixel series has solved that. Hope they keep it up.
Mr. PoopyButthole my last device was the iPhone 6s plus 5,5'. I love the smaller display of the pixel2. With Android 8.0 Oreo it's the perfect combo. And the display has issues 😜😜. Normally I'm a pure Apple user and I bought only iPhones since the 3G. The pixel2 is my first Android device ever. It could not be better. 😜😍😃
Heinrich Hoffmann ok good to know i kinda understand the bezeless trend but i think they should release a one-hande usable device besides the s8 all other 18:9 devices are just too big in my opinion, not that i can not use them but i prefer onehanded use..
Had Pixel 2 and now have 2 xl. I have noticed that the 2 xl stutters when scrolling web pages. It looks great and the bigger screen is welcome but the 2 feels better made and screen is also superior. The screen on 2 xl can also be unresponsive at times. 2 xl feels a bit plasticey and a bit like a Fisher Price toy! It is a cool phone though.
I wanted to get the smaller 3a, but weirdly enough, the 3a XL was selling at a lower price than the 3a in my area at the time. Needless to say I got the XL 😂 This is my first big phone, ever. I always buy the smaller version. Love how comfortable my S9 feels in the hand. Even my OnePlus 3.
I have no regrets getting the Pixel 2 rather than the Pixel 2 XL. The Pixel 2 XL has tok many issues that it completely discouraged me from getting it. I'm enjoying the battery life and performance of the Pixel 2, even if it's a 3 year old phone refurbished phone I got from Back Market in mint condition.
I always wish that when comparisons like this are done people at least use the same wallpaper. Small nit, but it's picked. For me, I would prefer an HTC built phone over LG - I don't mind the bezels (have Pixel 1) - and I prefer a smaller form-factor, but that battery would likely convince to go for the XL alone.
The smaller one is just so nice to use. I have large hands but think the pixel 2 is the perfect size. If only the screen was larger, closer to that of the iPhone (which is similar in size and dimension to the p2) it would be my phone of the year.
I guess people like the pixel because of the screen size. They both have the same features its just a bigger screen size. But if they both have the same functions why is it a big deal. Save some money and get the small phone. Plus i am coming from an samsung galaxy core prime to this phone. Its a big diffrence for me hahah lol
Got the pixel 2 xl and had nothing but issues with the screen! Switched to the regular pixel 2 and have fallen in love! Ya it's smaller but in my opinion works much better for me! Great phone and great video!
Jacob Totten I'm thinking about switching to the pixel 2 as well. I have the pixel 2 XL and I'm kind of wondering about its resale value in the future. I'm primarily wondering about this because of no wireless charging; however, it does not have the memory leak problems or whatever slows down the Samsungs, which is why I got it instead of us Samsung S9 Plus.
Damn , up to you which one you prefer . What a conclusion People want a larger screen but in a small package . If you hv a larger screen , the phone has to be larger . But some comparison (not here , but elsewhere ) will classify larger phone as negative , at the same time classify larger screen as positive , does this make sense ? You hv 1 point added for having a larger screen ,. And one point deducted for having a larger phone .
There's a big up to 50% off deal that Verizon's having (but the trade-in only works if you have a smartphone as old as 2 years), which might explain why the demand for it is high now. It sucks too, because I really want the Pixel 2 Kinda Blue model.... :(
I have an iPhone 6 and the upgrade is so overdue. But I got my Apple Watch series 2 last year and still loving it. I guess my choice is Apple Watch or Pixel 2... >"
Umm.. there's no such thing as a future proof design. Why is everyone still salivating over the bezeless crap? It's like if a phone has bezels, it's now considered a flaw or some shit smh...
Yes, it's also a phone from 2012 - 2015 apparently, despite the fact that even the first bezeless phone was released late 2016 and all the others (which aren't even *that* many to begin with) all appeared in 2017. But hey, you can't fix stupid, so there's that...
I find that the reason why phones are crazy expensive is because of the more effort that is put into these bezeless designs and really stupid aspect ratios.
is the display on the smaller one really better ?? to me the XL looked more realistic as far as color goes. not sure if this could be some other settings but I looked at color and both were set to neutral smaller one had red tint to it, and when I compared to same photo to my Lumina 950xl, the closer match was XL I mean, maybe better/nicer is a different thing, but what felt realistic to me was the XL
QUESTION! S8 Wi-Fi download speed test slower than iPhone5. Tried on 2 s8's and s8+. They're all dual SIM. I can't find people with the same problem online. I'm thinking it's because most people who do tests and post online are people from regions where they only have single SIM. Any thoughts can someone try with an s8 single sim vs s8 dual SIM? Thanks.
I'm having a problem with my Pixel XL 2, can you see if yours does this I haven't seen anyone report on this yet... When I Facebook and you come across a meme but it's a video one, when tapping on the picture it disappears!!! Can you confirm this please and if not do you have a possible fix to this??
LeGoogle Chrome no doubt, won't argue with you about that. But I can live with it. It really doesn't take away from the user experience. No burn-in's either on my device. But even if the burn-ins appear. Probably won't notice it. I didn't with the original Pixel XL. Didn't even know, until someone said the original Pixel XL had burn-in's.
Yeah but web pages and Google now are white. Do you really not notice it? Its the one thing holding me back, the display models in the store irritated me.
Why is everyone so up in arms about bezels. If you're used to the bezels before the major companies went to near bezel-less screens, then there shouldn't be an issue with just the Pixel 2. The only time I would say that bigger bezels would be an issue would be if your first phone happens to be one of the near bezel-less phones. But let's be real, those people who have bezel-less phone as their first phone are rather young, let's say born after 2006. As a person born in the 90's, I grew up with phones that had huge bezels and I was content with that. Don't let all of the hype about bezel-less phone make up your decision, use common sense and logic to determine what a "good" phone is to you.
Emma Kudos You can use the phone with any carrier if you buy it unlocked. If you buy from Verizon, technically the same is true, but if you leave them I think the balance of the phone is due.
No water resistance is a bummer. I always use headphones with my phone so speakers don't matter for myself, at least they confirmed it has a headphone jack. Debating the 5T, Pixel 2XL or V30.
The only real problem with the small Pixel is the high-pitch noise which is loudest when you actually take a call (!) . This has been happening to too many people, if you've been following the product forums or reddit.
Pierre Marcelin I just went on the product forums. People posted today that the update helped with the NFC clicking noise, but the high pitch noise is still there for some.
MrrQuackers You're welcome. When it comes to mobile games by the way, I think monument valley 2 launched yesterday. That's the sequel to the game they used to showcase the Nexus 6. It's really really good, but it does cost a few bucks. Just a random recommendation.
Got the smaller pixel ..I love it .. no regrets
Max-tremayne James How is the battery? Does the bezels annoy you?
Max-tremayne James same
Khalid Summerfield you never notice bezels when you're using the phone. The battery is pretty legit, I am a semi-heavy user and I don't charge every day. And if you do need to charge, it's always done in about 45 minutes from >10%
Max-tremayne James I have it too 😀
I am still using pixel 2 as my daily driver
I went with the Pixel 2 after having used a iPhone 6+. While I liked the bigger size and longer battery life, I didn't like the bulkiness of the phone. I like a small phone that fits in the pocket. I saw that the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL had the same hardware specs other than screen size, so I went with the Pixel 2. John Pepp the xl also has a 4K screen instead of the 1080p screen of the smaller Pixel.
I'm using the 6+ also and I'm going to buy the pixel 2 (not XL) also! I totally agree with you 100%
I prefer a smaller phone, so I'm most likely going to get the Pixel 2. Coming from a Nexus 5X that bootlooped last month (and replaced by Google), being made by HTC instead of LG (XL2) is a bonus.

I went from an iPhone 6s Plus to the smaller Google Pixel 2. Props to one handed devices that actually fit in my pocket!
I really loving my pixel 2. The screen is sharp and the camera well the best for sure!
A google phone is not gonna impress you by just looking at it' but once you use them you will be blown away...
I had to pixel 2 XL for exactly two weeks and I returned it for the pixel 2. I could not be happier for my decision to do that! The screen is so much better and colors are much more vibrant.
"Which should you buy?" >> Personal preference >> buy what you like. If I want this why did I watch the video?
I got the regular pixel 2, like the small form factor as it fits nicely in my pocket
I suggest the pixel 2. For one, its cheaper. Second, the user interface is much “cleaner”. And third, the bezels aren’t THAT bad. Most iPhone devices have bezels which no one seemed to care about.
Will someone please make a small bezel phone with >5.5" display?
Ever heard of the Samsung Galaxy S8?
True. I want the same. Seems like Sony xz2 compact might be your phone.
Pixel 3
It was just leaked lol
I have the little Pixel 2 🙂
Cakefish excellent choice!! Everyone keeps talking bezel this, bezel that. Everyone just needs a phone that works for their needs
Random question, how's your battery life?
I got the XL but I wouldn’t mind using the 5” version since its easier for one hand use. The bezels are not disturbing at all
How's the battery life?
Battery life on the pixel 2 is great, haven't had any issues, although I'm sure it's longer on the XL
I have the Pixel 2 and love it. I reckon I would be happy with either phone but the larger phone is $320 more expensive here and I'm not paying $1400 AUD for a phone. Not this year anyway. And the larger phone wasn't in stock so my choice was easy.
Geoff Fieldew how long does the battery last on an average day?
Shoaib Ahmed it will last all day for me with around 5 hours screen on time outdoors on 4G. Indoors on WiFi it will last all day with around 8 hours screen on time. It can go for 2 days with less screen on time but that's not my normal usage.
Geoff Fieldew and i suppose no complains as of yet regarding the phone?
Shoaib Ahmed just a couple of misbehaving apps early on because of incompatibilities with the new version of Android but it's running perfectly now.
Geoff Fieldew what level do you keep your screen’s brightness on?
Bigger is always better 😉 Ordered a Pixel2 XL yesterday.
I'm just thankful that Google opted to spec the 2 the same as the XL. I love smaller devices and hated always sacrificing specs. Pixel series has solved that. Hope they keep it up.
Nice review! Sweet point on the pocket-size of the smaller véion!
now i know what i want. Thank you so much. I’ll go for small white one🤗🤗
Me too!
I got a pixel 2 and I am happy with my decision
I've choosed the pixel 2 and I'm so happy with it!!!!
Heinrich Hoffmann did u come from a bigger device and miss the bigger display or is it fine for social media and watching videos?
Mr. PoopyButthole my last device was the iPhone 6s plus 5,5'. I love the smaller display of the pixel2. With Android 8.0 Oreo it's the perfect combo. And the display has issues 😜😜. Mr. PoopyButthole give em a chance. After 1 day of usage i saw no besseles anymore. 😜
Heinrich Hoffmann the bezels are no dealbreaker for me but i like the design of v30, s8 and so on
Im just happy the smaller one has the same internals. Pixel 2 is just as beast and you can save some dollars.
I'm rocking the regular so far love it 😁
Love your videos, man...too freaking good!!!
Great crisp shots!
Pixel 2 XL.
I suggest doing the update with your XL2. There’ll be a saturated color option, that’ll fix all your display concerns.
Got the Pixel 2 XL and I'm in love with this phone.
I wanted to get the smaller 3a, but weirdly enough, the 3a XL was selling at a lower price than the 3a in my area at the time. Needless to say I got the XL 😂

You can use the finger print scanner to bring down notifications you don't need to hold your phone in a special way just to reach the top
I always wish that when comparisons like this are done people at least use the same wallpaper. Small nit, but it's picked. also come on it's Google go America. Google is an American company and therefore has the home-field advantage. better support and everything.
yes I do know that the pixel 2 XL's screen is made by LG and the pixels 2's screen is made by Samsung, which both are South Korean companies.
Damn , up to you which one you prefer . What a conclusion

Pixel 2 xl for sure
Those waves in the screen of the pixel 2 are so annoying it will make you hate the phone
Dude that wallpaper on the xl is awesome where did u get it from?
I love my Pixel 2. I really do wish I got the XL instead but absolutely not for almost $1000. I'd spent at most $800 for it after tax.
I have smaller pixel 2 and display is warmer, have you noticed this warmer tone on your pixel 2(not xl)?
Pixel 2 64G is just out of stock! Seriously?
There's a big up to 50% off deal that Verizon's having (but the trade-in only works if you have a smartphone as old as 2 years), which might explain why the demand for it is high now.
It sucks too, because I really want the Pixel 2 Kinda Blue model.... :(
Did anyone one avail last week’s promo from Target (Verizon)? $300 off all Pixel 2 + $250 Target gift card. I got a panda pixel 2 XL
Neither. Don't waste your money on overpriced phones with no features and horrible quality control issues.
I have an iPhone 6 and the upgrade is so overdue. But I got my Apple Watch series 2 last year and still loving it. I guess my choice is Apple Watch or Pixel 2... >"

Smaller pixel 2 or the note 8?
While I really like the not 8 looks, I think I like the google interface more, and the constant updates?
Good review. How is battery life on the Pixel 2?
Pixel 2 owners on reddit are satisfied with the battery life.
is the display on the smaller one really better ?? to me the XL looked more realistic as far as color goes. not sure if this could be some other settings but I looked at color and both were set to neutral
smaller one had red tint to it, and when I compared to same photo to my Lumina 950xl, the closer match was XL
I mean, maybe better/nicer is a different thing, but what felt realistic to me was the XL
I can park my car on those bezels.
You should use light wallpapers for both.
Got the pixel 2 with no regrets and you don't once your looking at the phone you don't even notice the bezels.
bro why does that pixel 2 look so bad now I remember it looked nice and slick when it first came out
WHY does the camera not have a square mode!?!?!?!? I NEED this for my business to post images to Etsy and Social media. This makes me so SAD!
LG messes phones up. Don't be fooled though I like the saturation update. Get the pixel 2 or note 8
pixel 2 XL for me
Google why did you have to leave so big top and bottom bezel??? I could never understand why. It's even bigger than my Nexus 6P's...
Correction a lot of people who spend time watching tech reviews and doing tech reviews are turned off by the bezels.
I'm so conflicted about which of these to buy... have the colour gamut issues on the xl been made better recently?
XL. Don't need to watch the video to answer that one.
I hate how that phone is Verizon exclusive 😩 if it was on every network it would be the most popular phone!
With all the errors, none of them! Maybe when the final edition comes out.
what is that cool game shown at 1:51 ???
How did you get that calendar widget
Choose the Moto G5S Plus. You'll save a lot of money and also be more than happy. Invest the money somewhere else useful.
is pixel 2's bazels bigger than any other normal phone or it's just me
oh hey, it's zach!
How is the update on the Pixel treating the screen?
I really want one but, in australia they both cost more than the iPhone X
0:44 what calendar widget that you use on that video ?
Thanks.
I'm just gonna get the pixel 2 that's the one I want.
I'm having a problem with my Pixel XL 2, can you see if yours does this I haven't seen anyone report on this yet... When I Facebook and you come across a meme but it's a video one, when tapping on the picture it disappears!!! Can you confirm this please and if not do you have a possible fix to this??
Isn't this obvious - depends on what screen size you want.
Why not both?
Got the pixel 2, Happy!!!
Do you have the clicking or high pitch sound?
Yeah, but i think it's fixed in the update
Actually the high frequency sound is still there
When do you hear it? Only during calls?
Yeah at random calls
Both camera is same?? 100% same?
Could anyone tell me how different the back of the Just Black and the Black & White feel?
The one without the weak screen
Razer phone or pixel 2 xl
1:50 which game ??
Pratik Chandlekar Polyforge
Pratik Chandlekar Roblox
Pixel 2 XL, the "screen issues", are overblown. The blue tint is barely noticed day to day (only seen on a light background), and fuk over saturation!
Erik Graul Word!!
True but for that price and with LGs experience with displays I personally expect near perfection
Soon Google is rolling out an update for all those issues
Yeah but web pages and Google now are white. Do you really not notice it? Its the one thing holding me back, the display models in the store irritated me.
1st....Btw i Suggest pixel 2 xl
That bezzle wtf

Pixel 2 has a better screen made by Samsung xl is made by lg
Tiger Gray htc not samsung
anguy bezels literally defines the smartphone market rn...
Anybody know the name of this game? 1:49
Can u only use Verizon on the Pixel? Bc I have T-Mobile, I don’t want to change my data plan and I really want the pixel, is it possible to have both?
Emma Kudos You can use the phone with any carrier if you buy it unlocked. If you buy from Verizon, technically the same is true, but if you leave them I think the balance of the phone is due.
I hope google make a budget phones
Jayron Paul Pabalate get a BlackBerry.
Absolutely XL
Where is the iPhone X?
Smaller one also has better speakers
Xl of course
Waiting for the OnePlus 5T announcement on the 16th.
Luke Hero
Yeah, but for sure it won't have water resistance or dual speakers - two very important features imo.
No water resistance is a bummer. I always use headphones with my phone so speakers don't matter for myself, at least they confirmed it has a headphone jack. Debating the 5T, Pixel 2XL or V30.
Should I buy pixel 2 or one plus 5t... Please help
My wallet will tell me, he always do.
where did he get that dark theme for the xl?
Marc Manalo The Launcher will adapt the theme if you use a really dark wallpaper to a dark one, Shame it's only automatic and not user adjustable.
I really want the wallpaper on the pixel, care to share a Link?
forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74142755&postcount=608
The only difrent is the design google just want you to spent extra $200
The only real problem with the small Pixel is the high-pitch noise which is loudest when you actually take a call (!) . This has been happening to too many people, if you've been following the product forums or reddit.
noirdez667 they fixed it already.
Pierre Marcelin I just went on the product forums. People posted today that the update helped with the NFC clicking noise, but the high pitch noise is still there for some.
They promised to fix it with the December update, but did not. I still have very bad static and hissing during calls.
Lie
Smaller one
I like the little one.
Those hundred dollars are thousands in my currency so nop , I am cool 😎
What game is at 1:53? Thank you in advance!
MrrQuackers Polyforge I heard someone say.
Thank you so much!
MrrQuackers You're welcome. When it comes to mobile games by the way, I think monument valley 2 launched yesterday. That's the sequel to the game they used to showcase the Nexus 6. It's really really good, but it does cost a few bucks. Just a random recommendation.
