Ford F-150 Catalytic Converter Replacement High Flow Downpipe (2011+)

- In this video, I show the steps and procedures necessary to replace both catalytic converter‘s in a 2011 and newer Ford F150. This truck we’re working on today is a 2015 Ford F150 King Ranch four-wheel-drive. this truck has the original exhaust system in it and & It has the 3.5 L eco-boost engine with about 170,000 miles. CODE p0430 is stored in the ecu. you may experience p0420. The same steps can be taken on other engines as well such as the 5.0 L and a 2.7 L eco-boost engine. We decided to go with aftermarket catalytic converter‘s due to the cost of replacing the catalytic converter‘s with a Ford OEM part. I highly recommend the company that we chose to buy the parts from. SPD Performance, they make great exhaust systems for these FORD trucks. Links for parts and tools I used during this video are below. Thank you for watching

The great thing about catalytic jobs is just park in certain areas and someone will do the removal job for free.
😂.
100% agree
Why do they say the installation is free? can you help me explain? I need to change them, thanks
😆 🤣 😂
Lmfao literally the best comment on UA-cam
That truck has never seen salt. Good vid...talked me out of doing it. Ain't screwing around without a lift.
Thank you for explaining all the socket sizes along the way great job
Thanks Aaron for doing all these videos! I just did this Catalytic Converter replacement job and followed your instructions. Extremely helpful! I even used the same part from SPD Performance, so it was super easy to follow along.
Great video……very informative and easy to understand.
Thank You, mine was cut and stolen, I'm going back this way!!
Life from Akron Ohio by chance you remember which side of the truck the larger catalytic converter was on when putting mine back together was wanting to know what side the 12 and a half and not the 14 and a half inch pipe goes nothing is safe on the south side of Akron good old Kenmore too many meth heads with sawzall's
@@ryanreagan6073 Longer one was drivers side. This kit was AWESOME! I replaced all O2 sensors while doing this and was very pleased. Easy for anyone who can turn a wrench.
thank you thank you… i was wondering in all these similar videos…why they removed the crossbrace, driveshaft, etc, etc… i’m in the process and i cut my old pipes to get them out. which is what you explain is an option. i really didn’t want to do all that extra stuff and now i know i wont need to either. 👍
Great video! Thanks for sharing
Excellent job and vid!
Great video
Wow, awesome video.
I got as far as trying to remove the nuts/bolts that hold the pipe to the turbo exhaust. They were not going to come off. That was a few years ago.
Thanks for the video! I see that you cut your index finger ouch!!
Can replacing regular cats with high flow cats make my ecoboost run less hot while towing? I keep getting too hot towing up hills.
This project will more than likely be in my future... 2017 2.7 F150 and drivers side cat stinks up my garage/parking lot if I let it idle for more than a minute or two.... no check engine lights or anything yet, and performance is still there.... so not sure. Just waiting it out for now.
Pro.
How are the Cat’s holding up? Thinking about purchasing but I’m curious if you had any issues since installed.
Thanks
Also curious!
Ditto
Same
That cat’s are holding up good. Definitely much better option than OEM Ford. Keep in mind, the pipes are slightly larger which is an added bonus for heat dispersement and performance. And the turbo’s sound a little better too.
@@MicfromNJany increase in mpg?
Code: P 430 is bank 1 which is the passenger side ( R )of your truck. P 420 is bank 2 , Driver side.
I would have to respectfully disagree. According to a scan at my local O'Reilly's auto shop, p0420 is bank 1 and confirming with my manual that is the passenger and bank 2 is driver side
Last year I replaced the cat on the passenger side because of the code. It came back after a few months. Now I got the code for both sides. I took it to the exhaust shop for a new cat and they told me it's probably my turbos. Any advice?
Do you have any videos of what it sounds like inside? I have the same code and need to do this and I don't want anything too loud and definitely not a drone sound.
Thanks
Can i straight pipe only the passenger side and leave the drivers side stock?
2015 Mustang GT
Doing the same install on my 2016. Can not for the life of me get the Y pipe hooked to the right hand cat. Any tips? Watched your video a dozen times to see the trick. It won’t line up correctly. Had all assembled so I know it fits. Just can’t figure out the geometry.
I just got my left catalytic converter replaced and I’m experiencing a loss of torque for my Truck. Is this normal?
only one complaint. you didn't show the clamps being done. or explain the torque spec or anything like that.
Possible to clean them out by removing them and dumping some laquer thinner in it?
Did you replace the turbo/downpipe joint gasket and turbo/downpipe bolts for this project? In your f150 turbo replacement video you did. Was just wondering if replacement is necessary just for turbo replacement or if anytime that joint is removed.
I was wondering the same thing.
Just checked out a 2014 w coyote today, passenger side had a drip, I'm assuming it's a week hole from the cat or muffler, other side didn't leak tho, had 200,000 mi. Any thoughts? Thanks...going back Monday to really look it over, has great service record, was a lease/commercial
Did it fix your problem or did the light come back on
would this work with a black ford f150????
Definitely not bud this is only for white f150 platinum 🤷🏼♂️
Is it just me or did the turbos get incredibly louder at idle?
Nice 👌
Did you have any problems with the spd catted down pipes after install like any new codes ?
did you have any leakage after installing the new ones?
So doing this will pass smog??
Hey Buddy...can't figure out how to message except here. Udaman, just did lower control arms on my Titan after watching your vid. Having an issue with my Raptor overheat, or is it?
Did it fix it.
Are those headlights are original or aftermarket? Mine dont looks like that😢 0:01
They are original,
Mines have them
If only my cats busted, and I could tell my ol lady I needed an upgrade
Well if it helps SPD claims you’ll get better miles per gallon. And with gas prices these days any bit helps
@@AaronHinesAuto my only concern is whether the SPD is California legal. Great video
Anybody know the other torque specs?
Anyone else have codes coming up
Man I need a Lift , Im on the ground 🙄
No welding
They are sold out
Glad I'm not a Grease monkey. That's alot of werk. I'm sure manufacturer's could design it to plug and play style.
Did you experience any exhaust leaks after installing the new system? I just installed magnaflow cats / system on my 2015 eco post and it seems to be leaking somewhere. I found a leak where the driver side is band clamped to the center pipe so I put a 2nd band clamp on there but that did not seem to fix the issue…
Do you have any videos of you magnaflow hiflo cats? I need to replace my cats and don't want anything too loud or a drone sound.
Thanks
Aaron, are you available for hire or to help fix a vehicle? I’m local to Phoenix area
Catless downpipes and you still left the muffler on 🤦🏻♂️
Wasn’t my truck. Was a customers.
This is a 2015 3.5 V6 EcoBoost??? A 2015 and the Cats are failing? I am by no means a mechanic, so can someone explain how these have gone bad?? Ive had a 2003 SDF250, a 2005 FX4 and current 2013 5.0 XLT. Just ordered a 2022 F150 3.5 custom (like a fx4/tremor Hybrid). I have NEVER had Cat issue
i have f150 2020 xlt 2.7l 14.000 miles catalytic have to replace drive side . i have to wait 2 week for now becauce no part from ford company . that is so bad
@@dannynguyen454 I’ve been waiting over 2 months for OEM cats, still no ETA on availability. I told the dealer to cancel the order and I’m going with aftermarket SPD cats
86k on my 2018 5.0 drivers side is plugged. This isn’t rare at all. Just ordered a 23 with the 3.5eb so replacing my cats just to get rid of check engine light to sell it.
this is an old comment but it looks like the f150s with the turbos are having Cat problems i have 2 f150 with 5.0 v8 NA (work trucks) both 300k and no cat problems
I’m at 245K and my passenger side is clogged, I might just rod that out and if and when my drivers side gets clogged, I’ll just straight pipe it back.
lol mine were stolen ford dealer in saskatoon saskatchewan canada wants 4000.00 for the cats so thats not going to happen
Someone cut my and stoling
I am Aria from the AISKITS team and would like to work with you. May I send you an email?
