Ambika Mod’s final scenes are so incredible; they really capture that sense of hopelessness and despair to the point of becoming numb. Shruti was the most relatable character, a fantastic and true representation of all junior doctors.
i think shruti i dont know the actors name deserves some recognition for the acting she did. could definitely see her doing more things and hope she gets places because shes amazing
Most people are probably thinking this is just a dramatisation but those of us who work/worked for the NHS know that what's depicted is all too real and if people continue to vote for government that effectively defunds the NHS like they have been doing for the last decade you will find out to your cost how real it is.
Going back 30 years when my dad was in hospital, 6 on the ward, the junior doctor fell asleep mid conversation. They said he was never away from the place, worked all hours. And none of them woke him up because they felt sorry for him and they all liked him.
@@KW-ro5ow I fell asleep during a clinical placement at a clinical review meeting in which I had to sit on the floor because there weren’t enough chairs in the tiny office. A junior doctor kicked me before my mentor noticed 🥺🙏🏻
I'm a nurse in the NHS and I loved this show, as well as the book it's based on for how funny but also how truthful it is. Unfortunately (and I know it sounds dramatic) but it genuinely triggers me which obviously makes it incredibly difficult to watch at times.
@@Sn0wButterfly I’ve only been able to watch the first episode so far. I qualified 3 months before the pandemic started and was thrown well and truly into the deep end. @@enlathestrange Please do, it's a lot to take on when you're not feeling great yourself. I felt the same when I read the book, then went to see the live show and had to try not to break down in the theatre. I looked around and realised that while other people were clearly sad, I was one of the few people desperately trying to hold it together. That's the moment I realised that I need to be careful with myself and recognise when not to consume media like this. Like I said, I really love everything Adam Kay has done, which makes it hard to avoid his content because I do enjoy it. But recognising when it's too much is so important. Take care of yourself, lovely ❤
My husband and I went to upper school with Ben so it’s always so lovely to see him doing so well. I bumped into him a few years ago and he hadn’t changed a bit. So genuine, kind and down to earth. He took a real interest in what I’d been doing since school which was sweet. I loved the book so was thrilled to see Ben playing Adam! 👍🏻
Hi. Me too.. I lived opposite Ben and James in Langford for a number of years. I remember one Christmas both Ben and James got new racing bikes. James would fly up and down the road on his, I never saw Ben on his. Lovely guy and an absolute genius actor.
I've watched the whole series yesterday. Parts of it hard to watch in places. But over all funny and enjoyable. Ben was brilliant. Watch out for Adam Kay as the cyclist.
This series was seriously so good. The balance of comedy and tragedy was great - I found myself being drawn back into the atmosphere of the show and enjoying watching it so much even while it really conveyed such a heavy air of exhaustion and depression in a way that you could feel so viscerally. Ben and Ambika are amazing!
Loved this show , bingewatched it all in one go. Ben Wishaw deserves an award for his performance- mesmerising, brilliant. The actress that plaid Shruti was extremely well acted and convincing , I hope we see more of her. The writing by Adam Kay was so true of the NHS , I can relate as have been a nurse for 30 years in the NHS. Black comedy with pathos and heart. The best writers are those that write what they know and Adam Kay had seen it , done it and taught one !👍👍
I’ve always had massive appreciation and respect for our nhs staff but after watching the show and seeing it more from the workers pov I literally want to hug everyone who works at the hospital and thank them it’s just incredible
Brilliantly written, and brilliantly brought to screen. The acting is off the charts. Please, please bring us more. I really hope the series will have a continuation.
I loved the book and this series is the best thing I've seen in a long time, very moving. Adam's honesty is courageous and Ben portrayed him so well. I was in tears several times! People need to see the pressure NHS staff are under.
Fantastic show, Ben is sublimely talented. His performance as Norman Scott in A Very English Scandal was flawless 👏🏻 and the fact that he dedicated his Golden Globe to Norman was a really lovely thing to do. I knew a couple of “non reassuring Traces” in my time as a midwife so that made me smile. Overall an incredible cast and show, Ambika Mod 👏🏻 Rory as Harry stole my heart, he was such a lovely character plus that Irish lilt 😘 If there is a second season, Harry has to be in it 🙏🏻 The music was fantastic as well 👍🏻
I have read the book 4 times and laughed as much each time, when I saw it was going to be televised I couldn't wait to watch it and I was not disappointed. It was hilarious, the acting was really good, and Ben Wishaw was the best choice for the part. Well done all of you.😍😷👨⚕️
Once again Ben Winshaw's performance is supreme! Ambika Mod gave a phenomenal performance, all actors really were just perfect. This show is spell binding in its honesty, grit and flaws, I have been used to seeing doctors portrayed on shows as having god complex with most shows but here its a completely different real depiction of what doctors go through, a brilliant show and has set in an urge to pick up the book by the amazing Adam Kay the man himself!
Absolutely loved this programme, the part was made for Ben Wishaw,he was just fantastic,as were the other characters...if you haven't watched it yet then I 100% recommend.
My first exposure to Ben's acting was in Mary Poppins returns and it's one of my favorite movies of all time a lot of which because of his performance so i'm totally excited to see his range in this series!
This is a fantastic series I love that he is talking to the camera and explains procedures and monologues the realistic representation of healthcare the realistic procedures and the mental health side. Haven’t seen any other series like this most healthcare shows are cheesy or unrealistic
i don`t know if at least one living spirit reads it but i really adore this show, it`s incredible, fantastic, amazing and a lot of other epithets... i can`t express my feeling about all of it because it`s very, very deep, hidden somewhere in my heart and my thoughts... i can`t help but thank the cast and all the people working on this wonderful project for every caracter, for every line, for every dialogue, every joke and every piece of drama that made me laugh, love and cry. Ben Whishaw is the greatest, and his Adam is the the greatest also... thanks A LOT, looking forward for the season 2!!!
Ben whishaw looks very young. In james bond skyfall when he first time shows up, he looks like a college boy on his early 20s even at somepoint I found a people though he 18 while in reality he's 31 at that time. And now he's 41 looks like someone on his mid 20s. What he's secrets? Did he eat one tablespoon of immortality as a breakfast everyday?
There is only 1 reason why this Man is suddenly on my FYP even thought I haven't serched this show or his name - he is the new Doctor who calling it now.
I received the book as a gift from a friend. I laughed, cried and when I heard they were going to make a series, I was very excited but also sceptical. You know, these things can get very good or end up a disaster. But I can now say that finally I saw something that stayed true to the book and I have to praise all the actors involved, especially Ben whom I love and Ambika Mod.
I've not seen the show yet as I wasn't really sure what it was about, but watching this clip (?) trail (?) has given me something: Ben Whishwaw, as a normal person. I get the feeling that, in this interview, he's fully himself - not acting as anyone else or anything other than himself and that's quite nice to see. I might actually watch this series now :D
What I love about him is that he's not "thirsty" Of fame. He turned down freddie mercury's biopic role, and newt scammander role from fantastic beasts, and he turned down marvel when they offer him the role of sersi from the eternals. He's not afraid of rejecting big companies or francise, and kept humble. He really controlled his fame and career. Some of my british friends who went to acting school says that he's their role model, even most of their teachers adores him and makes him as an example "what a professional actors looks like"
