@@Hero_Of_Old I could also add why should bond be written any other way than how he is described in the source material - you change that you change the audience - again just to tick boxes - you start ticking boxes you lose the essence of the character completely and entertainment goes down the toilet.
Honestly, I would be fine with that. If fans are so "Desperately scared" it will ruin the franchise of 007, just let there be another side agent with 007; Just to add a different twist to the story. Eg. 005, 006, etc. That can be a option.

I loved Whishaw's performance as Q until seeing this latest film. He wasn't playing Q, he was playing himself. It served no point whatsoever in making Q gay. I'm gay myself, but I despise when a known character is made gay just for the sake of it. Make a point of it, or do it to improve the story somehow. Otherwise, just leave well enough alone, or keep things ambiguous. We don't need pandering to just for the sake of it.
I haven't watched this movie yet, but it would be ironic to note that making the Q character gay defeats the whole wanting to have a gay man play Bond! It also makes my point of how gay characters are getting thrown in our face now! I also didn't know this actor was gay until it was made a headline, because his character in the previous Bond movie or any of the others never really got into the character's personal life, which is also how it should have stayed! Q is supposed to be the gadget guy & nothing else besides comic relief as the previous actors have portrayed him!

Bit of a click baity title, but yes, a gay actor could certainly play Bond. I'm sure there'd be minor 'controversy' if an out gay actor were cast... going from the comments here (from a lot of people who clearly haven't watched the video) there'd be a lot of 'James Bond is straight' types before producers would pointlessly have to state that the character of Bond will in fact stay heterosexual, and that the actor's sexuality isn't the same as the character's he's playing.
‘. . . and it would be really thrilling if it didn’t matter about someone’s sexuality to take on a role like this’. Proceeds to advocate for an ‘openly gay’ actor to take over the role. _FFS_ . . . 🙄
this assumes the "best person for the job" is always getting cast / would include any variety of actors straight / lgbt+ for example, however we know the existing stigmas around lgbt+ actors means they won't get cast in specific roles because of the preexisting stigma. Ignoring these potential actors, means the "best person for the job" would probably never happen, because this means you've excluded a huge swathe of could be actors, due to their role, sexuality, etc. essentially, "best person for the job" isn't the reality, that's why opening up casting options would only help find new incredibly talented individuals which is what whishaw is talking about.
@@retroremo he's box ticking. Simply that. Fleming wrote bonds character as a red blooded male. A good actor can play any part that has been proven time after time. However the actual character is always in the audience's mind. The notion of someone who isn't straight playing bond falls down. Bond has been around for over 50 years and he was created being a ladies man. If we were watching a non straight actor kiss/romance a woman it wouldn't work cus the audience can see through this. It makes it unbelievable.
It might be "thrilling" for, no skin in the game, Ben Whishaw to hope for a gay James Bond but most would assume the owners and principal investors in the franchise have no interest in neutering their prizewinning racehorse. @@DarthOpinion understood. As a trained actor (now a writer) I have experience of working with people of all shapes, sizes, genders, sexualities and so on. All of which is as it should be. And rich and rewarding to all. But a world where the opportunity to express yourself and be creative becomes shrunk by a ‘ you can’t play that’ sensibility, is not fun for artists, writers and an creative people. It’s something I and many other are struggling with. I have yet to form a full on opinion about it but it’s great to have a reply that is intelligent and sensitive. Some people just shout. All in all diversity and inclusion should be paramount, exclusion makes me nervous. That is not to say there should not be some sensitive exceptions.
@@TheAJW50 Appreciate it dude, i hear what you're saying. Food for thought.
Ben’s shirt is amazing. Love him btw:) Also Happy birthday. :D
I loved the movie, but missed Q, I wish he was more in the movie. I would have loved seeing his date and watched that relationship evolve. It is never just work and no fun for James so Q deserves some fun and love too🥰🤩
Really? I thought Q had a bigger role in this movie than ever before! Especially the island sequence.
@@lorenzop9181 Nope it felt like 10 minutes maybe a little more but out of the 2h 43m not so much 🤷♀️😊
He does have more screen time it seems, but aside from the scene in Q's apartment, the rest felt very serious without the usual banter or witty remarks. That's why nothing really stood out in this film.
yes they are. they already had Bond gay.
whoever notice the relationship between Bond&Q (Daniel&Ben) you able see they are sweetest couple like Bond&Vesper cause of the sarcastic jokes which they always burn each other. ☺️☺️
Bond is a womaniser. That is the character.
And? You’re point?
@@Bdawg9891 thought it was a pretty reasonable point
What has that got to do with a gay actor playing the role? There have been plenty, if not most, gay roles that have been played by straight actors. If they are good at acting then that should be enough…
@@Howtobeabeast why do they have to be gay? Just to tick a box? There are plenty of straight actors.
No Ben, it would NOT!
i love it that his character Q is gay as well in No time to die.
You can't have a homosexual BOND. That would be absurd. This is a proper mans role.
So looking forward to see him as q in nttd
It's a fantasy movie let's keep this indentity politics out of it.
You think the woke lefty limp wrists would ever do that?
I love Ben and his performance in the Bond series and in Layer Cake! But please, it’s ONE character who was IDENTIFIED in the 1960s and is a national treasure that should not be tampered with. The world has gone mad. 😫
but he is talking about the actor, not the character. it wouldn't matter either way. and may i remind you, it is implied that bond has had sexual experiences with men during skyfall, even if it was for comedic or bluffing purposes.
@@arijeanz Very true. Apologies, I see what you and Ben mean.
Q is supposed to be the gadget guy & nothing else besides comic relief as the previous actors have portrayed him!
i love q so much, he does great work
Wasn't this actor in the movie "Perfume"?
Yes.
@@kaigomez08 thanks so much.
@@tomsperduti2967 Yes, and he was absolutely awesome in it. It's one of his first movies I watched and was absolutely mesmerized by him. Such a good movie and performance, recommend people watch it.
As for the topic of the video: Ben's gay and he does an absolutely phenomenal job as agent Q. If the actor is right for the role then they are right for the role, the rest doesn't matter. Just like if a straight guy plays a gay character, if they are right for the role then that's all that matters.
@@husman2007 absolutely.
If it doesn't matter than why in the hell does he even want to see a gay actor play that part then? Clearly it does matter to him 😂. Only issue I could see fans having is if they changed the 007 character to a gay man
Love your screen name.
@mr Han Man What's the difference? 😂
@mr Han Man It's the same difference bro. You know damn good and well he'd love to see a gay man play 007. That's his point. Peace
@mr Han Man I don't know where you've been the last few years but anything that's gay is praised today. Gay movies always win awards and openly gay actors ALWAYS get critically acclaimed for their performances. ALWAYS. So I don't know what sh!tstorm he thinks is going to come of this if it were to happen. And sh!tstorm is a funny choice of words to use when talking about gay men don't you think? 😂. Anyway, believe whatever you want. Peace
@mr Han Man Man stop it lol. Weirdo
Ben could totally pull of playing James Bond too!
Great actor, remember "Parfume"? why not a woman? i have the impression that 007 is a number indicating the rank and the range of skills of an agent not the sex....
I think we should especially come back to a real James Bond. In my opinion D.Craig is not good for the role. He looks like a soldier. James Bond is not that. He is a handsome and classy man with a caustic humor.
Danile Craig is the closest to the book. People mistake the movies as the basis of Bond. Craig is like the book version more than why others
_FFS_ . . . 🙄
If it "doesn't matter" how about we just leave Mr. Bond as he is?
When did Qs sexuality ever become a factor in Bond?!
FFS why not the best person for the job.. Stop placing prerequisites into the casting. Haha well as long as he's a straight white red blooded male 😂😉😆
this assumes the "best person for the job" is always getting cast / would include any variety of actors straight / lgbt+ for example, however we know the existing stigmas around lgbt+ actors means they won't get cast in specific roles because of the preexisting stigma.
Oh god he's so fit.. Gutted he's gay .. What an articulate beautiful talented gay man 💪❤️
Why though?
It might be "thrilling" for, no skin in the game, Ben Whishaw to hope for a gay James Bond but most would assume the owners and principal investors in the franchise have no interest in neutering their prizewinning racehorse. What should be clear is that if the next Bond character is gay, most folks won't bother watching, much less read about it.
Gay Bond would be interesting
James Bond is not gay though. The actor could be homosexual but the character be straight.
When will the woke leave Bond alone
To be honest I don't care. Are they good for the role? That is literally all that matters.
"I think it would be really thrilling" if you would focus on merit for once. To hell with this PC bull.
Ben is an icon!
You do know your sexual preference is something you don't have to shout out to everyone. Gay men like Ian McKellen, Luke Evans and Zachary Quinto all have played fantastic roles and nobody cared they were gay. Maybe actors need to act more like normal people again? Your sexuality is not a (dis)qualification its your acting skills that matter.
It's obvious that those people are gay, though.
James Bond is a testosterone filled guy, something gay people don't even know what is.
@@OriginalPuro their sexual preference was only known to the public after they spoke about it. All three actors I mentioned have played some pretty manly roles.
You also seem to have a very stereotypical view about homosexuals.
@@StefanS-ig2rm lol none of them was the lead character in a movie
@@kstephane1444 lol yes they have been. Also whats your point?
@@StefanS-ig2rm any example ?
So he would also like to see nobody watch this movie?
How about we just get the best actor for the job instead of trying to tick a PC box.
I think he looks and sounds his age. I feel like we compare really bad looking old people to someone who looks good for their age and then think that person looks way younger.
Ok so let me get this right... This is the guy that only wants gay actors to play gay parts but now he wants a gay actor to play an alpha male role? Stick to acting please and leave the gender politics alone please
Notice you didn't say "straight"?
And no he didn't say that you effing mong. Listen to the effing video AGAIN.
@@Rage_Harder_Then_Relax wow! Mong? Very pc you are a little random with your equality politics
So here we go the huge media cogs start turning to implement the process to ruin the James Bond character by every which way they can think of...if it happens well I won't be watching.
why .. Jim parison played Sheldon Cooper in Big Bang theory and Sheldon feel in love with Amy the actors life as a gay man did not influence the character at all what is the issue to the film yes it will be amazing for media and LGBTQ community but the actual bond movie it wouldn't affect it at all what's your issue
@@luciesmith2706 Very bad example, when at that point everyone knew Jim Parsons is gay! Given the type of character he played, no one could really have bought into the idea he could be remotely romantic as it was! From my point of view the Sheldon & Amy romance was a running joke in more ways than one!
But bond is a ladys man.... making 007 gay wouldn't make any sense
Q' should be promoted to the field and given 007 status.
No... really not. James Bons has always been a heterosexual man according to Ian Flemming, not a women hairdresser.
👍 Yes!
This PC shit is fucking up everything
I thought Q and Moneypenny we're both slightly less as good as they were in the previous 2 films
Just get Ben Whishaw to do it
So he's really gay?
Yes! he's married
Would be more accurate to the real MI5.MI6. If Le Carre was alive he would tell you
The gay scene was unnecessary period!!! Nobody cares 😴 that should have been a deleted scene!!! 🤣
Great interview by Will, really enjoyed it.
I’ve no problem with a gay actor playing Bond. Just don’t make him a camp pansy. Luke Evans would be a good choice. He’s gay but plays a straight guy as good as a straight guy can.
Bigot
No thank you, Ben.
but bond is a person. hes a character.
That ain't happening.
cool but just make a new character
Cue trailer voice: “In a world where the actor playing Q is the hottest person in the movie…”
Bond is dead though?????
Actors are paid to act. I couldn't care less what their sexuality is. And that is precisely what Ben is alluding to.
NO NO NO !!!
The less I know about these actors and their opinions the better...
Gay guy plays paddington
If ones sexuality doesn't matter, why mention it at all? You lost me there
How tiring! I would never buy into the idea of a openly gay actor playing James Bond! The character is a womanizer of all things! Seems more of a repressed desire to jump Bonds bones by Ben's Q character! Anyone who might want to try & make this idea fly is out of his mind! Guarantee that's not a movie that would sell without investors willing to takes a big dump on their cash flow!
But they would be acting? That's the point of their job.
And plenty of men have been "straight acting" regardless of whether they act professionally or not 😅
Please no
How about Mathew Goode?
Yeah it would be great if you want to completely destroy the James Bond franchise. James Bond doesn't go for man ass .
i am not against any lbgtq actiors but this character is not gay and there for should not be portrayed as one or by one.
No fucking no
having an openly gay actor play bond would be great! personally having bond be bisexual would also be great because, well, if you can flirt and sleep with everyone it helps a lot! think about it, spies who are bisexual have way more range than straight ones.
Who gives a shit what sexuality the actor is?! We all ready know that Bond isn’t straight.
Bond is obviously straight. Everyone knows that. Maybe the last bond was ambiguous but it was never a question before all this woke Hollywood nonsense of the last decade.
Daniel Craig will never be topped a James Bond
Timothy Dalton.

James bond gonna bust slob with goldfinger
I got a crush on a 40 y/o gay man. Fml 🤣
