I was in Africa a few years ago. The last few seconds of the VID hits the nail on the head except you forgot the biggest thing that I took away from my trip. Although they may be poor, living in the dirt, and in short supply of food, everyone that I encountered were GREATFULL for everything that they had. For instance, one man may live in an old run-down house, he is glad and proud that he has that house because he could be living in a shanty. The man in the shanty is proud and grateful that he is living in a shanty because he could be living under a bridge. The man under the bridge is proud and grateful that he has his bridge because he could be living in a box on the street. The man in the box is proud and grateful that he has his box and street to live in. My takeaway was no matter what you wish you have, always be grateful and enjoy what you do, because you can always be worse off. PS: Thanks guys for sharing your experience, I truly miss Africa and your videos have been able to bring a little piece of it back for me to enjoy.
Hey guys your African trip videos are amazing big shout out to Renee for all the hard work You are truly living a dream and I'm living one through you lol God-bless you guys stay safe see you back on the water on your new adventure

Your Road Trip was spectacular! I mean, I watched each episode then made my family sit with me again a day or two later. I am REALLY excited about where you'll be heading soon. Stay safe around Somalia. Kate and Jack's gorge swing is something they can fondly remember later in life. WOW. 8000km's is just crazy. That is many many hours in a car, Anyway. look forward to next week. Cheers from Brisbane Australia,
From a fellow Texan, I can not thank you all enough for taking us on the entire journey. I wish that I had done something like this with my girls when they were younger and experienced what you are all experiencing. Cheers.
Thanks Keith for letting Americans know how good we have got it. I've been in Asia and when I got there I could not believe the poverty. I had a great time just like you guys are having but, I decided I never wanted to leave the US again. Dude, thx for the short but poignant rant.
That's a pretty broad generalisation, "couldn't believe the poverty in 'Asia'". Been to Hong Kong? Singapore? South Korea? Taiwan? Japan? Way more poverty in the US than those countries. I guess I'm different, travelling the world just makes me want to travel more.
So right what Keith said about Africa in the rend there. We have nothing, absolutely nothing, to complain about in life! If you look around in Africa though, you'll see more happy smiling faces than anywhere else. 😊
I have never agreed with one of your videos more! Thank you for sharing that perspective at the end! My family run an orphanage in Uganda and you would not believe some of the stories! Here in America we have no idea what really goes on in the world! Great video and keep ‘em coming! Fellow Texan ❤️
I am so glad you got to visit Zimbabwe. I was born and raised there but now live in the US. One of my favorite places to visit was "Mosi-oa-Tunya" or the "Smoke that thunders" AKA Victoria falls. I tell everyone I know that its a must see when you are in southern africa.
You are right Keith, I went into the Army Jan 1963 and after basic and AIT I was sent to Korea. At that time they were just starting to build roads they crushed the rock by hand and the women carried the crushed stone in a basket on their backs and heads. Then the men would spread to make a roadway. By the time I reached my base, Camp Red Cloud the village near there was so backwards but after the war, which my base was 12 miles as the crow flies to DMZ that separates the south from the North Korea. Every young man age 18 and above needs to go in the military that will also make you proud you’re from America!!! I might add really enjoy the Vietnam Era music as I was in almost entire of Vietnam (1963-1973). I’m now a 100% Disabled Vietnam Veteran and 3 deployments during my time. Really enjoy your videos, keep ‘em coming!!! BTW did you ever fly the Huey, now that’s a cool hello!
I'm just curious if Renee saw anything during any of the zip line runs. Don't worry. My wife didn't go on our zipline tour in Whistler. She had to walk all the way back down. I love how they let Keith land the helicopter. In the US they would never do that for liability reasons. Good job!
I'm a 42 year old man and Jack and Kate are my heroes, fearless and full of fun. I like to think that I would do that swing but if I was there, not sure I would be able to.
Never been to Africa, but I visited a country in Central America where the floors in the home were dirt and windows had no screens or glass. Gave me a new appreciation for the massive blessings I have been the recipient of.
Awesome trip. Although the first person to have viewed victoria falls was not David Livingstone. There were locals there. Just think about it, does it mean that people living there didn't exist until 1856 🤔? Unlearn.

I watched Kate and Jack do the jump twice, living vicariously through them I guess. I could never. She was feeling a little apprehensive, as the guy was unfazed, humming along while securing her harness at 10:42. That's why I LOVE your channel.
If you get back to the Q&As when back on the boat, I would love to hear more about Keiths old aviation business and what all he's flown. Videos have been outstanding in Africa!
Very great views! Victoria Falls aka Mosi-oa-Tunya is a beautiful and sacred place. The Makololo Tribe took David Livingstone to see the falls when he visited. He named them after Queen Victoria.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching your African adventures and way to go Renee for facing your fears! We ate at the Boma restaurant many years ago when there were no walls at all. I think I found your channel at the beginning of Covid or just before….but these segments of Africa are my favourites so far! I do love the turquoise tropical waters but give me that red earth any day of the week! I grew up in Kenya (Nairobi & an hour North where there’s an international boarding school -500 students K-12) and I’m sad you are missing out on Zanzibar, Lamu, Diani beach, the Rift Valley and much more…but I sure am loving every minute of these Africa vlogs! Asante sana! Hugs from the mid /eastern part of Vancouver Island (when are you sailing Desolation Sound?)
Hi Z-Crew. I came across your channel, watched a few episodes and then started watching a few episodes everynight from episode 1. I live in the northern suburbs of Cape Town near Stellenbosch and am so glad you had such a lekker time in my home town. You do realize that your journey around Southern Africa was the same as driving from Washington DC to Los Angeles and back again. Just a word of advice from a pest control technician. Twice you have filmed weevils in the dry pasta. These items normally get infested at the shops. Look for tiny holes in the plastic bags or pasta dust. Use that mini vacuum sealer you got as a present and suck the air out of the plastic bags. No oxygen = no insect eggs hatching. Even better keep pasta, flour etc in the fridge. Always look for spider webbing in herb and spice bottles. This indicates worms spinning cocoons. One last thing. Use your nose when walking into any small shop. A strong ammonia smell indicates mice, any oily musty smell indicates cockroaches. Only buy goods that are sealed. Now that I have grossed you out, enjoy your Med adventure.
Thank you for saying that! I've lived all over the world and I believe Americans are so spoiled when they complain all the time. As you said let them travel and then appreciate what we have here in the USA. Travel and education is the best way to make a better world for all. I loved your trip and every part of the trip you showed us. Your kids are so so blessed. Thank you so much.
We’re blessed to have all we have in America, and spending 15 months in Iraq, made me appreciate my country so much more than I ever did growing up, I was raised poor, but I was taught to be appreciative of what I have!
Thank you keith and family for taking me around the world 🌎 through covid lockdowns and continuing this epic journey. I would love to share the experience to Cairo and Israel if you decide to make the trip, the pyramids, valley of kings and the Nile river would be an incredible adventure. Stay safe, bless you all : ) .
Keith, you'll appreciate this. My first solo, HUGE turkey buzzard strike, about 500ft off the ground (KSSF). Literally impaled itself into the hole it made on the leading edge of my left wing (Cessna 150) Stuck there, with 7ft + wing span causing drag. Had to declare an emergency. Moment my nose wheel touched down, it plopped off unto the runway. A&P classified N45170 as unflyable. I was so cool calm and collected. Until I parked and tried to step out. Legs became jello. Not a bad solo story, eh?
Renee, good job for being so brave and facing your fears! It was a blessing for your kids to see you do that! I am sure your whole family is so proud of you for doing that! I hope you all have enjoyed your trip so much! I can tell you really love getting to know people on your travels!

Ngorongoro Crater is between the Serengeti and Tanragire National Parks!! Amazing - you'll need a guide - amazing videos!! Good for you!!
I could t have said it any better.
it’s true. traveling in the military shows u how things are different as well.
We’re blessed to have all we have in America, and spending 15 months in Iraq, made me appreciate my country so much more than I ever did growing up, I was raised poor, but I was taught to be appreciative of what I have!
I've said it so many times I'm gonna have it tattooed on my chest.
"Travel is fatal to Prejudice, Bigotry and Narrow Mindedness." Mark Twain
Well said Keith. I worked in South Africa and tried to tell everybody the same thing. In USA we have nothing to complain about for sure!
Daddy W, what a guy ! Mama W , what a fun adventurer all while keeping her eyes out for her family.
Wonderful - to everyone at the Zambezi boutique guest house, great job, thank you for taking care of the Zataras 🤗🤗
Renee did a great job conquering her fears. I can't believe how Kate did on the ZIP line! I wouldn't try it..
Enjoyed the helicopter ride where Keith flew. You could tell he connected with some good old memories there. Good stuff!
Love the adventure. Will never be able to afford such a trip so great getting a fellow Texans opinions and perspective.
13:02 We are very pleased to have you come to Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 and we hope you will be happy with this trip

Egypt is Fing awesome u will LOVE IT best time u will ever have traveling if u enjoy ancient world sites
You guys should make a Coffee table book or some adventure book.
Renee, good job for being so brave and facing your fears! It was a blessing for your kids to see you do that! I am sure your whole family is so proud of you for doing that! I hope you all have enjoyed your trip so much! I can tell you really love getting to know people on your travels!

We Bruce a Darlene Arseneault from Moncton Canada. We are both retired army veteran's and sailors.
Unfortunately Darlene was diagnosed 11 months ago with ovarian cancer. After surgery and 9 chemotherapy treatments my best friend and soul mate Darlene passed away 2 days ago.
During her treatments her eyes would sparkle with happiness when we watched your videos.
Thank you all for helping her difficult situation better.
My heart is heavy but I'm relieved her suffering is over.
I wish all happiness and long life.
Best regards Bruce arseneault
You have inspired me to road trip Africa!!
Best non ocean episodes ever!! Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Yep.... Africa is not for sissies. Thank you for visiting, best of luck and safe travels, I will be following your adventures.
I couldn’t stop laughing at Kate and Jack on that crazy swing. What a memory to share
Years of following Sailing Zatara and with each vlog, I admire you more and more as a family and how well you all get along and enjoy traveling to so many countries, always embracing and adapting to new adventures. What a lifetime of education for all! It will be interesting to see where the kids land in their adult life. I throughly enjoyed this vlog, and your adventures as a family. Renee you are an incredible inspiration and videographer. Safe travels!
well said Keith, those final words. Every teenager in the civilized world should be send for a short while to Africa to get a different perspective of the world we are living in. Changed my life for sure...
God Bless you Renee for taking the leap. I could have not done it. I have height phobia. You are one brave lady. I commend your bravery ♥️♥️.
One of my favorite videos! Beautiful family memories! Strong support for Renee, Kate & Jack's adventurous spirit, Keith's humor and love of aviation, and the music trivia....Love it!
Excellent adventures. Once again, another great video from Sailing Zatara.
I lived in the Central African Republic for 2 years What you said about come see Africa if you think you're oppressed in the US is spot on. Instead of complaining about your heritage, thank your gods for being in America.
Rene, you scrambled through the content ( Southern Africa trip) I would have appreciated if you maybe made one or two more videos
Proud South African!
