Just finished binge watching. A great insight into the early history of the beautiful game, whilst also looking at the class divide in 19th Century England. Would recommend to anyone, especially now when we are robbed of our football fix.

Bradford aka the World's first UNESCO City of Film and Period Dramas.
They nearly always film in Bradford at some point.
This month at least 3 period dramas have filmed here, along with 1 which is set in the present day.
At least 2 of the 4 have used the same streets as The English Game, as usual.
However it doesn't matter whether they're set in the past, present or future, the same locations are always used.
Finally a series about the history of footbal, I can't wait to see it

Then you should watch "Montevideo bog te video" and "Montevideo vidimo se" movies. The movies are about Yugoslav football team that participated in first Fifa World cup in 1930.
I watched out of the series it's about 20% football and 80% made up nonescence.

Honestly one of the best shows on Netflix. I'm so glad they didnt force any progressive messages that wouldn't have fit the period. Great acting and story. It made me bawl at the end.

No one knows who invented football, it was played around the whole world for many countries. England didn't make it, they were just the first country to govern it.
it's not out yet but I already hope it's not a one season thing. Would be pretty cool if it was multi season and each season dedicated to certain important period of time in english football

The best show in Netflix. I love how the characters are portrayed here. The fact that they all lived in this earth some years ago is a hope that good people do exist. How they handled the problems of the game and their never ending hope is what inspired me the most. Very admirable characters and a great moral lessons it contains.
This series was well done. Two stories in one and intertwined together. Beautifully done. One of the best series I've seen by Netflix.

How is England horrible at football? They came fourth in the World Cup and have the biggest league in the world.
Why would it be something bad though? It's an improvement to us compared to the Euros and 2014 World Cup.

this show is so damn good. the music, characters, writing, locations, just everything. i dont really follow any sports except basketball occasionally and im american so i think that says a lot about how good the show is.

It's a brilliant and a beautiful series, passionate like football itself. I have a feeling The English Game will come up with a different story line, with different historical figures, sportspersons and managers with a different aspect of the game for the next season. Would love to see one of them about The Durand Cup!! After all it did affect the 4 billion and more later in the entire world.

If you’re demoralized and need an escape binge watch, The English Game is pretty good. The real life character of Arthur Kinnaird is very interesting. I don’t even like soccer but this is a worthy Netflix series. I appreciate everyone involved thank you all for the escape.

This stadium was the stage for the first game of the 1998 Copa Libertadores da América final, in which this club won this cup.

I have dreamed of this production because my brother and I are soccer players in Zambia, although we were born in Honduras. Anyway, I thank Netflix for bringing us the history of soccer. Also I want to transfer my grateful feelings to England and USA people.

i enjoyed this a lot, it was a great series.
it kind of felt a little bit stretched with the "baby drama" but at the end i understood why the focus on the father. (in my mind is as he was the true fifa president)
