Bolts kit: amzn.to/2qdvDd9 4.7 L engine. Broken exhaust studs. Signs / symptoms: low ticking / knocking noise that would go away once the engine warmed up
Thank you for making our job a dream.Changed the very rusted unit in record time with your very complete video seminar. Used Mopar bolts and hardware as recommended by a friend whom has used the aftermarket stuff and regretted it.
Thanks for the video. I have a 98 3.9L and I believe the foremost stud on the passenger stud is broken. Will get around to checking it out soon. I like how you took the time to double-check the torque of the studs/nuts. Too many guys get in a hurry to be done. Good job!
HUGE thanks for this vid! I have an 06 I purchased with dealer warranty. found out gaskets not covered. quote was $449 with manifold. $270 without. (ridiculous) pretty straightforward repair.
I'm planning on replacing the right side exhaust manifold and have been advised by a Dodge mechanic of many years to use factory bolts. I got them from the dealer. The manifold is aftermarket. Dealer says no gasket needed,in fact they don't carry any. I'm going to use one since the manifold is aftermarket. Haven't started yet...wish me luck.
Thanks for the video. My Ram 1500 with 4.7 engine and 5 speed manual transmission failed the safety because the left rear manifold was leaking. I managed to get 6 of the 8 bolts out. The last two I burned the heads of the bolts off. The heads had rusted away and I could not get anything on them to turn them. Just a quarter turn and you can back the bolts out by hand. I replaced all of the bolts. Thanks for the information, I was really worried before I saw this video.
Thanks, but don't worry too much! After checking all local autoparts stores, I went to the local dealership. The price for the bolts was only 4.00 each. Again awesome video, it hepled a great deal!
I bought the kit from an online store, but shipping took a bit long and it was short on rear bolts (the 2 rear ones are longer). I'll check to see if I still have the parts # and you can search for them that way
Nice job, looks pretty simple when everything is like new. How about a video to replace the drivers side gasket on a 2003 Dakota from Canada that has broken studs and everything is all RUSTED UP!....................Thanx!
i did this yesterday... not broken but badly rusted up here in Ontario. i sprayed and soaked with a penetrating oil like liquid wrench and i got em off. he was nice to himself and removed the tire and inner fender piece... i snuck it out with out and in
Thank you for the video, it looks like I'll give it a try. Just one question: My gasket came with the note to apply high temperature anti-seize lubricant to the bolt and stud threads. Did you do that, too?
There's no other way to remove them without breaking them. I used those type of "pins" shown. I've seen similar type of rivets at advanceautoparts, but I do not know if a special tool is needed to insert them as with the metal rivets
nice vid...my leak on my 05 4.7 is at the flange, just after the manifold (driver side)....any suggestion on a repair but insexpansive? Was thinking about cutting the flange buying a pipe and a coupler et clamps.... thx
WHAT TYPE OF PINS YOU USE FOR PLASTIC COVER, I WISH YOU WERE HERE TO HELP ME..DUE TOO ITS HARD TO DO WITH ONE HAND, I'M DISABLED OF ONE ARM..YOU GAVE ME MORE CONFIDENT TO DO IT..THEY WANT 1,500. TO DO WHAT YOU JUST DID. GREAT JOB MAN.
do you happen to know the size of the bolts? all mine are too rusted to put back on, and i cant find out the size for the other ones on passenger side that connect the heat shield.
I have an exhaust leak just like this one same side looks like same truck, great truck never gives me any real problems. Manual 5 speed [automatics often have problems in and around 120k], My 99 dakota 4x4 v8, had the leak since I bought it last year and is more then just an annoying sound as this leak is costing me about 100km a tank of fuel, due to the O2 sensors detecting too much oxygen in the exhaust, and therefore tells the engine's computer to add more fuel to compensate to the programmed CO2 levels it is looking for. If this fix does not fully improve my gas milage then the O2 sensors need replacing too, especially if you have a code reader that tells you this. they are an extra 150 buck investment and should get OEM ones. I was going to get this job professionally done and did include a regrinding of the maybe warped manifold to the tune of 150.oo to 750.oo [worse case] As I couldn't bare the thought of drilling out broken studs in such a cramped space, but this video has changed my mind for sure. Thanks a lot for this well done video!
WHERE IS THE SOUND ON THIS VIDEO WOULD LIKE THE PERSON TO BE TALKING IT'S NOT A BAD VIDEO VERY GOOD VIDEO AS FAR AS GRAPHICS GO BUT NO SOUND YOU GOT TO BE TALKING IN THE VIDEO AND NO FOREIGN LANGUAGE I DON'T TRANSLATE❤
Never thought about removing the wheel and well wall for better access. Very helpful video. Thanks!
Watching this video have given me great confidence on attacking this problem over this weekend. Thank you sir.

Stick with Mopar if able, that is your status quo

OUTSTANDING video!!! Short and to the point. I hope its as easy for me
Thank you so much man. this is what i thought was wrong with my truck and this video and the before video helped me out so much!
thanks for the video ..took 1/2 hr...easy job..
I bought the kit from an online store, but shipping took a bit long and it was short on rear bolts (the 2 rear ones are longer). I'll check to see if I still have the parts # and you can search for them that way
Just wanted to say thank you. I just did this today and it was a snap following this video.
Great video. I have to replace my 07 manifold. Wow! Looks easier than I thought. Do you recommend the blaster?
Thanks for the video. I bought the bolts from local Dodge dealer. $13.00 for full new set.

Got a quote of 1100$ broken stud
what is the torque
Thanks for the video, replacing mine this weekend! 04 Dodge Durango
Great video! I have to do this job and was thinking it was going to be a lot tougher than this .
Is the job for the left side relatively the same?
I'm glad it helped!
good video it was short and to the point showed every step very good buddy
Thanks for this awesome video. Watching it is going to make doing this a breeze.
It's not a bad idea to have it around. I've read the bolts could brake off while trying to remove them... just wanted to prevent that from happening
Thank you for the video, it looks like I'll give it a try. Just one question: My gasket came with the note to apply high temperature anti-seize lubricant to the bolt and stud threads. Did you do that, too?
I second the rivets question.. How do they come off and Can u reuse? I broke one trying to pry it out.

You made it look easy ! Thanks you for the video and the music was cool as well : )
Two bolts broke in the exact same location on both sides on my 05 Dakota
Thank you so much for making this video and sharing!
nice vid...my leak on my 05 4.7 is at the flange, just after the manifold (driver side)....any suggestion on a repair but insexpansive? Was thinking about cutting the flange buying a pipe and a coupler et clamps.... thx

They're just body panel trim retainers, for a hole between 3/16 and 1/4 inch (I don't remember the exact size). Every part store must have them
do you happen to know the size of the bolts? all mine are too rusted to put back on, and i cant find out the size for the other ones on passenger side that connect the heat shield.
Any idea where i can find a replacement heat shield and new bolts?
Good video!
Where did you get the replacement bolts?
What was the torque setting you used to tighten the manifold? I too have a 03 Dakota with an exhaust leak in the exact same spot!
Great Video! Thank you for your help!
What year is this truck? Looked super easy and want to get started this weekend but would like to know if this is same as my 2006. Thanks!
Yes, I believe it's the same
How do I remove the rivets and am I able to reuse them?
Is the sensor that I see the exhaust gas temp? I've been looking for this sensor on my dodge. Can anyone post a video on how to replace one?
Nice job.
Gasket goes on which side shinny side to engine or shinny side towards exhaust intake?
I don't remember if there were marked Left and Right, or if there's only one way they align with bolt holes
It's a 2003. It might not be exactly the same but it will be very similar
What is that shiny insulated wire on the left ?
I think that goes to the crankshaft positioning sensor
@@Flakomx07 thanks mine broke and it def is acting up and this is THE ONLY video where anything explains anything close to it so thank you very much
Try this with a Fiero, on the back side against the firewall...
A water pump on a Fiero is WAY more fun :)
Guess what recently started leaking on my car....
Ohh nooo, you gotta be kidding man :( That sucks!!
damm good video thanks im going to use this
Does this one have a downpipe flange gasket
It didn't. This part of the exhaust was flared
What is the torque
Where did you get the new studs could you send me a link please
amzn.to/2qdvDd9 on Amazon
Or you could check other sites like ebay for individual ones. Parts # 6505257AA , 06504331 , 6504340
Some words would be nice.. Like stating the torque specs for us.

I took my truck to some charlatans that wanted 1600 bucks to replace my exhaust and intake manifolds. I think I'll try it myself. Thanks.
