I'm not a fan of the "clean beauty" marketing, there's no true definition anyways, so it can mean anything the brand wants it to mean. It''s usually fear mongering and doesn't really use ingredients that are objectively better. Tell me what's in it, not a bunch of random things it doesn't have. There's also a lot of ingredients where there's not enough in it to have any ill effect, that aren't a real problem.
I drink chemicals everyday, water is scary right? Lol. Rant over.

Speak for yourself. There is science to back these claims. For example who wants PFTE (aka Teflon) in their eyeshadow?? Read about BHT and PEG under 100. We don’t know the long term effects of these chemicals when they are absorbed into your bloodstream - could be accumulative if the body doesn’t filter out. There are studies that some of them are hormone disrupters. But you do you, and stop being a naysayer to those who’ve done their research.
'Clean' beauty is actually much more dangerous in the sense that people are usually more allergic and sensitive. Chemicals aren't bad, they are much safer and last longer without going off than some natural ingredients
Thanks for fighting the good fight! Nothing wrong with the chemically sensitive crowd having options but the obnoxious anti science approach to it always bugs me as an allergy sufferer. Nothing has been worst for my health and well-being than the damn "natural" "green" "clean" cultural obsession.
Yep. Most clean makeup makes my skin itch and get super dry and flaky.
This is so half assed. Nothing specific, just general blanket lazy commentary. Do you realize that most of the brands that are non-toxic were created by people who suffered from extremely sensitive skin.

@@pennPi yes really. Way to many to list. Sephora has a "clean" section on the app. Makeup and skincare both of which have made me itchy and dry. I've tried narrowing down ingredients but it's a work in progress
I’ve never tried Deck of Scarlet because I don’t like the idea of subscription only but now I might have to check them out!!!
What I don’t like is the whole “clean” beauty thing, it sounds a little gimmicky. Who decides what ingredients are “bad”? It’s a little fear mongering by saying we don’t use what other companies use. Just my two cents 🤷🏻♀️
I agree. I work at wholefoods and I see this type of thing all the time. Same thing goes for “plant based”. We sell “plant based” cookies but it still has sugar in it. People hear the words “clean beauty” and “plant based” and automatically think it’s equals good, so they buy it without doing any research into the products. I also get annoyed when people are afraid of chemicals and think “natural” is good too. Like bro, cyanide is natural too lmao 🗣EVERYTHING HAS CHEMICALS!!!
I'm so happy there are some people in the comments mentioning this about "clean" beauty! Nothing wrong with the chemically sensitive crowd having options of course, but as an allergy sufferer every time I see the words clean, green, or natural on a product I know it will probably hurt my health not help it. I just wish they didn't have this anti science cultural monopoly on what is and is not healthy.

Love the eye swatches and your enthusiasm! But I do think you need to be more careful with introducing information on "clean" beauty that lends itself to fear mongering, without doing the appropriate research from unbiased sources, particularly biochemists . This kind of rhetoric is why there was that push to remove parabens, but in reality they are the most tested and longest used preservative than its comparable replacements. As such, by measure of risk, they are in fact safer than newer alternatives.
Thank you for this. Science is my gospel. Not crazy shit you see Facebook huns/Karens/etc. pushing on social media about stuff science has proven wrong for years.
I love love love Shae SO MUCH but she tends to say things without doing much research a lot... (like making a big deal about something not being “eye safe” just bc of the pigment when it’s literally an EYESHADOW.... it’s just a legal disclaimer) but shes a sweet girl, she doesn’t mean any harm.

These look absolutely incredible!!! I visited their website and wheeeeewww, these are $25 EACH lmao. This is right up my alley and I’m sure it’s totally worth it, but I have a hard time justifying that price, you know?!
Same here! For one shade...eek! I’d rather buy a palette and get multiple shades 😂 I’ll always watch for them to have a good sale and get them then, but I just can’t justify spending $25 on a single shadow!
You have to remember, they give out these discounts to youtubers of 20%, so they have to raise the prices to make a profit in the end. If you use the discount code, they are only $15. MAC paint pots are $22 and aren't this vibrant and don't have the duochrome shift that these cream eye shadows have. I think the pricing is more than fair for what you are getting.
Definitely not worth the money for that flakey mess. I remember a few brands with formulas like these and I never used them more than once cause those flakes definitely do not flick right off your face, they always leave some sort of weird specks. It’s like Nyx coming out with those old 2 step lip products. Catch that next generation!

@@legomego3333 it does seem a bit flaky, so maybe applied wet is better? The way it seems to me is similar to Colourpop’s super shock shadow, which is some of my absolute favorite eyeshadow formula. But those are $6 instead of $25 lol. I’m all for clean beauty and I want to support it, but I have no business spending that much on one eyeshadow :/

Hmm... The colors are pretty but the formula seems to be the type that makes the eyelid look textured or crepey.
Girllllllllllll...............all of them are absolutely gorgeous. I can never resist a duochrome but these are insane. I mean they look so easy to apply and the finish looks beautiful and just look at those colors.

The eyeshadows look beautiful, but if they are going to push "clean formula" and how bad the chemicals other brands are using are they really should point to scientific proof we can look into to back up their claims. I went to their website to check if they give their sources there but cannot find references to source material there either (at least not easily or at first glance, I did not check every single page). It just makes me feel a little like it's a marketing ploy.

I just got my first order of Glam Shop singles and immediately thought of you and how I’d like to see you swatch “special shades” from indie brands on your eyes! Looxi, comes to mind as those shades aren’t as expensive as many other indie brands for you to buy a bunch of. I’d love to hear your enthusiasm for those kinds of eyeshadows! Unfortunately my discovery of Clionadh, Terramoons, Looxi, Glam Shop etc. means I’m not as excited about ColourPop releases anymore, so I miss you 🥰

Shae, I really appreciate your videos.❤ I am a newer subscriber and bc of you I discovered CP's Night Bloom blush which is a HG blush for me now! (And their Hocus Pocus palette and many others) I love these products so much, being fair and cool it can be difficult to find cool toned products and your swatches are extremely helpful for non-youtubers imo. Legit had the tab open for these so I could add these to my cart with each swatch 😂 I *WAS* going to put them in and put together a wish list for later, but honestly, 'All of the Lights', 'Night Fever', and 'Mic Drop' (mostly 'all of the lights' and 'night fever' lmao) have made me want to put in an order right away. Thank you so much for swatching these, I'm super stoked for them to release more shades in the future and I really hope their full rebrand goes well for them!! For any company, changing everything is difficult to do (ideas, themes, directions, and making sure these changes are different enough so the rebranding seems purposeful), and it's made even more difficult after being in the game for so long and being so well known. But, tbh, this one product is enough of a success for me 😂 I actually haven't ordered from them before, so this'll be my first time experiencing *ANYTHING* from them and I'm super stoked!!!!

I put 2 in my cart just to see how much it would be with shipping, tax and a 20% off discount code, and it still came to like $48 for 2 of them. I just couldn't do it. I feel like silver is a lot more wearable if you blend it out with warmer tones. That way it doesn't look so starkly icy. I also feel like it makes it look a bit more modern - frosty shadow reminds me of the 2000's in the worst way lol
They remind me of my fav touch in sol metallist foiled pigments 😍😍 but I got those for $6 each from Boxycharm so I probably wouldn’t spend $25 on one single shadow 😕😕 that’s too much when I can get amazing brands like hourglass scattered lights and touch in sol foiled pigments for $6 from boxy BUT they r beautiful! The scattered lights ones aren’t similar but the touch in sol are $18 and I have like 3-4 identical shades if anyone wants a dupe for these ❤️
My favorite thing is how you use dry and wet brushes with shadows and pigments. No one else does that!!!???!!!

Deck of Scarlett is only going to share what they want you to know so please know your information is one sided and has potential to be misleading and dangerous.
Thank you! I was really uncomfortable with her rhetoric on clean beauty and some of the skin care claims of this product. It felt like an uninformed ad as opposed to a sponsorship based on personal preference, which was unfortunately very disappointing to see.
