I love how D'arcy and Billy were smiling really wide towards the end of the song and looked like they were having a lot of fun and James just looks so serious
I think Billy is laughing and smiling because he's having fun with this guitar, haven't seen him with it before. So my guess is that he's trying it out.
@@Jnels27 It looks the same but I think that’s a different 335 he using here. The tonight tonight one has a trapeze tailpiece and extra switch on the lower “horn”. I think he uses it on the other songs from the this concert
It's just the most relaxed and happy I've seen billy post gish and Siamese dream when he was still a kid. I consider this prime billy. That and Vancouver mcis
Back in the day I was told that Pumpkins didn't sound good live, so I never went. And now I see all of these older live performances on UA-cam, and I couldn't agree LESS! I think my biggest regret in life was that I never got to see them play. Their music defined my entire young adulthood and I still love it to this day. Billy, please get the band back together. And send me a ticket. :)
moral of the story, never listen to ones opinion. I went to a concert last summer even though it was just billy and Jeff they were still amazing! & front row too! :)
+Christian Van Meurs If you get a chance, they're doing their '16 rendition of In Plainsong, which a lot of fans enjoyed in '15. I couldn't go then... I'm not missing it this time!
You get a chance to see them live again, they planning a 25 year anniversary tour for Mellon Collie & the Infinite sadness. New 30 song album and tour🤙🏼 * Check out live performance on Howard Stern show
From 5:17 onwards it's lovely to see Billy smiling at James, then D'arcy, (with her actually smiling back) then the drummer in a genuine moment of "This fucking rocks!!". I miss that.
I'm speculating slightly, but the grape vine is running hot, with Billy stating how great it is to have his friend back and she happy, healthy and playing bass again. I'm thrilled even at the prospect
+brian lawless I think this is one of those rare songs where it's a tale of two different versions. Meaning whether it's bombastic or spare, it can be equally special and magical. (And you're right, there are some absolutely blistering versions of the song with Jimmy back there)
If Jimmy had still been in the band at that point there wouldn't have been an Adore era. That was a reaction to the loss of Jimmy more than it was a conscious decision to change musical styles.
absolutely beautiful… the way they just come up with those beautiful melodies right there in front of millions without messing up on a single thing is so awesome.. nothing beats the pumpkins !!!
People...can someone explain to me! When I bought the CD that has this song, the heavy final part that is in this live version was in the studio version! Why is it that when I search for the studio version nowadays, I can't find this final improvised part? I've searched everywhere and can't find it.
how many rings would the Lakers have won if Kobe and Shaq stayed together? How many great albums would the pumpkins have made had Billy & Co. stayed united? Great questions to ponder.
Wait what? Billy Corgan wrote all the songs and played all the instruments except drums. And once Corgan found a good drummer he made some pretty good albums. Check out Oceania and Monuments to an Elegy.
I love the Adore-era version of Thru the eyes of ruby. This is a fantastic performance of that. I honestly think this is right up there with their performance of it in aula magna of the same year. This one is more spare, which they've done some really fantastic versions with and really scratch the 'itch'. My favorite Smashing Pumpkins, showcased in true majesty. Thanks for uploading!
3:40 D’arcy’s part here was one of my favs from her. Just an amazing line up. Anyone putting her down should have to go on tour with SP and memorize all of this music. I don’t see a music stand, do you?
First time I ever heard D'Arcy's microphone on in a live performance, haha. I've seen her mouthing vocals many times but assumed that BIlly kept the mic off because she sang out of key. Actually she doesn't sound too bad
Wow. You assumed Billy kept her mic off? What’s with people constantly dragging her all the time? She sang on the records so why wouldn’t she sing live? Look up “Beautiful”. It’s a nice duet between Billy and D’arcy.
I love how D'arcy and Billy were smiling really wide towards the end of the song and looked like they were having a lot of fun and James just looks so serious
Best Part :)

EdouardPicard0224 he used it to record tonight tonight!
@@Jnels27 ohhhh i see i see

The fact that Corgan and Iha can improvise solos like that is nuts.
they've been jamming like that sense they were new wave..
This isn’t improvised. They played the heavy part earlier in the MCIS tour as a coda to the “normal” version of Ruby.
@@interstate366 I disagree with Darcy's surprised look but not here to argue. It rocks :)
It's just the most relaxed and happy I've seen billy post gish and Siamese dream when he was still a kid. I consider this prime billy. That and Vancouver mcis
Amazing shit right 1990s
1:32 D'arcy's back vocals were just the greatest. God i miss her.
Her voice compliments Billy perfectly.
Miss D'arcy she just takes me back better days love and health always miss ya
holy shit they were tight!
I love this version really fantastic
Spaceghost Zero nice t shirt
The best fcking video on UA-cam 🎉🤘
an improv'd solo from james? this was his peak during the pumpkins
first time ive seem him happy

+Brooklyn *෴* That's awesome! I heard some good things and I'd had tentative plans to see them in the Pittsburg area (whatever date that was).
3 out of 4 original members are back together.
You get a chance to see them live again, they planning a 25 year anniversary tour for Mellon Collie & the Infinite sadness. New 30 song album and tour🤙🏼 * Check out live performance on Howard Stern show
7:30 the transition they did is so mesmerizing. this song is so magical
Live ,amazing!
You are everywhere
@@alexmalch HAHAHA
Wow!!! ❤❤
This is the best
Do I hear a reprise that can also be heard on the Zero single's medley of outtake recordings?
how do they have so many different versions of the same song.
Love how much fun they're having, Billy's cracked laughing in the middle 😆 Cute. Love this song. They sound so great during this concert
fantastic version. This was a great gig.
this and the one from Brixton are the 2 best performances of this song.
Yep for sure
And dusseldorf
From 5:17 onwards it's lovely to see Billy smiling at James, then D'arcy, (with her actually smiling back) then the drummer in a genuine moment of "This fucking rocks!!". I miss that.
forever one of the greatest band ever.. SP
Wow! This Is Just Incredible!
See Billy smile and have so much fun at 06:21 makes me so happy! What a performance!
Were there! I've seen them several times and this was one of better gigs! Thx :)
🤘😈🤘🔥🔥🔥
The nod to James
One of my favs! Absolute artistry!
SUBLIME CAR NECESSAIRE
Very rarely is Billy this happy with a performance. This would have been even more epic with Jimmy. D'arcy had great tone here.
Those two solos one after another are one of the best moments in music.
Straight up good music.
Nailed the shit out of that one.
Nailed the shit is a understatement
That was incredible
You must be new to there music
@@mikeschiller5496 why do u say that
Magic.
Clean! Great job! And chords are perfect
Rockin’ Fuckin’ Roll.
I've given this a lot of views ❤️
Epic version!!!
D'Arcy Wretzky babes
Aldrich Yuhengco and she's coming back in 2017! so happy!
patkawasaki where did you get the news?
I'm speculating slightly, but the grape vine is running hot, with Billy stating how great it is to have his friend back and she happy, healthy and playing bass again. I'm thrilled even at the prospect
Aldrich Yuhengco and so Cool
Ha she never came back don’t start rumors
I love this song more each time.
love the shirts and Ties
so awesome
I adore Jimmy C but this is my fav live version of this song.
Super epic mega tune. Darcy looking hot as hell
6:10 The Mellon Collie Stratocaster was very jealous to see that Billy could not shred that Gibson. But wait... THAT TONE, OMG
The tones where amazing
The original always will be forever that I live on earth
What could’ve been…
EPIC rock gods.
Miss that original band lineup there will definitely never be that sound that they started from day one
Wow!!! That cross over solo is majestic.
Fantastic!
Always Loved the studio version but WOW how good was that?! Huge rockstar moments throughout.. Great ending!! 👏👏👏
Completely Awesome
Simon Gray yes this band is amazing in there prim 1990s
6:18 Happiness on stage =)
Goosebumps man... 7:33

Fucking hell.
wow i wish i could put this version on my car stereo!! Billy ROCKS!
Great version of a great song
god that kicks in thick at 517...awesome
nice to see them all having fun. Would love them to fully reform
R Davies They are now
3 out of 4 ain’t bad
not the same without jimmy he's an absolute monster on the other versions of this song ive seen
+brian lawless I think this is one of those rare songs where it's a tale of two different versions. Meaning whether it's bombastic or spare, it can be equally special and magical. (And you're right, there are some absolutely blistering versions of the song with Jimmy back there)
+clivel5755 its still good but any performance ive seen of the pumpkins without jimmy chamberlin always seems to lack energy
cactus sac matt was great in the adore era. I've often wondered how jimmy would've fitted that. not sure it would've suited.
If Jimmy had still been in the band at that point there wouldn't have been an Adore era. That was a reaction to the loss of Jimmy more than it was a conscious decision to change musical styles.
OD with Jonathan Melvin in NY on 1996. Billy said to Jimmy "Get out" ;)
Versione fantastica, che non conoscevo... Cazzo di figata
absolutely beautiful… the way they just come up with those beautiful melodies right there in front of millions without messing up on a single thing is so awesome.. nothing beats the pumpkins !!!
This show is actually pretty awesome i love it
Ah, shit. When I see Billy wearing a tie, I know it's when Jimmy was outta' the band.
😂😂

Memorables años 90s. Atmósfera oscura y mística.
amo a estas personas tan hermosas talentosas y rockeras
This is my Favorite SP song and I get to see them again Oct 7th
Insane version😳👏🏻

theyre back and put another great one daddy
RIP Kobe

Maybe none. Sometimes things end for a reason.
We’ll never know. Life is so tragic and short.

+clivel5755 I should edit and say the aula magna show was in '98
This isn't the Adore era yet, I would say it's post -mcis, pre-adore. 97 was a great live year for them though.
clivel5755 nothing beats this one. Jimmy is a God. ua-cam.com/video/NdjIdc9-13U/v-deo.html
clivel5755 this still Mellon Collie era
Ahh its Billy let me take a solo here corgan.
that first part where D’arcy took off her jacket then picked up her bass....so hot lol
3:40 D’arcy’s part here was one of my favs from her. Just an amazing line up. Anyone putting her down should have to go on tour with SP and memorize all of this music. I don’t see a music stand, do you?
That moment when James screeches into the solo...
Who is in drums? Matt Walker?
Seems like it. He's a beast.
WOW!
7:21.... sheer class......
holy shit!!!
Holy fuck
WOW

Visceral!

unknownkingdom which would be ironic considering Billy sings out of key all the time
d’arcy may not be the best vocalist, but her voice uniquely complimented billy’s own one-of-a-kind voice.
As a matter of fact I can't hear her voice in the most part of their performances...
You can hear her in the version of Soma on Vieuphoria
Wow. You assumed Billy kept her mic off? What’s with people constantly dragging her all the time? She sang on the records so why wouldn’t she sing live? Look up “Beautiful”. It’s a nice duet between Billy and D’arcy.
Who is Ruby?
What is Schmidt doing at the drums?
I wonder if anyone is going to transcribe this concert
Do caralho!!!!
i still want and need these people. jimmy's not in this one....
i love/miss D'Arcy
Como le puedo hacer para que esta versión de esta canción se quede tatuada en mi alma?? (Urgente)
What guitar is Billy using here?
ES 335
The only thing missing is jimmy
Can some one tab the solo please
proper gear
