The why is way more important than the how - once your why is big enough then you open your mind to learning the how. Thank you for your videos

    Hi Tracey,
    Love your work.
I think it is important to make everyone aware on why to invest & more importantly why to start investing early in life.
May be compare a investment life cycle between someone started investment in 20's vs 40's.
Investment could be anything buying your first home, fix deposit, share/etf or even investing on own education.

I really like and appreciate your "how to" advice and information in your videos. I believe that most people also need a compelling WHY to start taking action. I think there might be a fair bit of fear that stops people, so the WHY reason has to be stronger than the fear. I printed out one of your insta posts for my own inspo about your WHY - to read books and travel around the world. The mindset side of things is cool.

Shares and Dividends probably aren't the best usage of Capital, but they are passive and time resource effective..
Running a business is a pain in the backside...I would rather be an investor any day..

    interesting video.
I think its extremely important on how to invest because I was one of those people that had friends and family that kept telling me that its a waste of money because I will loose it all and that only millionaires can make money in the market. Seeing on media about people loosing everything because they invested into a company can put fear into people to now wanting to invest so showing how its done is important.

I like the framing on "why?" ...financial freedom , 'F U Money' etc.
It'd be cool to also do interviews with other people on what got them started and why. It doesn't have to necessarily be stocks like you said.

My why: opportunity for passive income and the fact that saving bank accounts don’t pay much comparing to low-medium risk investments.

Hi Tracey. Yes I think the reason to invest is important but I agree with you that it's complicated. I think fundamentally the most obvious reason would be to achieve financial independence. However, other reasons could be to build up enough money to fund your child's secondary or tertiary education or to save for a major expense like a home or an extended "sabbatical". These latter reasons involve more risk because they would be shorter term (10 years) and the "investor" needs to understand that they could find that they would have done better just saving cash. Imagine starting a regular investing plan in the year 2000 only to be hit with the GFC at the end of 2007?

I wish I could convince my son to invest whilst he is relatively young. It's not till you get older that you think of missed opportunities when you were younger. When you get older, you will find it much harder, though it is not impossible to make up for lost time. I think that you would do well explaining the advantages of doing it as soon as possible. Cheers John. P.S. It being investing in shares, EFT's or DRP's

    Hi Tracey
would love to hear your thoughts that if you had to start all over again
investing all over from zero how would you start in this environment.
And yes, why would you invest would you do it so you could retire early or
    to help supplement your super.
Keep up the great work would love to meet you one day for a chat.

Some people are focused on today and their sensory experiences of the now. They have a hard time visualizing the future and what they will need because they only live in and think about the present moment. I too struggle helping these people because they don't have the willingness or skill to mentally project into the future.

Hmm, opportunity cost comes to mind 🤔🤷‍♂️😅
But regarding the "why?", I'm inclined to suggest thinking of this more towards - "how to get people you care about, interested in financial literacy, investing, financial independence, etc.?" 🤔🤷‍♂️😅
As I'll concede, the majority of my friends are largely disinterested 😔

To my mind, Why is the most important... try replacing the words "Invest" with "Diet"; the WHY you may Diet is the reason you will stick with it. So if you don't have a Why, the How becomes irrelevant.
As for your friends motivation: why does she work? What are her motivations? Or has she ever bought a lottery ticket?
I suspect she could answer her own question based on what's important to her. It might be so she can spend more time with the family, or to be financially secure.
Work is a normal way of making money... but you are ultimately trading time for money. And if you feel like you never have enough time..
Most people will use their money to buy things that might give them short-term happiness. The rich instead use money to buy assets that make money. It's like buying the golden goose that lays golden eggs. And that's all investing is.

Why to invest? The reason for me was it stopped me spending it on consumable items….I could buy that great price stock that would make me money (most of the time) or I could buy that other random item that was a cheap bit of plastic or a meal that would have tasted better if I cooked it myself. It stops you spending. That is the reason to invest.

If you're happy with the amount of companies you hold (for diversification) then adding to your existing companies is great. I hold about 14 which is a good mix for me. Now I just add to those I already own.

I think figuring out your own why is more important than how.
You can invest in stock, property, businesses, partnerships, collectibles and more.
You can invest in your own name, a unit trust, a discretional trust, or a host of other methods.
You can invest $20 here or there on micro investing platforms, or chunks of $50k or more. You can invest 1% of your income, or 99% of it while living in your parents house and eating their food
Why you invest should drive how you invest, and how much.
I like to think backwards from an outcome, to start with the end in mind.
No point having a 200k/yr income from a business that is worth $0/yr without you driving it, if your goal was to be hands off sipping cocktails on a beach.
And there is no point sitting on a beach getting crispy while reeling in dividend cheques, if your only passion in life to make you happy is your work.

I come from a family of workers that prefer saving and buying houses. Problem is, you have to work your whole life. I’ve watched your videos for a while now, realizing that life is not about living to work but working enough to live. Or maybe perhaps not working and living😂
